Be ready to spend a night on a street. The renter was a scam and I just didn’t find a place because it was a spring break time +music festival in the area. Even you spend hours speaking with 10 different representatives- result will be 0.I finally payed triple price for staying in the worst hotel that I was able to find because neither TripAdvisor or Holliday Lettings are responsible for scam on their platforms and don’t care on your loses. It was the worse trip in my whole life and would never use TripAdvisor for booking again.

This is not the type of experience we expect for our travelers, but it explains why we have our Payment Protection Policy to protect our customers against misrepresentation or cancelation from owners, we guarantee a 100% refund for the bookings. Which was provided to you as per the policy, however, additional compensation for other expenses isn't included in the policy you agreed to, since we rely on travelers to purchase travel insurance to cover anything not in the policy. We don't own, manage, or operate the listings on our website, so we aren't liable for compensating for issues caused by the owners. We're merely a venue allowing travelers to view properties, communicate with owners in respect of any queries or questions, and facilitate the conclusion of owner/traveler rental agreements and payments. Action was taken against the owner to remove them from our website and used our resources to try and find another vacation rental and hotel in the area for you, but as you mentioned it was a peak time in the area, and it wasn't possible to find something that was the same price as your original booking. The apartment isn’t for rent according to the owner! Scammers
We have just arrived to the apartment we have booked and paid for, only to find out that this apartment is neither available and the owner says it is no longer for rent, hasn’t been since February and he has received no money.
We are standing in the rain in a foreign country having to book whatever is available somewhere else, and the worst part is that there is no direct way to get in touch with holiday lettings!

The owner of the property you booked forgot to deactivate the listing when they stopped hosting and had the instant booking feature on, which caused your booking to be confirmed automatically without the owner having to review your booking first. When you select listings with instant booking, they will be automatically confirmed as long as the owner has the listing active and the dates showing available, vs listings that don't and require the owner to respond within 24 hrs of a booking request to accept/decline. Once it was confirmed with our team that the owner couldn't honor your booking, you were refunded in full per our Payment Protection Policy which guarantees travelers a 100% refund if the owner cancels or denies you access to the property, and our 24hr team offered to help you find an alternative place to stay. Our Payment Protection Policy allows us to hold the funds up to the arrival of your booking and is not released to the owner till the following day. Please note that despite the booking made on our website, Tripadvisor doesn't own, manage, or operate the listings on it and relies on the owners and property managers to make sure the information on their account and listings is up-to-date and accurate to avoid negative booking experiences like yours. On arrival at the apartment there was…
On arrival at the apartment there was no one to meet us with the keys and after many calls to the number given for key holder we finally got hold of Pedro the owner after sending a message via the booking. Unfortunately there had a been a mix up with the dates and he thought we were arriving on 1st May instead of 1st March ! This resulted in the apartment not being ready - we therefore waited for it be cleaned etc which by this time 4 hours had passed since we had arrived ! Eventually we were able to get into our accommodation to find there was no hot water! We again contacted Pedro who said he would arrange gas to be delivered which came the following morning ! We then had to wait for it to connected which meant no showers etc until lunchtime !
The apartment has the must wonderful views and is in a great position for shops supermarkets bars and restaurants
However there are issues - the bathroom is extremely dated and there are no grab rails for an elderly person - the door stuck and was very difficult to open once shut we therefore was unable to shut door fully which isn’t ideal ! The front door also was not easy to unlock and took time to get used to the strange lock ! Some of the doors are peeling and need some attention.
It is extremely well equipped and has the advantage of a washing machine and dishwasher ! Great other kitchen facilities.
We would not hesitate to return IF the apartment addresses the issues - the living area and bedrooms are perfectly fine and spotless
So many good reasons to stay here but needs modernising in certain areas.

Awful!!!Scammers take your money...
Awful!!!! BE AWARE. THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND NOT REFUND AFTER 24HOURS BOOKING. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY. I needed to cancel and rebook to get a bigger place THE DAY AFTER booking. They refused to refund me what I had paid. It was a few hours after the 24hours as I booked early in the morning. Shocking. No budging or movement other than a repeated adamant foreign guy talking over me and over and over that I was outside of the 24 hour window and he couldn't do anything about it. AVOID. Terrible!!!!!!! Zero stars.

When booking a vacation rental, the cancellation terms are set up by the owners, and our booking fee is not refundable. Unfortunately, when booking a vacation rental you are booking with singular owners. If this was a hotel booking and you just wanted to upgrade to a larger unit it would have been a non-issue, but when booking a vacation rental, unless that owner has other properties they manage where they can get you rebooked into it, they will be at a loss if they just allow the cancellation without having any guarantee that the dates originally booked will be booked by someone else. Booked a property and when we arrived… the room was filthy
Booked a property and when we arrived it wasn’t clean.
They couldn’t get the room cleaned and cancelled the booking. It was midnight and we had nowhere to stay, nightmare.
By the time we got to bed it was 330am and it cost us another £120 for the accommodation. Had 2 young children in tow and they had been up since 430am!
Holiday lettings say they have nothing to do with bookings and don’t help. Their reply is not helpful and UK trading standards say they are liable as they took the payment. Lies Lies

Worst Host Ever
Booked a villa in Tenerife - Costa Adeje - one of the villas. Worst. Host. Ever. Prior to the visit, she wouldn't provide the address details and how to get in. She had been sent several emails to do this. Eventually, she sent a text to my phone with confusing instructions; she would not greet us there, despite this being part of the arrangement.
Since being here - two days in - she has not been responding in good time; the air conditioning has been switched off upstairs and we are sweltering. Air con is included in the price I have paid. Eventually, she called me and laughed like a hyena whilst refusing to put the units online so we could feel cool. She said she'd send someone over and then said that she would not. She said she knew that the supermarkets would be closed today but did not tell us; we could not buy supplies for to eat and cook food. The bedsheets smell like someone else has been sleeping in them and not been changed; the master bedroom sheets are dirty. The WiFi has to be connected in two places and she told me to ask my children to sort it out, or I would just have to only have connection downstairs.
The view is nice and the venue is pretty OK, but the host is dreadful and these stars are for her behaviour and treatment after forking out a small fortune to come here. Unacceptable and I am waiting for Holiday Lettings to send me a message on X.

Invisible Cottages
Have tried to book twice, one day after another, money was taken from my account then was told my request for the cottage was refused, no excuse, no apology, money was returned.
Second booking, same as above, guess what booking was refused, no excuse no apology.
I will never use this site again, I'm not convinced that they have any cottages to rent.
Will stick to Cottages.com, Hoseasons etc, at least you know there is a home to rent with them.

Anytime, an owner declines a booking request their account performance is penalized which can cause their listing to be lower in search results, not receive the certificate of excellence award, the account can be suspended or closed if they have too many rejections. In the future, if you are concerned about having your card pre-authorized while waiting for confirmation, you can send an inquiry instead by clicking "contact the owner" on the listing page, this way you can message more than one owner about your travel dates and interest to book before any payment. If they accept, they can send you a quote to then review and secure the property with payment. DO NOT use holiday lettings
DO NOT use this company to book your holiday. We booked an apartment in Spain for 6 weeks. When we arrived the apartment was filthy, there was mould in the fridge, the 2nd shower was not usable due to the amount of dirt and mould in the fixtures and fittings. The shower curtains were ridged with mould and extremely smelly. The bath plug hole was blocked with copious amounts of hair. The wifi didn’t work as the owner hadn’t paid the bill, the air conditioning also didn’t work and we had to liaise with an engineer ourselves. We got a refund from the owner without question minus the commission that Holiday Lettings took. As it was more than 24 hours since our holiday started when we contacted Holiday Lettings, they would not refund ANY of the commission even though I pointed out that we had not got the facilities at all that they had advertised. They promised to phone us on several occasions each time I contacted them, but they failed every time. They also said that they would find us somewhere else to stay which again they failed to do.
