Experts at dodging responsibility & taking your money

(Vive experience)
If you're looking for a company with trustworthy customer service, avoid this one. Anything goes wrong, You'll either get yourself a missing item in return for your warranty or charged for inspection fees out the bum for as little as a scratch completely unrelated to the issue you were having.
Check the vive reddit, made a post for the full story there it's called
"feel like im being ripped off warranty issue"

Dont 'Technically' violate EU Law

Do the absolute minimum not to violate your EU right the return or cancel an order. So much so that they need to put "(this policy does not limit your statutory rights which are outlined in Digital River’s Terms of Sale)" in the link for their refund policy on the HTC Vive customer service page.

They go out of their way to make returns a product as hard as they can get away. Including making you ship the return to Romania even through you bought it in the UK and it never stated anyway in the sales process that the order would be shipped from outside the UK and when there is a valid Ireland returns address stated in the aforementioned 'Terms of Sale'

Customer service was bare bones; 'We need X' 'You must do X' no feeling that you're talking to a person. To be honest you could replace it with a robot and at least get quicker responses.

I was happy with my HTC until I lost…

I was happy with my HTC until I lost Messenger, Whats App and Google Play. I purchased it through Optus so went to the Optus store to see what was wrong. I was told that HTC stopped apps working after a certain period of time if they were not frequently used. These apps could not be restored and I was advised to purchase a new mobile avoiding HTC. Total disgust is how I feel. That anyone can decide when and how I use my mobile phone and choose to close apps down with absolutely no regard or warning is beyond belief.

Appalling customer care. I will not buy another HTC

I bought HTC U12 life. After just over a month texts went silent. Much discussion with HTC - they wouldn't replace, it went for repair. Got lost in their system. 6 weeks later, got phone back. The texts have now gone silent again. They will not replace and want to repair. They think it is acceptable that the phone worked for 6 weeks. I run a business and am not responding to text messages because I don't know they are there. HTC will not give a phone while mine is in for repair so I need to buy another one. Absolutely disgusted with their policies and lack of understanding for the customers needs. Iwill not be buying another HTC.

Shockingly bad customer service

Shockingly bad customer service. Needed a replacement charger cable which they didn't sell on their website, no other cable I've tried (I've tried a lot) charges my phone correctly so the phone battery drops fast (within an hour of a full charge) and dies at 20% left.

HTC advised I buy one from eBay, I was not satisfied with this as they're not genuine products. Phone calls to HTC went on for several weeks during which I was told I'd be called back, that never happened.

Last time I called I was told they've already send out a replacement, yet they hadn't asked for an address yet so that was clearly bull.

Do not bother with HTC, especially if in the UK as the moment you have a problem your stuck.

Probably the worst phone replacement a…

Probably the worst phone replacement a d repair service I have ever had . Was a HTC customer for a few years until I had the misfortune of sending my phone in for repair and they sent the phone back to the wrong address and made me wait another three weeks until a replacement came back into stock. No follow up on the handset that went astray..probably stolen by the address, no apology and no returned phone calls despite many promises that a manager would call me . No offer of compensation just crap service..as a result I switched to Samsung and have never looked back . DONT BUY HTC PHONES CRAP SERVICE AND THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS AT ALL.

VR headset never arrived, no refund 2 months later (solved)

Edit: I actually got my refund less than a day after I published this review. However this is due only to PayPal siding with me. My problem is solved now but no thanks to HTC!

I purchased a Vive headset in May and a few weeks after I realized that the product was being sent to an old address that was on my PayPal rather than the address I input when I made the order.

I decided to contact them and see if I could reverse the order or change the shipping address. I was told that I would have to wait until it reached the address and didn't get delivered. I was hesitant about this because the address is an apartment and anyone living there could accept it. For weeks I waited but the package tracker code I was given wasn't updated properly. After some time I contacted support again to which they replied that it had already been returned and that a refund would be made.

Fast forward a bit and the refund hasn't come through in their "10 day refund period" to which they assured me would be all it took. Keep in mind that they have lied to me multiple times but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt.

After the ten day grace period and no money to show for it, I was then told that they couldn't refund the money because I had opened a dispute on PayPal. I did this specifically because I couldn't trust HTC support, especially after they literally told me to drop the dispute or they wouldn't "be able" to give me a full refund.

This to me set off red flags and I'm glad I trusted my gut this time because as it turns out, issuing a full refund automatically closes the dispute AND asking people to close a dispute before you've refunded them is an actual practice employed by shady sellers. Maybe they'd give me the refund if I dropped the dispute but due to the incompetence and lies, there isn't a chance in hell that I'd let them have full control over my half grand.

Fast forward to today, I escalated the dispute a few weeks ago to let PayPal take care of it for me. Unfortunately HTC is not communicating with PayPal so it seems I'll be stuck waiting until PayPal decides to just pull the money from them. They've ceased communication with me and have even blocked the email I was using to contact them with. (Note that they blocked me just before I escalated the dispute)

I'm not really sure what to do at this point other than to share my experience with this terrible customer support but I'm glad that I'm not the only one who's had trouble with them.

Overall I'm frustrated and this only furthers my anxiety towards customer service. I'm sure I'll get my money back eventually but the fact that I had to slog through all that and still have nothing to show for it 2 months later says a lot.

poor repairs and poor expensive phone

u11 had it 14months ,and rear camera started playing up .sent back for fault repair took around 3 weeks ,came back with marks and damaged casing . week or 2 later it developed an audio playing issue sent back for repair and again lasted a week or 2 ,fed up with having to keep saving my stuff to reset ,to send in and wait another 3-4 weeks .so decided as warranty period nearly up to repair myself ,lets just say what an f *** up they have done ,screw missing out of board ,one that has the head damaged and another that was cross threaded ,plus metal contact pad broken .
thought htc were great build had one yrs ago and seemed bullet proof had it for over 3 yrs till issue, after having some other phone that didn't seem to last decided to go back to htc and get the best ,but guess they are worst now than any other ,safe to say not be buying there product again

WARNING

WARNING! - AWFUL SUPPORT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE After years of using and investing in HTC, their repair centre are charging me a criminal £300 for a HTC10 BATTERY change because the phone "is out of region" (bought outside UK). It doesn't say anywhere in their T&C they won't repair those phones. I lost £40 just to have someone stare at it, run a couple of automated tests and decide you need an all new motherboard at an over inflated price for a 2 year old phone. This is after weeks of chat conversations where they knew the phone was out of region but didn't tell me that would be an issue. This is what you get for investing time and money in them. Will never buy again, will make sure to tell people not to.

Not sure why people are giving so much bad reviews about more than good phone company, I am totally happy with my HTC one and looking for more good news from them, hope they will be alive and kicking for a very very long time anyway.

Bad customer service

I really like HTC products but I have to say that their customer service is bad. I bought a new phone and there were some dead pixels after a month. I called them, nothing. Busy signal. All day long. I wrote en email, no response after 10 days. I stopped trying on the phone. I went to the shop and they said they could not do anything, that I had to call their customer service. I do not know what to do. I'll keep writing and start calling again. What else can I do?

Received broken product, RMA took 5 months.

I purchased an HTC Vive, and the only reason I'm not giving 1 star is my love for the Vive as a product. But the quality control and customer service at HTC? Holy crap.

One of my Vive base stations was DOA. They ordered I pay extra shipping costs for the RMA. This went back and forth for a month, until they realized they were legally obligated to handle all costs related to replacing my faulty product. Sent the Base Station in. Told to wait 2 weeks. Waited a month. Nothing. periodically called and emailed HTC for status on the base station. Told every time repairs HADN'T EVEN STARTED. Eventually reported HTC for scamming me to Paypal, which I had used for the purchase. Luckily, got a refund and bought a base station from Amazon. Never had to send back the Vive. Was finally able to use the Vive 4 months after originally receiving it, once I bought a new base station. Surprisingly, I received the repaired base station back from HTC another month later. Glad I did too, because not long after that another base station stopped working and reported a manufacturer defect error.

tl; dr; Bought a Vive, it came with a broken part, sent it in for repairs and got it back 5 months later, after I'd already got a refund and bought a base station myself. Then another one broke, reporting manufacturer defect.

Ignorant or very poorly trained techs.

I have used HTC phones for maybe 6 years, since I first bought a Rezound. Loved them, loved their look and feel. I am on my second 10, because my first one started having battery problems after two years. Actually I am on my 4th; the second wouldn't hold a charge, the screen on the third had no relationship between where my finger was and a key I was trying to touch; the fourth has been very well-behaved for 6 weeks since I received it, until Monday, when the screen kept flashing on/off on the lock screen, and turning off after 25 seconds whenever I was lucky enough to get past the lock screen. And occasionally, I would get a different screen: black, with a large green circle, outside a red circle, wherein the clock resided. And below that, sometimes a weather icon, sometimes a facebook icon, sometimes a mail icon. If I swiped them up, the circle would show a phone, and the words "open the cover to continue" or something like that, would appear. I told all of this 3 times to HTC support. No one had ever heard of something like this, and all suggested I do a factory reset, which I did this morning. It opened to a flashing screen...maybe an hour ago, I got passed the lock screen and was looking at apps to remove. And came across IceView, an HTC app. Opening it, I saw the clock screen in question. I immediately uninstalled their program, and the phone is apparently working great. I wasted about 90' on the phone with techs who were either completely untrained, or who didn't care that software their company sold didn't work. None of them knew what the screen was.
I simply can't conceive of ever buying another HTC phone; I am saddened and appalled. I doubt that I will hear from them, even after I have given permission for them to have this review.

One of the worst i ever came across.

HTC repair and customer service has to be the worst i ever came across.
As a person who deals with many technology companies due to my work they really are in a different low level.

Well for start there is no direct phone line to contact customer support and only way is either via email or time consuming chat line.

I contacted them as my HTC U11 phone start having some dead pixels around the screen, also phone was keep rebooting time to time, screen issue was just some dead pixel, otherwise it was almost new.
Logged the case on 8th March and send the fully secure packed phone on 13th.
One week later a company in Poland ( Regenersis ) send me a quote for repair for £580, ( brand new phone is £420 in HTC website) , with a picture attach showing a smashed up screen.
Contacted HTC again, asking them to investigate as the picture clearly wasn't the phone i send them or at least wasn't my phone, and as the phone was packed in 4 layer of pocket and bubble warp there was no way it was damage in UPS post.
Thankfully i had couple picture from my phone screen which i did send to them before they accepting the phone for repair as they wanted to see the dead pixels, and in those picture you can see the screen wasn't broken, or had a single scratch.

they said they will investigate and will contact me withing 3-5 days.
10 days past, still nothing, again have to contact them.

This will be the last time i use any HTC phone devises, and as a city CIB corporate Tech adviser/journalist will make sure none of my corporate customers will go near HTC devices.
ended up buying a Samsung phone as back up.

HTC Customer Service what customer service there is none.

The U12 phone is a good phone except the glass. Glass scratched within 36 days of owning just by picking up off table. Called customer support and even though only 6 days after warranty they were not willing to help. They only would do repairs and don't even cover the cost of sending in the phone. I have owned their phones for years and put through hell in the military and never had an issue, now new phone quality has gone down hill along with their support for customers. Probably why they don't sell them anymore in the US and have to buy directly through website. Went through 3 customers support people and yet nothing was resolved and tried to blame me for phone issues. Will never be going through them ever again when this phone is done. They had great phones in the past but seems they don't care about them or customers anymore.

Make sure you don't forget to…

Make sure you don't forget to unsubscribe to Viveport, if you don't like the service. I used the 2 months trial code just because it came with the Vive, never played anything because their selection had nothing of interest , forgot to turn off auto renewal and I got charged for 2 more months after. It was clearly my fault, but that's a scummy practice and the Viveport support team took 1 week to reply to my email, saying - No refunds! Thank you, come again!

Htc 10 explodes

I bought an htc 10 for my sister as a present...less than a year later the battery exploded and almost burned my sister's hands and the office .. We contacted the local htc service center only to have them say the warranty was over , which didnt make sense because a phone shouldnt explode under any circumstances . we contacted the htc dubai , they asked to send them the unit , and after sending it , they just kept calling every week saying they had made no decision and have no feedback to give . after over 7-8months of the same thing i asked to have the unit sent back as it was meaningless and going nowhere with customer service...they also refused to send an official report as to what they found out ..its the last time i'll let any1 buy from htc again friends or family or any stranger even ...dont know what to do next
