My 14yr old son recently got into playing penny whistles. We have my wife’s cheap tin one, in the “standard” key of high D, plus expensive ones (MK Whistles) I’ve bought my wife over the years (at over £200 each, at least) - in the keys of High D, Low F and Low D - but my son wanted a whistle in the key of C, for his Christmas present.
MK Whistles don’t make one in the key of C, so I looked around for a good quality one in C.
I’m familiar with Hobgoblin as they bought over & continue Scayles Music shop, in Edinburgh, so I wanted to pass some business their way, as they have the best selection of whistles, in all the Edinburgh music stores.
Bought the Glenluce Wexford High C Whistle, brass whistle in chrome finish.
Anyway, long & short is he LOVES the Glenluce Wexford whistle and feels it’s very high quality (having been playing the MK Whistles for quite some time, and he says all the notes are perfectly in tune. I’ve a feeling he’ll be wanting a few more in other keys, soon enough !
NB. My 14yr old son plays piano and Highland bagpipes, and since the late summer, started to teach himself to play the whistle - so he has a good ear. He can even play two at the same time ! He’s been playing his new whistle almost non-stop since Christmas day !!!
So, I’d highly recommend this brand of whistles. Yes, you can buy cheap, non-tuneable tin whistles, but if you want something much better, THIS is the brand to go for.

Nothing but good words to say about Hobgoblin. They made an understandable mistake on my very small value order which they corrected super fast and very generously.

Lovely instrument. Courier absolutely dreadful. Delivered to incorrect address. Despite a different address called again a dropped guitar over the gate.

Straightforward ordering. Well packaged and arrived in a timely fashion. I would definitely order again from them. One slight gripe the second hand instrument I ordered was described as having a bag. The bag it came with was not a gig bag. It was a thin white protective bag. If the description was clearer I would have given five stars. I did order a gig bag and that came in a timely manner.

Easy order process with an on time delivery and quality product.

Order came in very good time.

Needed to repair an instrument and its was great to be able to find the part I needed at a good price and supplied quickly.

Ordered a sheet music book on a friend's recommendation and, while looking for it I spotted a number of things I hope to ask family members to give me for Christmas. I have not been to a Hobgoblin shop but their range online means I would definitely go for a browse if nearby. The book arrived very quickly and was exactly what I wanted.

I have found Hobgoblin are very helpful and friendly when I ordered the wrong item by mistake and needed a replacement.

I wanted a new Classical Guitar. After researching, I made my choice and ordered it from Hobgoblin. I was worried it might be damaged in transit. I needn't have worried. It was robustly packed and turned up in perfect condition.

Tip: if you are ordering a new guitar, order some new strings at the same time. You have no idea how long the guitar has been in stock.
