I'd give zero star if it's an option.
Requested porting on Sat 9am, contacted help center with the useless live chat. they kept giving you formal answer but not having it resolved.
waited another day, live chat staff said the same thing, wait for another hour or two.
it's been two days, on monday 9am, contacted them again, they said would raise a ticket. it may take two days for the transfer. seriously???
ridiculous!!
stay away from this company!!!

Had issues from the beginning that…

Had issues from the beginning that started with the ordering of a SIM starter kit. It would only get worse when trying to activate online. When that failed, I had to call and the customer service consultant was helpful, but the porting of my number failed. I called back, the port in failed again. Called back, the same happened again. The fourth attempt, the consultant said they’d do something to initiate the port after I confirmed with the outgoing provider that all my details were the same so the port shouldn’t have failed. What this consultant did was literally nothing. I waited for more than 3 hours, then called back and was told the porting request was waiting on my authorisation (despite what the previous consultant said). I did what they asked and it failed again. This consultant was then rude and patronising. Said he’d escalate the problem. I called back again to make a complaint about the previous consultant and the abysmal service I’d received that day and I got the usual scripted apology message read to me at least three times. Totally disgusted with Kogan Mobile. I now have a SIM I need to top up again until Kogan Mobile works out what’s gone wrong and fixes it, and a $140 12 month voucher activated on a number that’s supposed to be temporary until the usually simple process of porting is complete.

I've been using kogan mobile nz for…

I've been using kogan mobile nz for about four months now and it is been extremely good for me, there are slight issues of the reception dropping off in urban areas but nothing that bad, all I do is turn off mobile wifi and turn it back on again and I'm good to go.

I brought the yearly plan of 40 gigabytes per month for about $490 dollars which is good value, "I thought" I was easily able to port my number over and had no issues with that, unlimited phone calls is very good, also unlimited MMS is a great addition; not only that, I can retrieve my missed call messages without paying any extra, unlike the other prepaid plans that are out there.

I'll most probably renew my subscription when its due, hopefully I'll get an even better discount when the time is up.

Kogan mobile is a good provider and I strongly recommend 👌

Unethical, unhelpful

If 0 stars was an option, Kogan mobile would have none. Purchased SIM card and $250 prepaid data plan early Aug. Arrived in good time, but they have not been able to transfer/port my number from Trustpower and declined to refund, despite not providing a remedy thus not delivering a product IAW the Consumer Guarantees Act. I do not recommend

Not relevant to New Zealand

I tried to order a SIM to New Zealand. It has been a month, because they're shipping them from overseas during covid. I tried to get a better idea of what's going on, and they're just adamant that it should arrive in only a few days - they're so out of touch with New Zealand that they think their pre-covid shipping times are still correct.
Their customer support is dreadful, I think they contract it out to a third world country so they can pay them 1 cent a day.
They're clearly just cashing in without wanting to expend any actually effort (like paying for a shipping depot within New Zealand, for example). I guess they're probably OK until something goes wrong.

Its OK

Its OK. Plans are good pricing, but their customer support is pretty crap, and lots of people leave because they don’t give any promotions to existing customers.

Fastest data plan I have used tho, and if you are a new customer the pricing is quite competitive

If you ever need any customer support…

If you ever need any customer support you are screwed. They don't even have a call center instead a online chat that does nothing at all. Customer service promises to get onto the issue but get ready to be bounced around for days and be so frustrated you end up porting to another company.

Very slow speeds and bad reception

Very slow speeds. Usually about 3-4mbps in city during busy hours and about 6-7 during quiet hours. In regional areas, speed is just very bad. You'd be lucky to get 3mps regionally. You constantly lose reception in regional areas. I am a loyal customer but I am done with them. Worst provider ever. Spend a little bit more and go with better ones.

This is review for Kogan Mobile NZ

This is review for Kogan Mobile NZ. I recently trialed their Go xtra large plan which I initially thought was very good deal.

The service was good to start with but the minute you hit a problem there only two ways to get issues resolved either by chat or email. You can’t speak to anyone to get the problem resolved.

I logged a problem with their customer services on March 20 and by April 5th it still was not resolved. This has been absolutely frustrating and wasted so much of my time.

I would not recommend Kogan mobile NZ until they improve their customer support significantly.

I have request Kogan to cancel my account. Stick with 2 Degrees or Skinny.

0 Star for Kogan

My Kogan mobile extra large prepay plan will expire in 2 days, and I decide not to renew the current plan, i clicked change payment method on my kogan app, and...It renewed instantly, it's $188.7. I then contacted their online customer service, who told me they can't refund me "since all Kogan Mobile plans are pre-pay and non-refundable", but they can make some arrangements, that is I can buy another smaller plan, after that, they "will raise the refund request for $188", which seems very suspicious. Anyway, I don't think I can afford another click and $188.7, therefore I decide to leave it. But I will NEVER use Kogan related stuff ever again!

I recently purchased a kogan mobile…

I recently purchased a kogan mobile plan, and found that despite me clicking and ensuring that I "cancelled my subscription", there continues to be charges on my credit card. Which when I contacted them, they kept referring me to the fact that "they cannot refund any mobile plans". I had to get my credit card company to blacklist them, that's how bad it got. Yet they still would charge me if given the option.
100% stay away and DO NOT RECOMMEND.

So I wanted to recharge

So I wanted to recharge, but I couldn't get into my account. I rang customer service, and after 10 minutes of computer talk i was greeted with difficult Indian accented lady, who uselessly wouldn't let me pay over the phone, or reset my pin to the account on the computer. After some emails and more uselessness, I decided to change telcos because they obviously didn't value me as a customer. Upon porting my number to the new telco, my details didn't match, and thus failed. I find this hard to believe because I think I would know my name, D.O.B and address, but I believe Kogan changed them to fail the port. So I rang Kogan up to confirm my details who uselessly would not let me confirm. They then proceeded to tell me I needed a statutory declaration to confirm my identity. In conclusion, I think they are scammers and do yourself a favour, keep looking for different telcos, cheers.

What a scam

This Kogan mobile service is total nonsense. I signed up for yearly plan with discounted rate at the beginning and the renewal date was coming. I stayed to be renewed and they charged me full amount even though I was getting a numerous emails and text saying that yearly plan will be cheaper etc. so I asked why that happened and their response was ->>> We would like to share that the email is part of offers that we were sharing with our existing customers who can continue using our services on discounted rate. However, we never mention in any of our email that your plan will auto-renew with any of special offer.
I don't understand what that means. They share the promotion email with their existing customers but they never mentioned my plan will be renewed with discounted rate? What does it mean really? I am not your existing customer? What a SCAM. That's all I have to say.

Absolutely woeful. Is there actually someone that will pick up the call?

I usually cant be bothered to post reviews but in this case, I'm just so peeved..

Beware of the saying "You get what you pay for". Yes, I took advantage of their $4.90 40gb promo and now I'm paying for it. Called yesterday and was on phone for over an hour before was disconnected (hung up on). Now nearing the 1 hour mark so will see what happens. All I hear is "if you need assistance, please hold and your call will be answered shortly." What is the definition of "shortly"? This is absolutely horrendous! Worst thing is, no idea where you are in the queue...and if anyone will actually answer my call?

Garbage - Watch for telemarketer calls after purchasing

Similar to other posters I have had an issue porting number. A little advice for yourself if you're having the same issue.

The online 'help' is useless and says you can fix yourself in your account. Don't believe them.

Follow the following steps.
1. Email "help @ kogan. com" (without spaces, review wouldn't allow it) immediately outlining the issue. DO NOT EXPECT ANY HELP.
2. For laughs try ringing the 1300 number a couple of times.
3. Keep emailing so you have a trail over 2 weeks showing you have given every reasonable effort to resolve the situation.
4. Ask for a refund.
5. If necessary take to the TIO and/or ASCC.

After spending northwards of 10 hrs on hold to the useless 1300 number and 14 emails over 3 weeks, Kogan has agreed to refund the purchase (sometime in the next 10 business days, this may or may not happen).

In addition all of a sudden my wife and I have been up to a bunch of telemarketer calls, myself for the first time in years (outside of the last time I complained about Kogan). The last time I got this many telemarketer calls was, the last time I complained about kogan.com. I'm almost starting to suspect a disgruntled employee somewhere is filling out 'competitions' with your details if you complain about their service or your details are sold. Please note, I can't substantiate this however this is the second time I've had issue with Kogan and the second time I've got a bunch of telemarketers calls while being on the do not call register.

The first time I had a massive issue with this company I gave them the benefit of the doubt assuming that it was a one off after being a member for northwards of 7 years. I won't be dealing with them again unless I am exceptionally desperate for a product I simply can't get elsewhere.

You've been warned you're considered a sucker if you do business with Kogan or Kogan mobile, not a customer. You will be treated as such.

Goodluck.

PS I will update if I ever get the refund.

Pre-paid mobile service auto-renewed…

Pre-paid mobile service auto-renewed (which is literally just a month-to-month plan) and charged me $70 for a service I can't use. Terrible service. Have used Kogan many times in the past and thought the bad service comments were overblown, but I'll never buy anything from them again. Not worth it.
