The arrival queue for passport control was over 3 hours long. No thought given to families with babies, the elderly, disabled or anyone in need. Incredibly rude staff especially the ‘supervisor’. The... See more

Avoid if possible
Sooo inefficient. No where to check in baggage when you arrive 3 hours before deportere. People queeing and waiting. Still no check-in 2.5 house before departure. Thought this would be Swiss effiency but apparantly we are too close to France🤣 avoid if possible.
Not the Swiss efficiency!… over an hour…
Not the Swiss efficiency!… over an hour to get through passport control .. I thought Bristol airport was bad but this is very close behind… total shambles!
Worst airport ever!
Worst airport ever!! After queing for almost 2 hours we were told that it was late and maybe they couldn’t board our suitcases. Finally they loaded only 2 out of 4!!! And now we are unable to track them, noone can help us on the phone and they told me to go back to the airport. Thank God we were traveling back home.
The airport is understaffed, unorganized and everyone is rude and unwilling to help. Avoid Swiss Airlines and the Geneva Airport if possible.
What is happening ?!
I am surprised by what is going on in Geneva Airport… the line at arrivals for passport control was enormous (thankfully shorter for EU/CH) but the most shocking thing was the endless wait to collect luggage. From landing to getting our lugagge : 2h! I have never ever seen this in this airport. It was absolute chaos and disorder. I think the airport should take the feedback seriously as this is not great
Utterly rubbish
Utterly rubbish! Disorganized and inefficient with massive queues at passport control and to collect the luggages. Whoever is in charge should be fired. Swiss efficiency is a myth, they are just good at charging you loads of money for nothing.
1/1/25 after arriving at airport &…
1/1/25 after arriving at airport & clearing security more that 2 hours before flight time , easy jet flight delayed . Joined queue 70 minutes before flight time. Passport control had 2 Non EU check in staff for several hundred passengers . Despite advising ground staff of concerns of slow progress and danger of missing flight we received no assistance & missed the flight . Rebooking new flights costs £450 due poor and shambolic organisation at airport . Terrible service and experience always at GVA airport for more than 4 years now . Time Authorities took some action
Swiss efficiency!!!
This is the third time the queue for passport arrivals has been over an hour for non EU citizens. Last time we were with our 12 month granddaughter. Geneva Airport certainly does not live up the Swiss reputation for efficiency.
Truly dreadful- passport queues…
Truly dreadful- passport queues embarrassingly long. Come on Switzerland, what has happened to you?
Queue’s terrible for passport control
Queue’s terrible for passport control . Will have queued for approximately 1hr. passengers blatantly skipping the queue and joining it further up. No organisation from airport staff.
One of the worst airports in Europe
One of the worst airports in Europe. Huge queues to get through Passport control. One would expect baggage to be waiting by the time you get to the carousel but no - they put 3 flights in the same carousel when others are empty. People are still stuck at passport control so no one is taking bags off and new bags can’t come up onto the carousel. Absolutely ridiculous. What happened to Swiss efficiency? On the return leg the queue for EasyJet stretched most of the length of the terminal. Although everyone boarded quickly, we were delayed because “they had problems loading the skis”. For an airport which is a gateway to a lot of ski resorts this is an incredible statement.
I’ll be looking for alternatives where possible
Knock it down and start again.
Terrible airport. 1.5 hours for passport control. Baggage hall is carnage. Where we had been queuing for so long for customs they have just taken the older bags off the carousel and left them at the side, but there's no way of knowing this until you walk around long enough to stumble upon them by chance. Then we walk through the arrivals gate into a crowd of about 400 people not knowing where to go and trying to shout over each other. Put some clearer signs up maybe? Stupidly I had hired a car from the french sector, because we were going to somewhere in France. Straightforward enough to find- first you get in a narrow lift and go up to level 2. Walk half a mile to the far left hand end of the airport and go through a set of unmarked doors like your walking into someones office, go past the sleepy lad who checks boarding passes and find the french rental cars tucked away next to a small cafe. The actual cars are two floors lower down in a lift after you walk down two unmarked corridors with a kind of chernobyl type of vibe.
On the way home, baggage check in and passport control (on different floors) was just as bad and nearly made us miss the flight. Somehow we actually went though the baggage reclaim and arrivals again from inside the airport to get to a lift to reach the departures on level 2. Joke of a place for security and very anxiety inducing.
Passport control now has four people…
Passport control now has four people for several planes. We have been here for over an hour with only one or two people checking passports for most of that time.
I love Switzerland and used to work here in 1992 but really this is poor.
5/10 airport. Passport control on Gate C is so under-staffed
The airport is average. The main area after security is an underwhelming place that feels tired and old. The new terminal C gates are very nice - when you finally get through passport control them.... The passport control at Gate C is shockingly under-staffed every time I travel through (which is every couple of months). Last week there were just three staff for both EU/Swiss and international departure queues (which were long). Eventually two more staff came on, but it took 35 minutes to get through in total. When I got to the gate, there were no signs on where to queue, so people just queued from different angles and went into a bottleneck. It was a mess.
The Passport control has always been an issue when I travel. A couple of years ago I (and many other passengers) nearly missed a Dubai flight due to the lack of staff at passport security. Even the Emirates gate staff came down to passport control to see why so many on their flight hadn't yet boarded. There were just two staff, and they could not process the large number of people quick enough. We all managed to get the flight, but it didn't depart on time.
This situation seems to reoccur a lot at Geneva - it has been like this for a couple of years and it seems to never really improve. I have been to far better airports. The new extension is really nice, but even on arrivals here, there is always a people mover out of action (and these are quite useful to make sure you get to passport control quickly!!). Surely the management know there are issues, but judging by my experience and the comments on here, they haven't really got a grip of the problem. I'm sure there are legitimate reasons for the lack of staff, but that helps no one trying to catch a flight.
Switzerland is a country that has a good international reputation for being organised, however Geneva airport is not the flag bearer.
Consistently disorganized
I travel to this airport once a month at least for work.... It is always, without fail, a disaster at border control and security. They can't seem to work out a solution that optimises their facilities.
Queues for passport control
Queues for passport control are simply unacceptable.
I assumed first time was just unlucky, but second time was the same.
Bern is much better, so I’ll hopefully never use this airport again
No place where you can sit
We arrived tired from our vacation in Morzine Avoriaz. As Swiss citizens we were very surprised that there are no seats where you can sit. This is definetely not Swiss Standard. Actually i must say it's a shame!
Matthias and Irene Winkler
Dreadful airport
Dreadful airport. No signage, no staff to ask, no seating apart for a few upstairs (but no signs to tell you where to go) Only one water fountain in the whole of the airport. Filthy toilets. So much for Swiss efficiency. Enough said...
Arrived on the France side with a wheelchair...
Arrived on the France side of the airport and when we tried to navigate our way to the Swiss side, my father's wheelchair would not fit between the poles designed to stop luggage trollies passing through. Access would have been fruitless in any case as on the other side were only escalators and stairs ... no lifts. Was met with possibly the most unhelpful response from ground staff with responses ranging from a shrug or 'I just work here...' once we finally obtained assistance having been sent down several dead ends, we were late for our flight. As members of our party rushed through the chaos of passport control, they were advised by some officious, obnoxious member of ground staff:'you should have got here earlier' ! Unbelievably unhelpful.
Huge praise goes to GVA assistance who came to my father's eventual rescue and were very kind and helpful.
Geneva Airport: you let down your magnificent country.
Just Horrible !
Swiss London to GVA plane was 1.5 hours delayed … did not get out at a gate but had to take a bus … walked then 20 min as none of the 4 escalators were working !
Luggage supposed to come out on belt 6 … half of it came … we waited another 30 min … nothing … then someone told us to check belt 3 where it was laying one on top of the other ! It’s prime holiday time !!! ??? Get better service in a third world country airport than in Switzerland!
