Buggy software that doesn't do the back up. Slow customer support - took several weeks to resolve. Also, its expensive. Pity because it would otherwise be a good product.

I've been using them for over 5 years now and I've had outstanding experiences. I have a a lot of streaming video I backup and also some basic desktop PC, music and photos. Much of my backups are from external drives and I have only ever had one issue, that tech support quickly helped resolve. Once a year they will also send you an encrypted drive if you have a lot of data to backup to add at one time. You send it back and they upload it to your account. Works great and is free. For a personal backup system, it's fairly sophisticated but if you have some patience and some computer experience, it's manageable to setup and maintain. Some of the negative reviews appear to be more user related than system issues, in my opinion. Their log files have been useful in debugging any issues and the backups run unattended on computers that support background services to run properly. Especially if you have a few TB's of data, highly recommend.
The Cloud Drive basically doesn't work!
It all sounded great until I tried to use it. I had a discrepancy between the contents of the Cloud Drive on my two computers - after 2 hours on their help chat we appeared to have resolved the issue, and the files were consistent between the two computers. A couple a weeks later I went to get a file from the cloud drive and it wasn't there. On investigation there were big discrepancies between the contents of the cloud drive on the two computers, and on on one of them literally thousands of files in various folders had simply vanished! (I had not deleted them!). Luckily my files were still safely stored with my old provider so I will be returning to them and asking for a refund. Pretty basic stuff - if it loses my files, I'm gone!

Painfully slow upload and download speeds. They hook you in with generous offers and pricing, but once you try it out, your files will be uploading and downloading very slowly and it's not worth the hassle. You will never get to use your storage. If they're willing to fix that issue then, I would reconsider. But the product is barely useable.

Tech support sucks. I will never recommend this company. Their tech support is terrible. You can not use what they provide. They are rude and do not help users.

#Every time you log in you get to stare at, and click on, small fuzzy pictures of motorcycles, bridges, bicycles, etc. Sometimes several of these in sequence. What a pain! If you're so serious about security, just email me a code.
#Their software is buggy. I backed up a directory tree, then found I couldn't navigate into one of the backed up directories. Not on their Windows program. Not on their website. I submitted a query about this to technical support; they never got back to me.
#They don't do an exact backup. They skip empty directories. These may be placeholders that a program requires. This is unacceptable. A backup should be an exact replica of what's on the hard drive.
#Technical support is spotty. Sometimes they get back to you, sometimes they don't. This is unacceptable. When I submit a ticket I need an answer.
#Pricing is all over the place. I've seen different deals on different websites, all on the same day. I signed up for 500G storage for $9.95, only to see 5 Terabyte storage for $9.95 on their website a few days later. This makes me feel like I was ripped off.
#In conclusion: This is a cloud backup solution that is not ready for prime time.

Easy to signup, makes it complicated to cancel subscription. SHABY, besty avoid

We had this service a few years ago, but it auto-renewed at a much higher rate and we decided to cancel. Later we decided to rejoin, but I downloaded the wrong product, and cancelled it via phone. I thought it was all done and gone Today I find a huge "auto renewal" charge for Idrive-- from the erroneous subscription. The agent says I must wait for someone to contact me in two days and then I must respond to an email. It sounds like an obvious delaying tactic and another way to keep your money as long as possible. Check your ethics Idrive! We will not be using this service in the future and hope to find one that is more ethical about renewals and refunds.

IDrive has possibly the very worst support function of any company I have had an account with. The user interface is not easy to understand for the layman. The backup process takes so long I gave up and requested a disk via IDrive Express. This took over 30 hours to do the backup. Support did not answer my questions properly across a number of emails and then they stopped helping me at all. PR asked for my ticket number, which they got, and did nothing. My advice would be to steer well clear of IDrive.

Terrible user interface. not user friendly at all. hard to manage.

Not that good!
Very cheap for 10Tb
The problem is that I wanted to Sync 5 directories totalling around 1.5Gb but IDrive doesn’t take the data direct from my Hdd.
It generates its own directory and the 1.5Gb gets copied into there.
The issue is that my ssd is only 2Tb so this doesn’t work.
Their solution was to do a straight backup.
This would be a pain as I have to do daily backups which takes days!
Also if the internet connection drops, it has to start again.
This is why I wanted Sync, so after the initial transfer, only the changed or new files are transferred, which takes a few minutes.
Further to Idrive’s comments below re support. I have been in touch with them as indicated above, but they can’t help with my issue.
I want realtime Sync not Backup. I have a 4Tb SSD for backup.

I have been using the Desktop app with the free plan for small configuration files and other stuff. The function and option of the app were ok for me.
This summer i get an e-mail that the Free plan will become a 30 day trial in one moth from the email and after that only paid option.
Closer to the deadline i noticed they had the Basic free plan still on their site. Contacting support i was informed that they are still evaluation that transition.
As you can guessed that e-mail was just an empty threat to make you opt to a paid option as after the first mail i have received another after a month with the same threat.
Also when i signed up the free option was 5GB. Nowadays they bumped it to 10gb. But i stil l have 5gb band they refuse to update my quota.
I would not trust this company to be a reliable and decent company.

The upload and download speeds are so low, it might have been faster to mail a physical flash drive.
Also, the interface is also old-fashioned.

DONT USE IT!
I have been trying to restore my photos from IDrive back to my device for last 2 months and still no luck despite multiple emails , phone calls . It’s shocking how they can produce a fraud service and charge us !

I was reading some of the reviews here, and wondered if it was more user lack of understanding of the process. I have versioning on my backups AND I have multiple computers saved, even when those computers are no longer running. Yes, if you delete that computer, you delete the files from that computer. I have always said that their tutorials/guidance is pretty lame. One reviewer said that he couldn't see whether a file was backed up properly. You can click into the Details on the log. As a best practice, I go in periodically and delete files with ~ in front of them. Those are files saved while open and being worked on, basically a temporary save of a file, so those can overwhelm the storage. And my Trash doesn't empty properly, even after 30 days, but that doesn't count against me. I also like the ability to have a Private Encryption Key, which satisfies a bunch of regulations.
The IDrive Mini is one of the cheapest online backup services on the market - and it shows. Backup is extremely slow, and some of my files got corrupted during backup.
I went to cancel my plan, and it was absolute agony navigating to the site - it is extremely slow, up to the point of breaking functionality.
The real zinger, however, is that I cannot cancel auto-renew, because my password is incorrect. Which is interesting, seeing as how I use a password manager, and I am 100% sure the password is correct (after all, I used it to log in).
Between the lack of data integrity, the slow site, and the illegal retention policy, I recommend you give IDrive a wide berth.

I-Drive is absolutely terrible. Like others have mentioned their online backup runs at the speed of dial up which is not acceptable. I have contacted their technical support four times so far and have received one automated pre written and useless response and the other times I was ignored. I later chatted with their poor excuse of technical support who's lack of understanding demonstrated they is not technically competent or knowledgably about their software. As of now nobody has contacted me and the problem remains unaddressed and unresolved.

This backup solution is by far the most disappointing I've encountered. It offers the option to back up the entire computer and files to the cloud, but here's the issue: if you remove a computer, it also erases the files stored in the cloud drive.
I initially chose to back up my entire external drive, only to lose all of my data when I removed the computer. Subsequently, I discovered that "computers" referred to devices where I've logged in on IDrive. This distinction was rather confusing, as it muddled the concept of computer backups.
To clarify, I never intended to back up the computer itself.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of using Idrive's services, and I must say that it has been nothing short of a nightmare. From the moment I signed up, I was met with catastrophic slow connections and software that was practically unusable. It's safe to say that most of the positive reviews out there are nothing more than PR marketing spin.
First and foremost, the connection speed with Idrive is beyond abysmal. Uploading and downloading files feels like trying to move mountains with a teaspoon. It's as if they're running their servers on dial-up from the 90s. This snail-paced connection speed made backing up and retrieving my data an excruciatingly painful process. In today's fast-paced digital world, Idrive's speed is simply unacceptable.
Navigating through their software is like trying to find a needle in a haystack, and seems like it was designed by a high school student for a class project. It's astonishing how a company can provide such subpar software in this day and age.
After struggling with Idrive for three frustrating days, I finally reached my breaking point. I was left with no choice but to abandon that ship, leaving my money in their hands as I sought refuge with another cloud storage and backup service (which I won't mention to avoid any appearance of promoting a rival).
I can't help but feel that most of the positive reviews about Idrive are nothing but a PR marketing scheme. It's hard to believe that anyone could have a positive experience with their service given the numerous problems I encountered.
In conclusion, Idrive is a company that should be avoided at all costs. Don't be fooled by their marketing – you'll regret it if you choose to use their services.
Idrive proved to be a massive disappointment, and I strongly advise anyone considering their services to think twice. Save yourself the headache, frustration, and wasted time, and choose a reputable company that values its customers and provides a service that actually works. Your data and peace of mind deserve better than what Idrive has to offer.

I was looking for a good cloud backup service to upload all my devices' photos and videos. After doing some research online, I came across iDrive. I honestly think they offer a good price and ample storage space. I have their app on my tablet, phone and PC and it's peefect for my needs. It offers automatic backup for photos and videos, which is what I was looking for. Plus, I get 10 Terabytes of storage which is awesome.
works well and inexpensive compared to other offerings
