Servers unable to handle the Christmas rush

I recently renewed my membership and signed up for another two years, now I see perhaps this was a mistake.

With a service like the one they provide, it will obviously be very much more busy at Christmas than other times of the year. It looks like their systems are not designed to handle temporary peaks in traffic. Their system became completely unusable, I tried about 6 or 7 times to send a card before I gave up.

Fortunately this year I received a card from an outfit called "Dont Send Me a Card" a competitor to Jacquie Lawson. I gave them a try and it worked perfectly. Their cards might not have the cute look of the Jacquie Lawson cards their system works and it includes a donation to charity.

I'm a happy long time user

I really can't understand where all these negative reviews have come from. I have been using Jacquie Lawson Cards online for over 10 years. I have never had any issues and certainly have never had any aggressive pushing as to purchase the product when I've been sent cards by other people.
The cards are really beautiful and have lots of options for greetings and some alternative music.
I've never had issues with renewing my membership and always get a notification when people have reviewed my cards.
I like the fact that I can email friends & family from my stored address book in the app, as well as put cards directly on friends pages on Facebook or copy the link to send cards via WhatsApp.
As far as I'm concerned this is and has always been a fabulous company for ecards and advent calendars.

Something very wrong at Jacquie Lawson cards

I have used Jackie Lawson for years to send ecards.

Due to illness and other reasons, I wasn't able to send cards this year until today, Christmas Eve.

Every time this evening I tried to get onto the website from my laptop I kept getting a message "blocked".

When I tried on my mobile, I got onto the website, but then when I tried to log on I got a message "internal server error".

Then I got a message that my email or password were wrong (both were correct), and that I should reset my password.

When I clicked on "reset your password" I got another message saying there was an internal server error.

This is just unacceptable. I am a paid up subscriber, and all the people I need to send cards to are saved on the Jacquie Lawson website.

I have no idea what is wrong, and I can't even get onto the website to contact them.

2025 Advent calendar

Like many others on this site, I too have purchased the 2025 Advent calendar for myself and for my daughter. The calendar is disappointing for all the reasons others have listed. Mine has worked fine. Hers quit working after day 5. I have messaged them Dec 6 via their Facebook page. I finally got a response after 4 days stating they are short staffed and people were sick. Not really my problem. Fast forward to today Dec 23, and her calendar is still not fixed. They keep saying she needs to log into her account and download the replacement. Firstly, she doesn’t have the account, I do. I see the replacement calendar under my name. They said the email address had an error in it or was the wrong one. I suspect from the circular discussions we had ,they are getting the two of us mixed up. Assigning my name with her email. They also kept saying they had issued a refund. To date,I don’t see it. The original card I used to purchase had to be reissued due to it being involved in a scam. I have updated my card info on their site. They insisted that the refund has to be issued to the original payment method and I had to chase down the payment with my bank!! I replied that I wasn’t chasing $10 and promptly canceled my auto renewal. I will use other greeting card online companies. Their customer service is indeed abysmal.

Jacquie Lawson cards are all about selling subscriptions

A friend sent me a Jacquie Lawson ecard. The notice included an access code. I tried multiple times but always ended up at a place that required me to $ subscribe. I downloaded the app but the experience was the same. Sell! Sell! Sell! I deleted the app. (Buyer beware: I think my friend got cheated!)

Steer clear.

I used this company a year or two ago and decided to sign up again a few days ago. Paid the fee and decided to send some e cards. Every single time I try to log in I get the "e mail or password not correct" message. They ARE correct! Its impossible to get in touch with them and I'm sick of having to create a new password every time i want to send a card. Didn't realise how poor others found them too. Will leave well alone next year and will not recommend to anyone.

I have emailed the so called helpline…

I have emailed the so called helpline on the 7th, 10th 17th and 22nd of December and am still waiting for a reply.
Payment in 2024 was not recognised untill too late for the birtday and christmas period of that year.
The payment date was later agreed by the company to be their mistake and the expiry date was extended to cover 2025 christmas period.
This year the same thing has happened and I was not able to use my account, hence the 4 x unanswered emails.

Short-changed

I bought the 2025 Advent calendar as a gift for a few people only to find that at least one of the recipients when she clicked on the daily Christmas bauble just told her that instead of seeing the day's item, told her that she would have to sign in (she doesn't have an account) or pay to see the item. I emailed the company with no response. I paid a lot of money to them for these gifts.
Additionally, how on earth they came up with the monotonous dirge of a carol 'Sylvian joululaulu-Topelius/callan! It is nauseating .

The worst one so far

I have bought the Advent calendar every year since they started and this year is by far and away the most disappointing.
Before opening I thought the idea of building a village would be a good one, but in fact it is dull, dull, dull.
I miss the daily opening of a surprise in the central building, this year a cottage, where the only new thing each day is the building appearing on a shelf.
This also means that you have to remember where the games are in the village if you want to go back and play again, instead of being able to find them in one place. I would gladly sacrifice being able to do puzzles and games before 1st December to have them gradually introduced throughout the month. I have stopped bothering to visit the cottage on a daily basis.
The jigsaws this year are really small, and the background colour makes it hard to see the shape of the pieces. I have stopped bothering on my phone.
The Santa game remains addictive and the snowball fight is also fun. The other old favourites are all there, thank goodness.
All in all I am glad that I reset last year's calendar, as it is way more interesting.

Another disappointed customer

I'm adding my voice to those disappointed in JLs 2025 calendar. Perhaps it's been generated by AI that was told "Do something like past years". An uninspired offering, and repetitive music from prior years' calendars. I hope that the American Greetings people take note, and put more creative effort into the 2026 edition.

Can't understand the bad reviews

I'm writing this to balance all the negative reviews, which don't mirror my experience at all. I've been using this company for years, as I appreciate their lovely tasteful e-cards with pleasant music - and the ones with teddies which never fail to entertain. No bad experiences, no problems renewing. Maybe I've just been lucky, but anyway I am one satisfied customer.

Strong Consumer Warning

Strong Consumer Warning

I purchased and used the Jackie Lawson digital card app for over a year and initially loved it. The cards are beautiful, creative, and charming, and I sent many of them to friends and family.

What I did not realize—until after sending dozens of cards—is that recipients are subjected to aggressive marketing prompts encouraging them to buy the Jackie Lawson app. I was genuinely embarrassed to learn this. People receiving what should have been a simple, thoughtful greeting were instead met with sales pressure that I had no control over.

I searched thoroughly for a way to send a card without the added marketing and found there is no option to do so. This is unacceptable. When I pay for a product, I should not unknowingly be turned into a marketing channel.

Because of this, I will not use the app again. If you are considering this service, be aware that your recipients will be marketed to—and you cannot opt out.

No longer renewing -- abysmal customer support

After several years of enjoying some lovely cards and advent calendars, this year I, like many others (it seems from reviews I've read), will not be renewing my subscription. JL's customer service does indeed suck. I lost 6 months use of a 2 year subscription. When I contacted JL in June about not being able to access the account, they failed to answer. When I contacted them again in early November, they answered, but informed me that I must have input a secondary email (answering to the same email as my account) -- not the case. When I responded again, they just didn't answer -- after all the subscription was near it's end by this point, why bother? At no point did they offer any form of compensation or credit for the lost months. Indeed, at first, they just totally ignored that issue and dealt with my issue as if it were only a "malfunctioning account" issue.

2025 advent calendar problems

On 15 Nov ordered the 2025 advent calendar for 3 friends and 1 for myself. My friends all work perfectly, but on day 4 for me, I was unable to use the calendar. A message on screen stated there was no record of the calendar activated on the email address. I emailed them on 4th Dec with screenshots of the message. Received an automated reply. Received an email on 10 Dec asking for further info, I replied immediately & to date ( 20 Dec ) have received no further communication from them. To say I’m disappointed and angry is an understatement

I have bought the Jacquie Lawson Advent…

I have bought the Jacquie Lawson Advent Calendar for so many years now, but I have been very disappointed with this year's calendar. The cottage is usually filled with fun games; this year, although the decorating abilities were increased, there are nothing but a few puzzles in the cottage. Most of the games seem to have been moved to the daily ornaments, meaning that one has to wait until the day to enjoy them. The Hint function for the daily Find the Elf has been removed again, making it so frustrating that I just gave up messing with that after only a few days. I can't even say the daily videos are of the usual fun and quality. Overall, I am intensely disappointed.

Review--2025 Jacquie Lawson Advent calendar

This is a review of the 2025 Jacquie Lawson Advent calendar. It's the sixth year I have bought it but such a crushing disappointment.
The find-the-elf feature that I have loved is useless this year. The elves are standing there in your face, for the most part. I looked forward to the search so much each morning but not this year. No searching needed.
The Nativity scene in the village is hidden and can barely be seen no matter how much scrolling I do. There is also no Nativity scene in the room, except perhaps in a picture frame that is almost impossible to see.
When you click on the current day, sometimes there is nothing at all to do, no game or activity.
Worse, when you go to the room, as others have said, there is...nothing new. It's the same as the first day except for a building on a shelf. There used to be new and wonderful things every day.
The upholstery choices for the furniture are largely bizarre. Who would ever pick those colors and patterns?
I so looked forward to this Advent calendar but I feel I got a lump of coal instead.
