Cap for hot bin liquid outlet
Delivery was reasonably quick and the product was what I needed but it was impossible to separate the cap and the adapter without tools and considerable force.

It can take some time for the heat to be generated in the HOTBIN and it needs to be at least half full to accomplish this. That said the HOTBIN will still be breaking down the waste at temperatures below 40°C.

I have had the Hotbin for 4 years
I have had the Hotbin for 4 years. Sadly the bin never composted food waste properly even after 5 months or more it was always smelly wet mushy food waste. When you lift the lid it is crawling with worms and wood lice and flies in the summer. Although it was placed in a sunny spot and I could see at times it got to 40C. I also have an issue with the polystyrene construction which is very flimsy. The bin has become misshaped and stretched so the hatch doesn’t make a good seal anymore. I really don’t think this is worth the price.

To achieve hot composting temperatures, it’s important to continue adding chopped waste, woodchip, and paper/card in the right proportions each week. From what you’ve described, the “mushy” food waste suggests the mix may be a little too wet. This is a common issue and can usually be resolved by adding extra paper or card to help absorb the excess moisture.
We also noticed that your order was placed through one of our retailers. Have you had the chance to contact them about your experience over the past few years?

Product OK and I have two others of long standing. However service abysmal.
I ordered and paid for bin and stand. Stand did not arrive. Company said it was for some unconvincing reason sent separately. Contacted them twice but no answers. Referred the matter to my solicitor. Don’t expect such shoddy behaviour from a small company, worse than NHS.
