Let me tell you how god awful, lazy, complacent and unhelpful this company are. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone they are slow and have been managing an easy purchase which has somehow taken 6 months! The solicitor decided to go on holiday for 2 weeks but not tell anyone or pass any info on. There are some good reviews on here but you’ll probably end up having a horrendous time like us. I’ll be making a formal complaint that’s for sure. Useless.

Dont bother using these for med neg cases .Staff are rude & dont listen to a word you say and if you want statistics about the company they dont appear to have any what a joke !Med neg appears to be the biggest scam out there these companies run up bills from your pain then claim them through insurance and the victim leaves without a penny very ethicial dont you think ........Always ask for the statistics first !

Howells have been acting on behalf of our buyers on a property that we accepted an offer on in May 2024. Howells have been extremely poor throughout the process, which is still not completed in May 2025, one year later. The purchase has been passed onto to multiple different solicitors to deal with, they have made repeated mistakes and taken excessively long periods of time to respond which has delayed the whole process. I would not use Howells to purchase or sell a property.

Used Howells when moving house last year. While we understood there were delays around the end of the stamp duty holiday, we experienced a further month of delay after draft papers were received, which was later acknowledged by the firm.

Communication was largely reactive rather than proactive. The online portal was not updated in a timely way, and we often had to contact the firm for progress updates.

Shortly before exchange, we were informed that our mortgage offer was due to expire and that completion needed to take place the following day to avoid significant risk. This was raised very late in the process and caused considerable and avoidable stress at an already difficult point in the move.

The firm offered a £200 goodwill payment, which we accepted, but they did not agree that earlier communication would have been appropriate.

Based on our experience, we would not choose to use Howells again.

Overall, my experience with the firm was positive. Shaynie was brilliant throughout the process — always helpful, quick to respond, and clear in her communication. She genuinely made things easier and was consistently reliable.
There are a couple of areas that could be improved. The overall speed of delivery was slower than expected, and on a few occasions certain actions weren’t completed as they should have been, which caused some delays. They need to improve also on me having to print documents myself and use interactive PDF or similar, which means I can get on with it quickly, rather than having to print things off
Despite this, the service was solid, and thanks to Shaynie’s support it was mostly a smooth experience. With a bit more consistency and faster turnaround times, this would easily be a five‑star service

I have made a few property sales and purchases over the years and can categorically say that this has been far and away the best experience. Communications with the company have been excellent and fees very reasonable. I would use Howells Solicitors again without hesitation.
