Finally found my dream mattress
I visited Hafren Furnishers in Llanidloes looking for a new Mattress to replace my 16 year old John Lewis (hypnos) mattress.
WOW, the showroom has so many choices of mattress on display you get dizzy looking and laying on them all !!!
It is great to actually "try before you buy" , especially with a mattress that should last you 12 - 15 years.
I was expecting to spend around £1000 on a quality mattress. I knew my criteria - extra firm , sprung, pocket springs, turnable (always think turning and flipping (4 way) monthly makes them last much longer), As much natural fibre as possible.
Discounted a lot of beds because either Memory foam (which I dislike), too soft, man made fibres, no edge support, too thin, etc.
All the big names, hypnos, silentnight, sealy, dreamcloud, Harrison, dorma, Etc. they have there.
They stock a premium Handmade (in Yorkshire) mattress from a company called "Wheatcroft", they are a premium mattress but without the big name loading on price.
This is my own views - if you like an extra extra firm mattress, wheatcroft do a double called "the Guvnor", had all my criteria above (laying on it was just what I had been searching for in my mattress.
It was delivered 3 weeks later (free delivery) and the removed my old mattress for £35 and I live on first floor with bedroom up another floor (no problem for 2 x delivery chaps).
I am having lovely nights sleep now for about 4 months, I cannot speak about the longevity of the mattress but thus far all good. (just be warned that the Wheatcroft Guvnor mattress is for extra, extra firm sleepers and would not suit everybody).
So impressed we Just Bought another "Wheatcroft" mattress for the second Bedroom - this time a FIRM mattress called the Wheatcroft "Quintessential" - another handmade premium mattress for a surprisingly great price.
I am very happy to have been able to find a great mattress thanks to Hafren Furnishers of Llanidloes and do recommend a visit to the mattress section with so much selection.
