Extremely unfriendly and incompetent…

Extremely unfriendly and incompetent workers at the airport. I asked the officer/ worker inside, where I could find my gate and he only replied in German and kept scrolling his phone. And when I said if he could answer in English, he continued talking in German and said “das ist nicht mein Problem”. The women before the handcarry/ security check also kept ignoring people. I had a question and she was just yawning and replied to any questions “with annoyance and attitudes”.

No help and fake information from one of the staff

My wife was stopped at the automatic boarding card gate by some malfunctioning of the device. I asked one of the airport staff ( no identification number, no name, just a jellow overcoat) for Hel , he just rudely stated " no entry, your wife can't fly). Only after much enquiring and screaming we finally found an employee who helped us

Avoid travelling through Hamburg Airport

The security service and staff are far away from having any respect to the passengers or professionalism. Extremely rudeness and lack of minimum education is shown, surprisingly in a German public facility. The process to scan the hand baggage is far from optimal losing a lot of time because the staff is chatting and messing around. Check cameras from July 16th 2025, around 15 h. They are even dancing and joking among them while having long queues of desperate passengers who are almost losing their flights due to the extreme latency to go through this security service…. Thanks God that this airport has much less fluency than Frankfurt , Munich, Paris or Madrid, or it would be impossible to travel through it.
I strongly recommend all passengers and airlines to avoid this airport as much as possible, it does not deserve to be considered part of the very professional German regular network of airports…. And if you finally can’t avoid travelling through Hamburg Airport, by having less passengers maybe we will reduce for human beings this bad experience.

Parking Issue

I made a reservation for the weekend for my car and upon arrival the QR didn't work. I called the customer service and they gave me a ticket to enter.
When I came back after the weekend my QR was not valid anymore and customer service said I had to pay the full amount according to the ticket. But I also already had paid the reservation. I thought it would be easily solved but they refused to pay me back. You are treated with total disrespect and indifference. They really don't care about you as their customer. I will never forget how horrible these people are!

Horrendous

Horrendous. 1 hour 30 minute flight and then spent another hour trying to get through passport control! Worst airport I've ever been too.

The management of the airport doesn't…

The management of rhe airport doesn't give a monkey's about poor reviews. The queues through security have been a shambles for at least 20 years. This evening stood for 35 minutes in the queue but inly two security channels open. Only 2 out of three of the tray returns were working. As we arrived at them, the whole machine froze and we were moved to another gate but not before around 50 people who had been queueing far behind us were marshalled througj in front of us. An hour and 5 minutes to pass through security. Shambolic.

Shambles

Shambles. Huge queue for security . Huge queue for passport control . Really stressful . You need to give yourself at least three hours to be safe . You can stand in the security queue and look at all the closed security machines . No time to go to duty free or have a drink. I also cannot understand why British airways opened check in less than two hours before flight when they must know about the issues with security and passport control. Had a great time in Hamburg ruined by the stress of departure

This is the most unorganised airport…

This is the most unorganised airport I’ve ever been and last month when I was travelling, I was confused where gate C was and I asked I don’t know If she was an employee of a restaurant or if she was one of the cleaning service, but I asked her very nicely and she answered me very rude like if I was a stupid child. She was shouting and telling me not to go up since the arrow confused me because I thought I have to go up for gate C and this woman was yelling. I mean I was stressed too. If you see a south east Asian woman working near Gate C, just avoid her this woman is rude as hell. And when I arrive the gate It was very confusing since there were so many people and gate itself was very small. At last year, my parents wanted to travel, but the queue for the security was so long and they almost missed their flight and I think a few people actually missed their flight.

Avoid if you can

I travel from overseas to Hamburg 2 to 3 times per year. I transit through the likes of Dubai, Bali, Sydney, Singapore. Hamburg is the worst.
For years now it has always been the same:
Arrival:
Waiting forever at the luggage belt, together with hundreds of passengers so you have hardly space to breathe, yet to get your luggage, once it has arrived, to customs.
Departure:
The security checkin is always packed to a level, that you cannot even enter the fenced off queue. Add at least 60 minutes here.
Once you have finally arrived at the check point, the personnel lets you wait without a reason, then keeps correcting your posture: arms higher, elbows more angled, feet 2cm to the left. Then, when the display shows the "all clear", they send you to another person because apparently the machine detected something on you, which is a blatant lie. The display at the second check shows a green "Pass", yet they check everything. I asked them what the "Pass" would be for then. "Oh, that's not yours, that's from the previous passenger". Seriously? And the next passenger would see my result then ?
Clearly they try to make it as painful as possible. It appears some salary negotiations failed a few years ago, and now security and airport management accepted this situation as normal, at the passengers' expense.
Avoid if you can

Shameless behaviour of staff working at B47

Customer service at Borading While entering the flight Eurowing today 18:05 was delays 1 hours 04/10/2024. Flight delay and people working at B47 didn’t have respect for the passengers. Me myself found a lady rude and the man is fine but still dont know how to manage customer. But the lady didnt even apologised for what she did and continued ignoring such a shameful behaviour.

Neglect and mistreat Disabled passengers

Not a safe or accessible place for disabled people. I have routinely been mistreated and neglected by the DRK that the airport choses to employ for its assistance service. They are the disgrace of Europe. The treatment I received last week was the final straw. Time to go the legal route. Disabled passengers - It's time for class action!

Hamburg unorganized

Security check points guards are all very rude. They can have a much smoother secruity check point and check bags. We had to go throught security 5 times because of our flight getting delayed or canceled worse experience ever! People don't care if you make your destination or not after spending 20000 for vacation. They DONT NOT ACCOMMODATE IF YOUR FLIGHT IS CANCELED

Poor mobility assistance at Hamburg Airport

Arrived at Hamburg on 1/8/2024 my partner had requested wheelchair assistance. On leaving the plane there was one man with one wheelchair for two passengers ???
We were departing from Hamburg airport on the 5/8/2024. We found the mobility assistance area but no staff in attendance. I went to find someone to note we had arrived. At the airport information desk there were no staff. In fact apart from airline check in staff I could not find any airport staff to help. Eventually after queuing behind passengers checking in baggage I spoke to a British Airways member who made a phone call to get the assistance. How can other airports perform this assistance task so well but HAMBURG AIRPORT is USELESS.

Worst airport in Europe

Worst airport in Europe. Very rude security personal, very slow and talking to each other not to be interrupted by questions! Snacks and coffee counters the same. 45 minutes after airline, flight tracker etc know of a delay: NOTHING ON THE AIRPORT WEBSITE!!
How is it possible that Hamburg calling itself a world metropole is not able to have a better airport???
