Kia sportage 2024 gt line GPF fault…

Kia sportage 2024 gt line GPF fault showing twice in two months i found out after purchase its not an isolated issue problems with warning light engine emmisions full take it a 40 min run and horse the engine the cars just a year old and dont complain its youre driving standards that are to blame ??

Case Reference – KMUK2434446

Dear Mr Stewart

Thank you for getting in touch and for taking the time to share your experience. I am sorry to hear how disappointing this has been for you, especially as this is your second Sportage and you expected a much smoother ownership experience.

If you are experiencing a fault with your GPF, this is more likely an indication that soot has built up significantly over time than a fault with the GPF system. This warning light encourages the driver to alter their driving style to assist the GPF’s capability of soot removal. You may need to follow the guidance in your owner’s manual over the course of multiple journeys before the GPF light clears.

To meet emissions legislation most modern Euro 6d (and onward) Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine cars are equipped with a GPF (Gasoline Particulate Filter) which is designed to meet these emissions standards which all manufacturers must comply with.

Activation of the GPF system happens when certain parameters are met. Colder temperatures, persistent short journeys and low speed will not allow the exhaust to get hot enough to burn away the soot in the system, which causes the soot to build up over time.

GPF illumination is an indication to the driver that the GPF system has built up soot over a period of time. As the system is operating as expected, it is the owner’s responsibility to maintain the system and would not be considered a manufacturing defect. Detailed instruction in owner’s manual.

We are genuinely grateful for your feedback, and I want you to know that your comments will be forwarded for ongoing review. Hearing directly from customers helps us understand where improvements are needed, and your experience will be included in that process.

If there is anything else I can help you with, please get in touch via email or call us on 0333 2022 990.

Kia will not honour their warranty - avoid.

Dropped my car off for what was expected to be a warranty repair to be told Kia wouldn't honour the warranty.

This was challenged but after waiting a week for a response and the dealer and Kia UK pointing fingers at each other (during which time I have been without a car) I instructed the repair myself at a cost of over £2k...all this when the car still has 30,000 miles left on the warranty.

Appalling customer service and proves that the warranty isn't worth the paper it's written on. It's there ONLY to tie the customer in to paying for KIA-direct servicing for longer.

I bought Kia ev3 air electric

I bought a brand new Kia EV3 Air Electric and it has an obvious front door alignment defect. The doors show visible gaps and stick outwards, which is completely unacceptable on a new vehicle.

Kia’s authorised service told me this was “within acceptable tolerance.” This response is frankly unbelievable. A clearly visible body misalignment should never be considered normal or acceptable for a brand new car.

This experience has shown a serious lack of quality control and has completely undermined my confidence in Kia UK. Extremely disappointing.

Scammers

D. M. Keith Kia Doncaster on St Leger House, Bullrush Grove, Balby, Doncaster DN4 8SJ are trying to rip off.
I have booked in my Kia Optima for engine service and gearbox service, on the engine service is stated that air filter is included too, paid for the service, went outside the dealership and checked if it was replaced, the air filter was not replaced, when I have confronted the dealership, I was told that is no explanation and went to talk with the technician, never come back to fix it of apologies.
I will never go back to do anything at my car, let alone to buy another Kia.

Excellent service Kia Scarborough Craig Murly

Just bought our family car from Kia Scarborough, I have to say the service was second to none, Craig Murly looked after us and went through absolute everything with a fine tooth comb, he was very thoughtful and caring with our zero knowledge of the tech stuff.. He’s a credit to the dealership, I highly recommend A*****

Bought a second hand Kia EV

Bought a second hand Kia EV, and it had a faulty USB connection which I found was relatively common from other posts online. Went to the local dealership in the UK, and a repair was done under warranty without an issue.

And the car and app generally work pretty well, so I'm happy with the purchase.

I think a lot of the reviews in here reflect angry users more than anything.

My Kia experience has been exceptional

My Kia experience has been exceptional. It is now coming up 9 yrs since I bought my Sportage new and the dealers have been brilliant.
Only had one issue to pay for after the car had just been out of warranty by 3 months.
The bill was £450 but dealers contacted Kia and they said because I'd been a loyal customer the would cover half the cost.
I've had 3 minor issues during ownership, one window motor slow, sun roof rattle and cover on tailgate perished. All sorted under warranty. Sunroof framework renewed for updated product.
If I buy another car it will be from this dealership.

7 year warranty means nothing

Shambolic 7 year warranty that means nothing. Bought 2023 Kia from Arnold Clark and within a month had coolant alert flashing up. Turns out was a leaking battery! Kia then claim that the car is safe to drive despite the engineer saying the fluid could ignite and could be combustible. Now I am being told it's going to take over six months to replace the battery. First and last Kia I'll ever be buying absolute jokers!

0 customer service

Kia uk give a good story but customer service is shocking. They can't even diagnose a problem with there own car In 2 year and has spend 4months in the garage in the last 9month. Wouldn't touch this company again they refuse to enter into discussion with owners. Customer service refuse to escalate concerns to managers kia uk really need to consider there approach.

APPALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE.

An over-the-air update while we were away from home totally bricked the app.
How many times can customer service escalate our issue before someone helps us? (Currently three weeks and five calls.)
Useless.

I expect real answers, not empty apologies. I expect action. And I expect Kia to take responsibility for selling unsafe, unreliable vehicles.

If you are considering buying a Kia EV, PLEASE read this before you make the same mistake I did.
My experience is not “a small issue” — it is a safety hazard, a complete failure of Kia’s EV reliability, and a shocking display of incompetence from RRG Kia Bury My Car Became Dangerous on 7 August — Suddenly Entered “Turtle Mode” and Could Have Stalled Anywhere
On 7 August, my Kia e-Niro 3 suddenly triggered the turtle warning light, with severe power loss. This issue means the car can shut down randomly at any time.Imagine driving on a motorway and your EV suddenly dies. This is life-threatening. I immediately contacted Kia dealers. The earliest diagnostic appointment?
ONE MONTH LATER — 5 September.
Absolutely unacceptable for a safety-critical fault.
FIRST DIAGNOSIS (5 Sept): They Found NOTHING — Misdiagnosed the Problem — Wasted My Time
When the car finally went in: .They claimed it was the 12V battery,
• Even though we had already replaced the 12V battery ourselves,
• And had explained in detail that the issue clearly wasn’t caused by it.
Later when I went to collect the car, they casually told me:➡ Actually it’s NOT the 12V battery — but we still can’t find the issue. Their “solution”? Just keep driving it and wait for it to fail again.
I waited a month for THAT.
Next day, 6 September, the turtle light came back immediately.
SECOND DIAGNOSIS: They Finally Found Error Codes in the Main Battery — But Still Made Me Wait
When I brought it back again, the turtle light was still on and they finally saw two fault codes pointing to a faulty cell/shelf in the high-voltage battery.
This is a MAJOR EV fault. Yet they still told me the earliest they could look at it properly was 18 September. I refused to drive the car because it is dangerous, but they didn’t care.
They Attempted Random Repairs — Replacing Wires — Claiming “Road Test Passed” — ALL FAILED
They replaced an orange wire.
Then another wire. Then claimed everything was “road tested and good to go.”
On 17 Sept, they said I could collect the car.
I drove it home. By 6 PM on the SAME DAY, the turtle light came back again and the car died.
I immediately emailed a formal complaint.
THIRD, FOURTH, FIFTH… the Cycle Repeats — They STILL Can’t Fix It From mid-September to the end of September, the pattern was:
• I take the car back
• They say they found something
• They replace a wire or clear codes
• They “road test 300 miles”
• They say everything is fine
• I collect it
• The next day the car fails again
Every. Single. Time. This happened on 26 Sept, 27 Sept, 30 Sept and repeatedly afterwards.
They NEVER fixed the root cause.
FINALLY they admit the main battery is faulty — but now the battery is “on order for months”
In the last week of September, after the car completely died again, they finally admitted:
The high-voltage battery needs to be replaced.
But:
• They didn’t know how long it would take.
• They didn’t tell me anything for weeks.
• I had to call THEM multiple times.
Eventually they told me the battery “should arrive on 14 November.”
On 14 Nov, I called:
➡ “Battery still not here.”
➡ “System still shows 14th but nothing arrived.”
Today is 17 November.
Still no battery.
This afternoon, my husband went to the dealership to collect personal items from the car.
The General Manager then casually told him:
➡ Battery is now delayed ANOTHER MONTH — maybe mid-December.
➡ His OWN Kia EV also needed a new battery after only two years.
So Kia knows their EV batteries are failing.
But the customers have to suffer for months.🚗 Loan Car? They NEVER offered it until the very end.
My car has been unusable since AUGUST.
They NEVER proactively offered a courtesy car.
Only after the battery diagnosis (two months later!) did someone tell me I could “ask the front desk.”
Unbelievable.
Meanwhile I have been paying:
• Insurance
• Transportation costs
• Time wasted
• Endless trips to the dealership
All because Kia can’t diagnose or repair their own EV. Summary: My Kia e-Niro Has Been Broken for Over 3 Months — Kia Cannot Fix It — And the Battery Is Delayed for MONTHS
This entire situation is disgraceful, unsafe, and unacceptable.
Kia EVs clearly have serious reliability issues.
RRG Kia Bury’s diagnostics and communication are shockingly poor.
My car: Has been dangerous to drive
• Dies randomly
• Has a confirmed high-voltage battery fault
• Has been in and out of the garage repeatedly .Still cannot be driven since AUGUST
• And the replacement battery will take 3–4 months at best
This is beyond a negative review.

Appalling customer service

Appalling customer service - totally disinterested.

My neighbours Sportage had a very loud "Boing Boing" noise when reversing - to make matters worse the speaker that produces it is behind the front grill. It keeps waking me up or disturbing me.

Kia UK have said it's a civil matter between my neighbour and me and I should report it to the council. I can't see what this will achieve other than creating bad feeling with my neighbour - the noise cannot be changed, disabled or reduced in volume.

Kia state tis a legal requirement - so why don't other cars including other Kias emit this noise.

Thank fully the way they have dealt with this, and reading their reviews have convinced me not to consider buying a Kia

I feel that Kia should not offer 7 year…

I feel that Kia should not offer 7 year warranty if they cannot offer an efficient service !! Being told they have 17 cars waiting repair is not my problem and waiting nearly a month for a diagnostic is not acceptable! What are you meant to do if your car is completely broken down...... disappointed 😞
