Big thank you to Dr Barry Coakley and the reception team. I called today with an ailment. I wasn’t expecting to much but the young man at reception to photographs of the problem and put it through the system and I have had a response from the doctor already. Pick up prescription from boots in the morning.

I have been a patient here for more than thirty years and I have always received a first class service and I can't think of anything that has gone wrong with them but, quite a bit has gone wrong with me, as I have aged the same amount of course.

The business experienced a major flooding disaster in the winter of 24/25 and it took builders about ten months to sort that out; everything is fine now.

The staff are really top class and are keen to work in this popular town. There is an excellent fully functioning website which is fine for us online folk. You are obviously reading this online and it is the only way I can publish this review.

That leads me to the two negatives which makes this only a 4* Review. It's not that you are not welcome without being able to use IT and don't have a laptop or perhaps not even a smart 'phone. Pop in and be politely received and helped by the Reception team, with Dion a busy receptionist, who will be pleased to see you. I suggest doing that mid-afternoon as things are generally quite busy in the morning.

That leads me to the second negative which is parking. The Car Park is not managed in any way by the Surgery. Most of the parking bays are taken up by the staff and there are around 80 of them on some days. I did a survey on parking a couple of years ago. If you can't walk up the New Street and Church Hill route there is a town bus stop in the town centre and another adjacent to the Surgery.

Back to the positives and I was impressed this morning when I booked an appointment online. First time I have done that and I think that facility is newly added to the website. Well done. Another Car Park bay saved. If you have a Blue Badge good luck with the 4 spaces.

There is a 'same day' call back service which is triaged. Patients are allocated to a usual GP. Care Quality Commission rating is GOOD. Opening hours 0830 - 1830 weekdays. The place is always spotlessly clean and, in the winter, warm. Appointments generally run very well to time and if they are a few minutes late you can enjoy watching the peaceful fish! . There is a 24/7 emergency number to ring for help. You can use this website to view other nearby Surgeries if they may be more suitable for your needs.
