I have been truly appalled and astounded by the Hargreaves Lansdown ISA transfer experience that I initially flagged on this site just under a week ago. I think that I've now been in communication with in excess of ten HL staff members and I've even lodged a formal complaint. Since lodging this, the experience has actually worsened and HL has simply indicated the timeframe in which complaints are handled. Next step will be to email the CEO - if they have an address that receives emails. Five wasted hours of my life that I won't get back. I suppose!

Awful customer service. A simple pension drawdown request on 16/03/2026, as a long term customer, was beyond the capability of Hargreaves Lansdown. As of 10/04/26 they have still failed to pay me my money. This is unequivocally negligent. I question the quality of their customer records too - they don't seem to have a clue about their customers, let alone long standing ones.

He was absolutely very patient, answered and explained all my queries. He waited till I understood fully and patiently waited till I made up my mind, as to what to do and only than after in a very helpful way he showed me how to do it online. Thank you very much

If you can't figure out what you are trying to do a phone call connects you to really informative HL staff who I have found to be patient and knowlegable
If the lines are busy you can easily arrange a call back.

HL offers anexcellent platform and if there is an issue, your query is answered quickly. I have found the alerts and support one if the best in the financial sector. The company provides the assurance I and my family need.

The website is nice and easy to work. Just wish you would provide the gross maturity calculation on corporate bonds as that is as important as the running yield!

When I first opened my account I would have given 5 stars. I feel that your standards have declined over the years as some statistics become unavailable.

Increased monthly ISA cost tripled. Other providers are now significantly cheaper and just as good if not better .

I have been with Hargreaves Lansdown for many years.
Under Peter Hargreaves they were great.
Since he left the site has exploded with IT and I think it has been outsourced.
Last month I couldn't access my account and the same this morning, unable to trade.
I asked for an explanation but they just said they are reviewing this and will get back to me. Still waiting.
Also private now, the last accounts were good so had no worries but being private not sure how I check.
Also changed fee structure recently too

Requested a tax certificate. Received instructions to access it online that bear absolutely no resemblance to the HL web page so am unable to complete a legal form due to to incorrect, misleading and missing information.

The woman who Dealt with me was very helpful, informative and had patience with me. This made everything go through much easier than I thought, as I am not very good with these transactions.

I have just tried to open a cash ISA with HL. The system confirmed that it had opened a cash ISA. However, when I tried to choose an actual product there were no cash ISAs available. This is completely irrational.
Update: HL got in touch but in the meantime I eventually worked out that the problem was a lack of information at a critical point in the process which made it look as if there were no ISA accounts available - only non-ISA accounts. I've explained this to them in the hope that they will update the website to make it clearer.

Called em to discus which reg cash isa is suitable for my needs. In app it says call for advice. I did and hit a brickwall refusing to give any basic info about suitability. Went around in circles. Useless. Also setting up is a pain, once i registered username password and number etc it requested i set up a 2nd username password and number instead of getting me to log in with existing ? 3 hrs to set up
Not good.

To increase my monthly fees from £3.95 to £12.95 on the premise that trading fees are lower, penalises long term investors with larger holdings, that do not trade regularly.
As I would think this is many customers who are approaching retirement and therefore have larger fund holdings it appears totally stupid. As a result, I am off to trading 212 where this is all free! I cannot imagine I will be the only one!
