Immigration is undermaned
Two flights come in: out of ten immigration cubicles, three are occupied. One hour fifteen minutes to fly to Hamburg, one and a half hours to get through immigration.
Horrible experience with Lost&found…
Horrible experience with Lost&found staff at the Hamburg airport. Never again will I fly from there! I reached out to them regarding a lost item. And they replied confirming they have found it and that I have to pick it up at the terminal 2. But as I live in a different country, I sent another e-mail asking whether somebody can pick it up for me or they can send it if i pay for the shipping costs, and how much time do I have, - they ignored all my mails for a month. And unfortunately e-mail is the only communication form. I thought because they sent this one e-mail, our conversation have started, and that they will reply later, just being busy at the moment, but nothing happened for a month. I asked a friend who was flying from there go there, and they were not very nice to him either - they said as it was not picked up in a month time, they sent it already to the main office of the air company I was flying with. And that it has a case number i have to show when i reach out to them. Great! So maybe they should’ve written it in their only e-mail to me! That i have to pick it up in a MONTH time from there, otherwise they are gonna send it away. Because I asked how much time do I have. I guess it’s just easy to work like that. Being rude to people, ignoring e-mails.
My friend also didn’t have a pleasant experience exactly with this office! I guess it’s just their style.
I reached out to the main office of Eurowings, wrote the case number I got from Hamburg airport, and of course Eurowings replied they can’t help me as they are not responsible for it, and if someone will find it, they will contact me. Now I have to file another report, and nobody knows anything. And even their links don’t properly work to file a proper report.
Avoid at any cost
_Very_ rude staff at baggage drop and especially at security control. The body search conducted on me felt close to sexual abuse, and the official spoke very aggressively and arrogantly only German at first, even though I told him clearly that I don't understand German, suddenly changing then into very poor English, commanding me like a prison guard. Security procedures and equipment at the airport seem outdated by years compared to real international airports. Would advice anyone to avoid Hamburg airport at any cost.
Hallo from Finland
Hallo from Finland! My mom got yelled at by a staff for returning a weelchair that my grandma used at the airport. Acoustic employee just kept asking that why my mother had a wheelchair when she didn't need it. I hope someone is going to get him a reason to use a wheelchair so he could understand better! Nice start for a trip in Germany!
Perfect Chaos
THE most chaotic airport we've had the misfortune to use bar none, globally. They channel all security checks through a single, minimal lane point for two very large terminals with over 100 gates. So, massive queues up close up with hundreds of people, perfect COVID breeding conditions. Then, right at the departure gates, they again herd everyone for multiple gates through minimal, manual passport check queues. So, overall, if you want to avoid being late for your flight, allow two hours for both checks. It shouldn't be that long, but this under-resourced airport creates these chaotic, stressful and unhealthy conditions. An embarrassing disgrace to international travel, avoid if you can. Add minus one star to my rating above to appreciate my true rating. Or even minus two.
Horrible experience
Slow at bag drop, slow at security and slow at passport control. Passport queue is badly organised and under staffed. Only 2 booths to passport check the large volume of international travellers who are not eligible to use the automated scanners. Had our flight not been delayed by 1 hr 30 (which was also apparently part down to inefficiency at Hamburg airport) we would have missed our flight. In fairness it is a very busy time of year for the airport with it being a bank holiday / half term but this is a major city & airport and larger than average numbers of travellers should be well anticipated with the airport staffed sufficiently to deal with the demand . A stressful experience all round & passengers are often treated with rudeness rather than understanding and assistance. Understandable that the staff on duty may well have felt under pressure & stressed and this isn’t fair to them, but equally, this is not the passengers fault either. More proactive managing of these sorts of situations may alleviate some of the anxiety experienced by passengers.
Dear Lufthansa and guy at the gate,
Dear Lufthansa,
You want to tell me that out of the whole plane, you found 2 younger ladies, the ones who had 2 pieces of luggage which btw we were allowed with: a trolley and a personal item, for which you had to send the trolleys to the carry on? Seriously? There were many people from group 5 economy who had the same luggage and weren't stopped for it at boarding. It’s either you check all of us or none :)
Not to mention, the person that was with the other girl who had to drop her cabin suitcase, had the same amout of luggage, the same ticket type. I've flown many times with this airline and I've never been stopped for something like this, having the same amount of luggage. Moreover, the guy at the gate entered the plane after everyone had boarded to check if we left the luggage and took them out, even though there was clearly still room in the overhead bins. I find this behavior disrespectful from someone who works in service of people and I truly hope measures will be taken regarding the gentleman at gate A17 during the morning boarding to Munich on May 11, 2024. It was clear that he had a personal issue with us and he really wanted to be right.
Thank you!
A group of 5 of us left our baggage at…
A group of 5 of us left our baggage at the airport and paid €12 per person. One of our group lost the ticket and even though we have pictures, we are remembered by the staff, the same staff who worked this morning. Now we’re here they refuse to give our bags back without some small piece of paper even though we have pictorial proof, passport proof. Camera proof. This is extortion and theft. Do not leave your baggage here. They also take passport details off of you, no reason for this that I can work out. It is very very dodgy. Even the police are here and they agree this is bad.
Racist and rude
If i could, i would give it a NO star. At the passport check (All Passports) for B37-B53, the second officer (male) short haired, pimples and spots on his face, sat on the right side of the booth beside another female officer in the same booth. After wasting my time and my partners time checking our passport, He ended up saying my passport is S.H.I.T and embarrased me and my partner causing others to laugh who were being attended to by the female officer, just because it had a reflective surface and gave a hard time scanning, this happened on the 6th of MAY 2024 between 11am - 1130am..I find that very rude and a bit racists calling my passport s.h.i.t, may be because it was an African passport ?

Fly in to hamburg weekly and there's always an hour wait to go through passport control. Today they have excelled themselves and it's taken 2 hours.
Parking in HAM is terrible
Parking in HAM is terrible. I made reservation for parking in advance. When I arrived (within time and correct registration no.) the gate did not open. There was traffic behind and I was late for my flight, so I took a ticket to get in to the parking house. When I had to leave I was instructed to pay the ticket. So I paid twice for the parking. HAM Parking will NOT refund. They think is fair I paid double parking, becuse their system failed.
Security is awful and disgusting
Security is awful and disgusting. I am transgender and the woman who pat me down insisted that they have to check my crotch even though I explained three times I am transgender. Took me to the side and made me pull down my underwear in front of three people to prove it, which was humiliating, traumatising and upsetting beyond belief. Not to mention they left my stuff unnatended and didn't let me bring it with me while I was being humiliated in the side room, thank god my stuff wasn't stolen. They also knew I didn't speak German and were talking a lot about me in front of me in German which I felt was really rude. I feel this is a violation of my human rights to be honest and I am considering pursuing legal action.
Security nightmare
Passing through security x-ray machine my bag was pulled to one side and a very rude security person demanded to know what I had in the bag that was "about this big" (indicated size with his hands). Then, I write this with hand on heart, he said "it looks like a grenade". I could not believe what I was hearing but I took the matter seriously and tried to think of something in my bag that was grenade shaped !!! Could not come up with anything and now a host of security personnel were gathering. Next thing, I am being swabbed and searched in full view of the departures area. They demanded to know why I was in Germany, I explained I had been surveying a ship, they asked my job, I said ship surveyor, then they wanted evidence that I had been surveying a ship, fortunately I had photographs of ship certificates I signed that day in Germany. Their manner was horrendous and threatening (other than one guy who stood right next to me throughout - he was actually quite polite and professional even if standing way too close for comfort). Eventually another security person arrived who seemed more senior and less dramatic, looked at the screen and said "looks like a tape measure?". Then I said I did have a tape measure in my bag. I have no idea how that looks like a grenade ! The more senior guy then showed the security staff what they had seen and demonstrated a simple tape measure to them.
One of the security guards said, take it out of the bag next time - but I have been doing this job for 20 years, all over the world, and never had such a nightmare before ! I understand the importance of security but the attitude of these guys was abysmal, dramatic and unprofessional (the very mention of a grenade being the most unbelievably unprofessional thing I have ever heard, especially at airport security!) and I can only imagine what panic may have been caused if any other passengers had heard mention of a grenade.
For me this was daunting, for someone else it could well have been traumatic.
Terrible manners by security staff
Terrible manners by security staff. I have never been treated so abysmally as I have there. As a business blogger and writer and advisor for over 25 years, helping with business ethics, communication, growth and team strategy I have never witnessed such rudeness or been spoken to in this way. It was draconian and ill mannered. Google wouldn’t let me leave a review as they have had so many bad ones. I wonder why? At least the airport was nice and the passport chaps were very civil. Hence 2 stars rather than 1.
Worth airport ever
Worth airport ever. To reclaim baggage always need to wait really long time.... and it is getting worth and worth.
The rudest staff ever
The rudest staff ever. Not everyone, of course, but it never fails that one or more members of personnel treats you impolitely.
If I could give 0 stars or minus even I…
If I could give 0 stars or minus even I would. Horrendous airport with the worst security lines I have seen. Flew many times and it keeps getting worse. Not have the previously broken my necklace (they offered me immediately to go to the police)…that was 10 months ago and I still never got a refund.
Flying again today from the enormous amount of security lanes approx. 30% are open: welcome to the wonderful organised Germany.
Oh and just to mention: I am 2 hours early, 1 hour left so fingers crossed that plane is waiting for me…..
Avoid the Lounge it is a waste of…
Avoid the Lounge it is a waste of money. You pay somewhat 40 Euro / Person - what you get is a very small selection of food (one bowl of pastasalat, one bowl of booooring green salad, 2-3 types of not so fresh bread……. It is only a poor snackbar really both when it comes to selection and quality. I Can not recommend anybody to go there - it is a huge waste of money. Use restaurants in the airport instead (which I can not rate as we did not try these).
The worst airport ever
The worst airport ever, I was doing the line for security checking. There were thousands of people. Literally a mess and I was already late for my flight. When I got there, the security guys came and shut that door and asked us to line up with to the other line. Like I was the 6th person to get to the security check and now like hundreds of people are ahead of me. I kindly asked them to do something about it because my flight is in 20 minutes and I showed them the tickets. They didn't care and they said that it is not their problem. People around me were shouting at them to do something for me and they didn't care, they even prevented me to open the line separator and join an other line like they were making sure that I don't travel. I was devestated getting treated as such by stupid nazis
