I ordered 4 new premium tyres. Halfords fitted a tyre which is a year older than the other 3. I expected 4 tyres which were manufactured at minimum in the same year so this is quite unacceptable. It's like they picked each tyre from a completely different supplier - even the other three are not from the same month.
There were also some minor issues that provide a low quality aiming-low feel to the service (which you can also observe from the Trust Pilot reviews). Leaving a dirty wheel nut key on my seat. The tech found it in it's holding slot so they should have put it back there. Finally, to top off the low standards, the staff offered to call me when the job was done and didn't.
I contacted customer service and was told:
"In line with our policy, we are permitted to supply and fit tyres that are up to five years old."

I would strongly advise people to think twice before using Halfords for a full service and 240-point check.
I got my Mercedes full service last month from Halfords auto centre High Wycombe.
After the service, I experienced serious problems with the car, including an engine warning light and the engine running/shaking badly. I contacted Halfords to raise my concerns and explained that if there was an issue with the engine, surely this should have been identified or at least highlighted during a comprehensive 240-point inspection.
During a phone conversation, I was told that Halfords would refund me some of the money. However, after waiting around two weeks, I received an email saying that they could not provide a refund because the engine is not part of the full service.
This leaves me seriously questioning what exactly was checked during the “240-point check”. If a major issue can occur immediately after paying for a full service and a comprehensive vehicle inspection, what is the purpose of advertising such an extensive check?
What is even more frustrating is that I was initially given the impression that some compensation/refund would be provided, only to be told two weeks later that they would not refund anything.
I paid for a professional service and inspection, and I expected clear communication about anything potentially wrong with my vehicle. Instead, I have been left extremely disappointed and out of pocket.
Be very careful when relying on Halfords’ inspection reports. My experience has made me seriously question the value of their “240-point check”.
I would not use this branch again and, based on my experience, I would not recommend Halfords for a full service or vehicle inspection.

Wasted 3 hours of my life with this less than reliable/professional supplier . Two visits to two different garages, arranged by customer services emailed directions and confirmation of services I wanted and had ordered , show up at the arranged time and 1. The garage doesn’t know why you’re there and 2 they can’t help you? I think Halfords is good for buying bicycle pumps in my positive experiences. I’d go to a professional local tyre branch , as I have done …phew another lesson learned.

Cancelling the Motoring Membership annual renewal is a nightmare. Completed the online form which was a 'request' only. Received an email that my request would be reviewed within 48 hours. Turns out the person assigned is on holiday, The Agent on the phone completed the cancellation. Given that the subscription was by credit card it is pretty much impossible to block at my end. If I want to cancel I should be able to cancel. Obviously set up to trap people with Halfords FOREVER.

This garage is disgustingly. We were treated like fools with no respect. From the beginning we could see they did not want to do the work on our car. We had a diagnostic check on our car that showed we needed to renew our diesel particulate filter. They then said they would order the part. They said it would take 48 hours and take our car to the garage a couple of days later, which we did. The car was there all day and then we rang to see how things were getting on. He said they had a problem and that the part they got had a missing piece. We were told to pick up our car while they ordered another one. That did not arrive. All the excuses and all the messing around took two weeks to realise they were not going to repair our car. We then were recommended by a friend to have our filter cleaned and a diagnostic check done at the same time. This chap did this and the test was positive and the filter as good as new. Before this which I forgot to mention Halfords did not put the engine cover on or the heat resistant cover for the engine. After the chap went we went back to Halfords and ask them to replace what they had taken off the attitude of the 2 men in the works shop was disgusting and treated us with not really caring. They told us this would take half and hour. When we came back they could not replace the heat resistant cover and tried to fool us that we had been driving around in our car with a broken cover. They had actually broken it themselves so it was useless. He mumbled that is was always broken but we could see that some idiot had prized it off and made the washer too small for the hole. The two idiot in the work shop are rude and totally useless. Arrogant and basically thick. I would advise if you don’t want to be messed around and caused stress don’t go to Halfords. Cowboys is their name.

Damaged TWO of my alloy wheels during tyre fitting and blamed a "stone"Avoid Halfords Autocentre Andover (SP10 3BE). I used their service to fit brand new tyres. When I got home, I discovered that TWO of my alloy wheel rims had been badly scratched on the inside. What proves their negligence is that both wheels are damaged in practically the exact same spots. This is a clear pattern showing that their tyre-changing machinery or mounting tools were either faulty or used incorrectly by an untrained technician.I returned to the garage the very next day to report this. Instead of taking responsibility, the staff came up with a ridiculous excuse, claiming the deep scratches on both wheels were caused by a "stone". This is technically impossible given the identical location of the marks on the inside of the rims. They refused to fix their mistake, violating the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Terrible customer service and a complete lack of honesty. I will be escalating this to their corporate office and taking legal action to cover the refurbishment costs for both wheels. Stay away from this unprofessional garage!

Megan who is on front desk, is always so kind and considerate. She explains everything and reassures you that your car is in safe hands, and never rushes! All the team at Halfords are exceptional, my car has never had a problem after visiting Halfords and always come back how it was and has always been fixed correctly. Thank you so much!!

The Halfords on Anlaby Road Hull is not good. Maybe deteriorated recently. I had my car full service done and in 2 weeks showed like 3 warning lights. When I went to the garage the receptionist refused to take a look and asked me to book in again paying money. He was rude and unhelpful. I felt livid because after paying full amount for service they done a shoddy service.

Booked into Doncaster Autocentre to have 2 new front tyres fitted 4/8/26 appointment 5pm.In & Out promptly (as usual) .Drove home and was dismayed to find front offside wheel cap missing.
Serendipitously,The wheel cover was found (by me -though I was not searching for it) on a central reservation on a dual carriageway 2days later.
This was 2miles from Halfords.
They have been in touch and I will inform them of my good fortune.
Pleased to say they agreed to supply replacement wheel covers (full set)
Thank You

This company is a total rip off. Took my car in because my mechanic was busy. Was quoted £250 for fixing a rear brake, ended up paying £535. They tried telling me my clutch was broken which it isn't, and wanted £779 for fixing it, then tried to charge me £25 for a number plate bulb (i only wanted the brakes done). Also they said my brake fluid was contaminated. This company just keeps adding on. Please please go somewhere else, even if you have to wait.also I've noticed scratches all down the side. Went back and they've took photos of it and said it was done before the car went into the garage. Unbelievable. Please avoid using them

So. A follow up. After buying my tyres in November last year I got the extended warranty. I went back in February with a puncture and after it was "fixed" took the car home and low and behold in the morning flat again. I thought it was the valve as when I blew it up it was leaking so had to nudge it about to stop it. Went back over and it turns out that they had used the wrong size of tyre wedge or something and actually tore the rubber so it wasn't making a seal around the rim. Just as well I want going anywhere on the motorway or it could have failed. Anyway they replace the tyre with a different brand but no new valve. A few weeks later my tpms system told me it was low. I blew it up but the valve was leaking and I had to nudge the pin again to stop it leaking. I went back over and was told it was just dirty again and it would be fine after a clean. Now the valve has failed completely and they want at least £24 to fix it. This is despite having the warranty and the fact the tyre was off the car at least twice and the valve wasn't replaced. Again. This place has went downhill since they took over from national tyres. Best avoiding if you were loyal to national tyres as they really couldn't care less.

Looks like i got scammed today at Halfords Autocentre Taunton, i booked for a diagnostic check worth 54.99£, which was payed prior online, left the car for 2 hours came back he told me our device couldn’t read why the check engine light is on, so they actually haven’t done the diagnostic check and told me we are gonna refund you 13.5£. I also booked for brakes check and when i asked the brake he told me we just check the front ones and they are new.

I like Halfords Autocentre. They fitted my front two tyres quickly and professionally. The staff were friendly, and I received a phone call as soon as my car was ready. The work was completed even faster than the estimated time, which was a pleasant surprise. Excellent service from start to finish and will happily use them again.

The worst. Just trying to cancel an appointment and the local number diverted to a call centre where despite going through 2 different versions of the phone tree, they still couldn’t give me someone at the actual local garage to cancel my appointment. The second person wouldn’t continue without my phone number “for security” which I was a little reluctant to give given that I booked in person and had not had to provide a number when booking, only an email address, so was questioning why they needed that when the call centre person just stopped talking to me. I tried to cancel it online and my order number was not recognised. Ludicrously bad system. Doesn’t work. So now I have to wait until they email me tomorrow when I don’t turn up for my appointment, to tell them that I’m not coming. Really hope they did record that call as they say they do. Appalling!

I own a 2010 vw beetle and ordered the supply and fitting of a replacement indicator bulb. Halfords accepted the order, took my money but when I arrived for the fitting they said that it was against company policy to replace vw beetle indicator bulbs???????
If they can’t do such a simple job I wouldn’t trust them to do anything!!!!!
to carry out the replacement on a very beetle

Halfords staff could not get the door panels off of the car after trying. Rang me at end of day and said best bet is to go to the dealer. Garage parking was full so mechanics got me to park on customer side of Halfords. Got issued a parking fine. £70. Halfords are refusing to reply. Total Parking Solutions are threatening to pass to debt collections whilst I’ve been attempting to get a reply from Halfords. You have been warned.
