Horrible customer service
I ordered a backpack and it said it would take two months to come in and it gave me the day it should arrive. Once I reach that date it still had not arrived and the mall that it was supposed to arrive at which is an hour from my house so I gave it another week and made arrangements to drive over for the hour to pick it up. However, when I got there, the backpack still had not arrived. Due to my inconvenience I spoke with customer service and they assured me they will ship the backpack to my house directly. However, they did not follow through with that. I spoke to them again and they told me they cannot change the shipping address, even though they were at fault, because I still did not receive the backpack 12 days after the date I was supposed to and now all they’re offering is a refund even though I was inconvenienced a lot of time and gas to get to the mall

Jenae at Chesterfield Towne Center location in Virginia was fabulous this week and previously as well. She is friendly and helpful, greets and welcomes shoppers, and assists with getting merchandise needed to try on.
She offered to place items at the checkout counter until we finished shopping and shared that she recalled us shopping previously. She asked if we wanted to use our reward amount toward this purchase. My granddaughter is a teen and this is her favorite store. She is not trying to be trendy; just to find clothing and accessories she enjoys. The encouragement to earn coupons for special shopping dates and even to call us to remind us helps us take advantage of savings. Hats off to Jenae (39914) for her assistance and kudos for just visiting a bit.
Cheap knockoffs, poor customer service
Ordered a long-sleeved gray sweatshirt with a Princess Peach print on it, or at least it was on their site. Instead I received a black short-sleeved T-shirt with the same print. It was a cheap, unbranded T-shirt and the print was already faded/peeling, no Nintendo copyright or anything similar on the tags. There's not even a shirt version of this design on their site for sale.
I contacted customer service and sent some photos and they said they'd "escalate the case to the POD department" and send a replacement once confirmed. It's been 4 days and I've heard nothing since, how hard is it to confirm that I have an item that's visibly the wrong product and seemingly a cheap knockoff?
In store prices are doubled
Went to the store and a really nice sweater caught my eye. Looked on the website and the exact same sweater was less than HALF the price. It was 77.90 in the store and 29.97 online!! What the actual heck. So I guess the lesson is, don’t shop in store, just go to the store to look and then order online.
That being said, I held the sweater for about 5 mins as I walked the store and I noticed it pilling and losing threads like crazy. Definitely not worth $80 anyway.

Don't use hot topic online services. Bad customer service, bad website, promos don't work online. Anyway I'm very salty I ordered from hot topic online and never received my order ever. After multiple emails on my part and nine months of getting the silent treatment, they cancelled my order and because the the order was made using a gift card that expired due to waiting for six months I'm out my money.

I usually do not respond to these but I am beyond furious with your company and customer service. I will do everything in my power to tell people not to shop with you guys at all. Your customer service is nonexistent. A bunch of incompetent individuals that don’t pay attention to what the customer is saying an and can’t properly assist the consumers, the ones that pay your salaries. For a large corporation you Guys handle your customers so so so poorly. I purchased a gift for my mother in February thinking that would be enough time until her birthday ( April). I never recieved any tracking number WEEKS after my initial purchase. I assumed maybe you guys had some shipping/processing delays but I left it alone seeing as I still had A MONTH to wait and I’m a patient person. After TWO MONTHS I get anxious and call customer service to see if they can tell me if the package has even shipped yet. The agent FINALLY gave me a tracking number and told me it JUST GOT SHIPPED OUT and I should receive it in a week. The tracking number turned out to be TWO MONTHS OLD !!!He said i’d receive my order within same week of my call but he failed to tell me THE ITEM WAS SHIPPED WHEN I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED IT ( February) AND IT WAS SENT BACK TO THE WAREHOUSE and now IT IS OUT OF STOCK. You guys did not notify me that your products failed to ship to my address and I was never given a refund until I called and had to ask about the order. This is by far the worst experience I’ve had from any store. Your customer service reps do not know how to do their jobs and they are UNWILLING to help the consumers. Terrible terrible company I’m reporting to BBB as well.

by my PayPal account . I chose the option pay in 4. everything when through accordingly and they decided to charge me in full. I swiftly communicated with customer service to cancel my order and have this fixed so i can reorder and this is the response i get.

it's MAGA Mike here with a review of my recent visit to Hot Topic. I gotta tell ya, I was shocked and appalled by what I saw in there!
I took my granddaughter in for some new clothes, thinking it would be a fun and harmless shopping trip. But let me tell you, that store is chock-full of inappropriate and downright disturbing merchandise. The t-shirts had all kinds of vulgar language and inappropriate graphics, and don't even get me started on the "accessories". Who in their right mind thinks it's okay to sell that kind of stuff to kids?!
And the music they were blasting in there... I couldn't understand a word of it! It sounded like a bunch of cats being strangled! Whatever happened to good ol' fashioned rock and roll?
Overall, I wouldn't recommend Hot Topic to anyone, especially not anyone with kids or grandkids. It's just not a wholesome environment, and the merchandise is downright offensive. Save your money and shop somewhere else, folks. Trust me, you'll be glad you did.
DONT ORDER OFF HOT TOPIC WEBSITE
I had ordered something at the end of December that was listed as a pre-order. Fast forward to today I see that my order is canceled but I’m still charged $4.30 for something on the order. Same thing happened with another order prior to this order and when I had called about it asking what the issue is they said it’s an issue with my bank that my card declined even though I always make sure I have enough money in my account prior to purchasing and have never had issues with anywhere else with my card. I was pretty much told that they couldn’t do anything about it. I love shopping at the hot topic in my mall, but this experience has not made me want to order anything online from Hot Topic ever again.

Five stars, love the staff and products
I absolutely love hot topic they have everything you could possibly want. Everything from jewelry to horror products and funny stuff and of course goth and langeria items. I always walk out happy and the staff works hard and are very cool and hip non judgmental in the store.
Pants sizes
I’ve been shopping at hot topic for a couple years now and every time I go to the pants area they never have plus size. I’ve only found pants that fit me once and it was the only plus size in the store. I think it’s unfair that they don’t have sizes for everyone and the only way you can get them is by buying them online, they should have them in store like everywhere else.
So frustrating
So frustrating. One of the worst online shopping experiences I’ve ever had. I can’t even shop at the one at my local mall because they’re closing down so they have barely anything stocked and it’s almost empty. Customer support is terrible. I tried to place an order twice and it kept saying error. Luckily I was using gift cards but it still took all of the balance and I never got refunded. I contacted customer support and they said they reloaded it back into the cards but I tried to buy the same things again using the same gift cards and it said I have no remaining balance. Seriously. It’s not worth it. They’re scamming people.

Online Shopping Needs Improvement
The online ordering experience for hottopic is a mixed bag. Aside from frequent lags and glitches with the website itself, the layout is a bit dated and could be made more user friendly. It could also be organized better. The size guides could be better, there should be an option in your orders to review your items instead of searching for them, and they could do with larger sizes and more options for some of their apparel like the shoes. The shoes themselves need better quality inspection too, because I've ordered boots in the past that quite literally fell apart on humid, hot days in the summer because they were only held together by an adhesive of some kind, probably rubber cement or craft glue.
The shipping usually isn't an issue, albeit slow at times and some of the coupons barely save you any cash by the end total, but the products are usually pretty good in quality. I've personally shopped with this chain store for 15 years, mostly online, and I've only had one or two negative experiences with the customer support system. Usually, they're not too bad and helpful.
Overall, the online shopping experience isn't terrible, but not the best. However, if you read details, reviews, sizes, and understand it that it usually takes about 1 - 2 weeks for shipping and delivery, you'll be less inclined to have a bad experience.

Everything that was ordered online was late. Ordered for delivery to store thinking it would be faster and it was even worse! Did the chat thing online and that was total waste of time. Still haven't gotten my order. Was told it could be at the store sometime this week between Monday and Friday! Won't shop there again!
Crap return policy
Got a tee shirt for Christmas. Was too small. Still had all tags attached. Went to store for exchange or store credit. Was told I needed to have ORIGINAL receipt even AFTER I told her it was a gift. Was told nothing they could do because I did not have an account with them.
They don't have it in stock, even if they say they do
They don't know what is in stock on the website, so you order and then they slowly cancel one item after another.
