Went to Royal George in Birdlip, Gloucestershire today for lunch. We looked for any lunch offers (none found) and when ordering drink’s mentioned we would be eating. Food was good quality, however... See more

Food portions size/price shocking
Bar staff were friendly. 1 star given for this reason an the other for the poor rating. We went in for luch and were extremely unhappy with the food we received for what we had paid. When the staff member carried our food out i was astonished! He carried out 3 'portions' of food - the size of the dishes were no bigger than the silver type of foil trays you get on a pie! £6.99 of our bill was for chicken strips- about 1-2"long in 1 of those dishes and the same amount of chips - the amount i would feed to a child! Absolute rip off. If i hadnt already paid when ordering i would have refused to do so for what we got. Will never go for lunch again.
Poor Sunday roast
Their Sunday roast “hand carved turkey” is anything but hand carved
It is pre packed precooked on a roll that is machine sliced
Their roast beef is tough tasteless and grey
Do not recommend the Sunday roast at all
Vegetables tepid and the cauliflower cheese is a desert spoon portion as is the gravy but they will offer more gravy if requested
The staff are very good but they can’t change the quality of food
Red Lion 4 Lane Ends. Over Hulton.
Sam, our server was amazing. She was super efficient, really friendly, and brightened up our meal experience.
I am shocked that this pub was so quiet as the service, atmosphere, menu options, decor, and cleanliness is second to none.
We used to frequent Pine Tree Farm, just down the road, but our new local is The Red Lion, Over Hulton

This place just goes from strength to strength. They had a major refurbishment a few years ago, since then it has become a pub for everyone, that quiet drink, food is excellent and reasonably priced. Very friendly staff indeed, so seasonal days such as Mothers day etc are serviced with professionalism and dedication from a team obviously happy in their work. The standout, Slick behind the bar is always a dream 😀
I rarely go anywhere else these days, keep up the great work Team Cranleigh
2nd time around…
I hadn’t been to this pub, the Woolpack at Beckington, for well over 30 years, when it was a free house so I was a little apprehensive but the evening was lovely. Our waitress, sorry I didn’t get her name, was attentive and efficient and John, who also served was lovely - warm, friendly and funny.
The menu was a nice mix of pub standards and more unusual dishes. Everything we had was perfectly lovely.
If I had one comment to pass on to the management it would be that one or two more choices of dessert would have been good.
Never Again
Popped into Emerson’s Green Mill House not been there for years & was really looking forward to their roast I had the duo my partner beef - I have to say it look nice at first sight but omg I have never experienced such a poor quality meal - roasters we’re black inside frozen ones not warm hard, broccoli looked good but couldn’t cut through it (& I like steamed veg) it wasn’t just hard but fully of water, carrots, peas same like they were defrosted & popped on plate cauli cheese defo from a bag again unable to cut it was stretchy 😂 chewy defo not cooked - beef was ok but turkey tasted of bacon smoky !! But no bacon in sight 😂 left a nasty taste in mouth, yorkie doughy again cold just defrosted, needless to say I left mine but hubby tried his best to eat his beef - defo won’t be going back

Called today Fantastic Experience
Special mention to Murph the carvery chef who went above and beyond his duties by going out of his way to get something that was not available from the carvery.
Also Levi that her customer service skills were exemplary
Food was spot on and affordable

4 pensions told where to drunk to have a second baileys with no reason for why this was so.We where staying there so we though we would have a nighcap, was not slearing our words, not unsteady on our feet or shouting, swearing or loud, just sat down and had a chat.Spoiled an end to 45 wedding anniverary.Won't be going there again.I know nothing will be done about this, but just thought it might enlighten people.
Dissatisfaction at this venue
Genext King pub in Portsmouth, the good companion. Becky and Scott are fantastic hosts. Unfortunately, most of the staff are rude, abrupt and lack the skills of customer service especially a certain Female by the name of Sam. She is just Vile and should not be in the job.
An extension of the wacky warehouse
A lovely meal, but childrenbwere allowed run around the resturant, screaming, shouting, bumping into our meal table, whilst staff made no attempt to ask parents to perhaps control children for the comfort of other diners. Although there is a wacky warehouse attached next door you don't expect children as mentioned running amoke at 7.30 pm, at one point a child stood next to our table whilst we ate staring at myself and wife until they got bored and ran off shouting to his friends.

i live local and frequent this pub however i think the bar staff are lazy
disrespectful and rude, they have no repeact for men in particular not sure if they have been hurt in love!or other issues. iv never seen this type of behaviour in female creatures may be could have underlying drug or alcohol problems.
I m think all staff should be drug tested at this pub
My local Greene King
My local Greene King, in Torbay, specialises in warm food. If you expect your pub food piping hot perhaps you should visit elsewhere. Discussing this with staff lead to sincere explanations, but not apologies or plans for improvement. We are following my own advice and going elsewhere, nearby, that serves hot food HOT.
Fab from start to finish
we went for lunch last minute and it was really tasty and good value. the staff were really nice and were attentive ensuring we were ok and enjoying our food cleaned table promptly after we had finished eating. will again be back
The Three Magpies London Heathrow Heathrow...
The Three Magpies London Heathrow...
Is this one of the BEST Greene King Pubs in the Country?
YES! YES! YES!
Circa 1765, yet a stones throw from Heathrow Airport, yet could be 100 miles away!
Everything about this place is RIGHT!
Firstly the Smell of good food, as a Classic Pub/Restaurant should be.
It's warm, friendly, superbly clean.
Great Staff all working hard to feed and water the rush of a Friday afternoon/evening.
I spent 20 years in this trade, and I can find no fault in anyway with this venue.
In Fact...
I love it!
It is everything a Classic Pub should be.
And given it's location, it actually transports you to a Classic English Village Pub...
Which of course it was back in the 1700's and still is today!!!
Greene King you need to observe, and undoubtedly give the accolades this PUB truly deserves!

Always come to gildersome arms quite often, the food is spot on and always tops Toby Carvery. Astonishing customer service from Rachel, she will always welcome us with a smile and go above and beyond to make sure our experience was better than the last, no request is ever an issue for her, she’ll do what she can and then some to make sure we’re satisfied. She’s an absolute credit to their business and we will continue to come here due to the fantastic staff.
