Stop profiling people!
I asked for a bottle of Torbay gin which are securely locked in a cabinet (10/04/26). The assistant took a bottle out for me saying she would put it under the counter (or checkout) near the accessories as I said I wanted to browse further. As it happened, I walked towards the accessories but decided against it, instead going to look at and then buying a pair of Carvela’s trainers. When I wanted to pay for both the gin and the trainers at Carvela‘s checkout I found they had moved the gin to the back of shop in a cupboard! Wait. Did they think I was going to take the gin or something when I was going to look at the accessories? Either way, in retrospect, I felt I was being profiled. What I initially thought was a pleasant shopping experience with all laughter and smiles turned to ashes! Not impressed. Not impressed at all!
Popped into Hoopers Esti Lauder counter…
Popped into Hoopers Esti Lauder counter for sample of foundation. Told to wait whilst the one assistant continued to make up and discuss various products on a lady. I waited 10 minutes whilst other assistants just stood around talking. I was very pressed for time and the assistant said to pop back!! It would have perhaps taken her 2 minutes to reach for a sample!! Not good enough!
Limited access for prams/wheelchairs
I love Hoopers for their range of products but it is very difficult for young families or disabled customers. There is one particular door for entering if you wish to use the lift but there is no sign saying which door this is. Not until you've struggled through the heavy single doors with a pram do you realise you need to go back through it & walk up the road to enter through another heavy door. Very few staff around to ask assistance. The restaurant is bright, warm & spacious but the menu is quite limited. Of particular concern is the lack of information regarding allergens & staff do not seem well informed. The wait of 40 minutes for poached eggs on toast was not worth it.
I visited the cafe today.

Café - GIve it a miss
Café - We called into the café wanting some lunch. We ordered two coffees, a tuna sandwich and a panini. Thirty-five minutes later, we were still waiting for the food. Ended up asking for a refund and leaving. Staff were polite but inefficient. The kitchen was obviously completely disorganised. We ended up leaving the store without spending time browsing. Poor service at the cafe meant we didn't spend money in the store. Try training your staff.
Great service
Had fabulous and friendly service at Hoopers Harrogate today. They went above and beyond to help. Regular haunt for us. Great products and lovely staff

Called into the cafe at 3.40 only to be told cafe shutting at 4 so had 15 mins to drink my coffee. Unfortunately felt under pressure . I understand that time is a factor with any job but I and many others thought the attitude of the chef lady was not acceptable
Lucy on Mac counter , anazing
Just having a mooch & a lovely Lucy on Mac counter gave advice & a mini make over . So professional & knowledgable, ended up buying a whole new make up kit . Please pass on my review to her & hope her management appreciate her . Will be back again .
Ladies from Buxton
MAC counter
I was on a weekend break in Harrogate, with friends and we visited the Hoppers store.Three of us were in need of makeup items. The Mac representative, Lydia was so helpful dealing with our various enquiries and vague questions. Not intending, necessarily, to purchase Mac products, two of us had makeovers and ended up purchasing a considerable number of products.Lydia was so calm, friendly and knowledgable, she was an absolute delight to deal with. She definately earned well for her employers.
Hoopers in Torbay
I wasn't expecting a culinary masterpiece but the pasta I ate there was an absolute disgrace: overcooked, not enough salt, loads of whatever white sauce that was... Very disappointing.

I was on a weekend break with my husband last year as my husband had been quite poorly. We stayed at de veré carnage.I went shopping in hoopers, I decided to buy some new makeup and had my face made up by a lady on prairie.the makeup felt lovely so I purchased it. When I returned home I was horrified that it was far too dark for me. As I live quite far away and my husband ended up in hospital again I never got the chance to return it, I really think that a store of this quality should have staff that know what they are doing when customers are paying so much for the product. I really should have complained earlier but with my husband being so Unwell and my moving house I just didn’t get the time or inclination!
Hoopers, Harrogate - Worst Experience
We went to Harrogate in search of a wedding outfit. Out of all the shops we went in Hoopers was by far the worst experience. The lady on the ladies fashion first floor who was attending to Phase Eight made me feel incredibly uncomfortable as though I was not good enough to be shopping there. I was trying to look through the dresses and she stood re-arranging, or more like she was browsing, right next to where I was trying to look and did not move. I went to another area and suddenly she was there once again. I was made to feel very uncomfortable. We returned after looking around, not one person acknowledged us / offered to help etc. and they definitely were not busy. We returned to Phase Eight as there was a lovel dress that my husband picked out. We asked if it was ok to try on. The assistant (same lady, now at the desk) hardly looked up and said "Yes, over there", looking in the direction of the changing room, which we had to search for! When we returned the dress there was no offer of help, or asking how it was ..... did not do or say anything. We ended up returning to another store where they could not have been more helpful but not in anyway pushy or making you feel uncomfortable, hassled. They seemed to know when it was time to offer assistance. Yes, we purchased a beautiful dress from here. Hoopers was the worst experience. A lot of lovely fashion shops and not one other of the stores once made us feel uncomfortable or that we were not good enough to be in their store like Hoopers did.
Getting a home was really challenging…
Getting a home was really challenging with the current demand in the market but when I met Yolanda at hoopers, it felt like half my housing problem was solved. Indeed it was solved, I called her service a person centred one. So happy
Come to Hoopers get terrible food
Visited Hoopers Tunbridge Wells today for breakfast, what a mistake that was. We asked for a very well cooked bacon sandwich with no butter and two poached eggs on brown toast. We asked if both plates of food could be served on warm plates.
We we're given overcooked hard dry poached eggs on brown bread served on a cold plate and a bacon sandwich consisting of partially cooked limp soggy bacon absolutely covered in vast amounts of thick butter again served on a cold plate.
I wouldn't recommend Hoopers in Tunbridge Wells to anyone for food there are plenty of other places to eat locally.
Thanks Mandy / Kurt Geiger dept
Today, in Hoopers, Tunbridge Wells, I was served by Mandy, who works in the Kurt Geiger dept. What a kind and professional lady. Ultimately, because of her listening to my needs, she made what was previously a tiresome chore into a pleasurable experience. Resulting in a purchase from me. What an asset she must be to Hoopers!
Dreadful customer service
Despite the store being very quiet no one in ladies wear bothered to offer any assistance. The 'assistant' in LK Bennett could even be bothered to look up and acknowledge us. Very disappointing.
Hit and miss
Hit and miss, a few lovely staff but some stuck up ones aswell. Lovely store and the white company addition is fantastic
