Cash for Courses over quality content 2 day instructors
This review relates to The two day instructors course over 4 evenings.
It is a very quick run through of subjects including learning theory and body language. Throughout the presentation there were links on the slides so that you could buy additional courses from IMDT I also lost count the times webinars and other courses were mentioned by the instructor.
The instructor was friendly and clearly knowledgable and controlled the online chat box very well switching it off regularly to stop the constant chatter. He also came online early to answer training queries. The course is delivered at quite a fast pace.
I came away with very little increased understanding of learning theory and while the 4 day instructors course was pushed for the umpteenth time I would not feel at all confirming doing that from this course.
I like IMDT, Steve Mann and the rest of the team I have had contact with previously but seriously felt from this course the organisation is becoming a cash cow. There were repeats of videos they have displayed before which was fortunate as the videos were laggy and impossible to identify body language from. It was mentioned In the chat the replays were not functioning properly but wasn’t picked up.
Overall not terribly impressed by the standard of course content and it has changed my previously very positive view of the IMDT.

This was such a fantastic 4 days
This was such a fantastic 4 days. The instructors were so supportive and encouraging, and their knowledge was immense! I thoroughly enjoyed it and just wish it could have been longer! I wanted to gain some practical experience to go alongside the Level 4 behaviour correspondence course and this made a lot of things fall into place for me. I would highly recommend to both budding trainers and behaviourists. Thank you IMDT!

EASY PEASY PUPPY INSTRUCTOR COURSE
🌟 I’m officially an IMDT Easy Peasy Puppy Instructor! 🐶🐾
Two weeks ago, I took part in the three day Easy Peasy Puppy Instructor Course in West Sussex – and what an incredible experience it was!
Despite teaching puppy classes for the past two years, I was amazed at how much I learned. The course was packed with practical knowledge, real-life strategies, and fresh perspectives that I can’t wait to bring into my future puppy classes and 1:1 sessions.
A huge thank you to Steve Mann and Tania Chappelle Imdt , who delivered the course with so much energy, passion, and humour. It was fun, inspiring, and so supportive from start to finish – exactly what dog training should feel like!
And... I’m so proud to say… I passed my assessment! 🥳 I’m now officially part of the Easy Peasy family and currently celebrating with a well-earned glass of fizz (served in my fabulous new Easy Peasy branded mug, of course! 😜🧡☕️)
If you’re thinking about deepening your puppy training knowledge or adding something special to your practice – I couldn’t recommend this course enough!

Usually I find video based learning to be inferior to in person by a fair amount, but IMDT have bridged that gap magnificently!

A nice organisation to work with.
I had booked last year but just before my dog became terminally ill, however the IMDT held my payment over and I went on the 2 Day course a couple of weeks ago.
It was a dog-less 2 days but a good theoretical intro. As always realising how much more there is to learn. Including Practical would have been useful but not practical for just the 2 days. The trainer was very knowledgeable and gave down to earth answers to all the questions. I enjoyed it. I thin

Very undermining experience
I recently attended the 4 day practical course hoping to gain confidence. As someone who struggles with public speaking but loves training dogs, I was excited (though nervous) to practise teaching a class - something that’s outside of my comfort zone.
For the first few days, I received positive feedback from fellow attendees after my practise classes, but none from the instructors, which would have been helpful at this stage.
On the final day, I wanted to challenge myself more, and so I did a practise 20 minute class on "walking backwards", in which my method involved using a mat target and guiding the dog back so their back paws touch the mat, using treats and luring (no harm or force involved) - this is a trick I've successfully taught my dogs before, as someone who does trick training and canine freestyle. It was a method I was proud of and had planned in detail, while also having other methods as a back up incase some dogs were struggling with it, because I know what might work for one dog may not work for another.
However, I was immediately shut down by the instructor, who took over and made it seem like my approach was completely wrong and negative. Though I value feedback, his delivery was very undermining and left me feeling embarrassed in front of others. I had a full plan, including solutions for dogs who might've struggled with this trick, but I didn’t get a chance to show it. It felt like he took all the credit for my session, especially when the others gave his technique a go and were really impressed with his approach. This was really disheartening, as I wanted to be able to give my own advice and tips.
Afterwards, he gave me private feedback and mentioned to me 1-2-1 that I did really well and was 'one of the best'. While this was nice to hear, it also felt a bit confusing after I had just been humilated in front of everyone else. I went on to share with him about my future plans of becoming a dog trainer, specifically in trick training. While he did offer me some guidance, he also mentioned that I wouldn’t get many clients in trick training as not many people would be interested in that. While I understand the need for realism, his response felt discouraging rather than supportive. I hoped for mentorship and a constructive path forward - not to have my goals brushed off.
The course seemed like it was more for them to show off their own skills and methods, not really considering any other techniques. They're a very “my way or no way” company and it felt patronising, while dismissing any existing knowledge and ideas from those attending the course.
I was initially excited to recommend this course to my large social media following, however, based on my experience, I no longer feel comfortable doing so.
