Sitting on your lazy boy can cause your warranty to be void
A little over six months ago we spent over $5000 for a dual reclining leather sofa from La-Z-Boy. The finish on the leather is degrading per La-Z-Boy customer service. I was told it was our body oil that was damaging the leather. How do you sit on a sofa without your body touching it?! We did not follow the care of the leather we needed to wash the leather with distilled water, ivory soap work to in a lather and wiped off with a white cotton cloth note 3 times a week to avoid this damage. Who washes their sofa three times a week? I don’t wanna be a slave to a piece of furniture do you?
Lay Z Boy quality not!
Lay Z Boy quality? um no, not so much...
Within 1 year of owning our sofa the imitation leather delaminated to the point where it looks like it is 40 plus years old. This is in a household of two 50+ adults. After phoning the customer care line we were told we "should have bought the extended warranty"as if that would have stopped the delamination. The customer care representative was rude and told us we would have to pay to have someone come out and they wouldn't do anything even if they did. Therefore why buy Lay Z Boy? I really don't know, but never again. I wish I could upload the pictures.

La Z Boy Garbage
My Personal Experience with La-Z-Boy: A Lesson in Disappointment
Once upon a time, La-Z-Boy was a household name synonymous with high-quality furniture and unmatched comfort. My family, like many others, trusted the brand implicitly. When it came time to furnish my living room with a recliner, La-Z-Boy was my first and only choice. I expected the same reliability and quality my parents experienced decades ago when they purchased their La-Z-Boy furniture. Instead, what I got was an ongoing nightmare of poor craftsmanship, abysmal customer service, sluggish repair processes, and a company seemingly uninterested in accountability.
A Disastrous Product
The disappointment began almost immediately after purchasing a high-end recliner from La-Z-Boy. At first, the chair seemed fine—comfortable and stylish, as advertised. However, within a few months, it became clear that the quality was far below expectations. The cushions began sagging noticeably, and the reclining mechanism, which was supposed to be the hallmark feature, started making grinding and squeaking noises. The back felt loose and wobbly, as though it might break off at any moment. In fact, it did eventually break…
What shocked me the most was how quickly the recliner began making noises. Despite being marketed as durable, the springs made an awful noise and the recliner as a whole was just terribly noisy after just a few months of light use. Friends and family who visited my home even commented on how “used” the chair seemed, despite it being practically new. It was embarrassing and infuriating, especially given the premium price I had paid.
By the six-month mark, the recliner was no longer comfortable to use. The padding and springs in the seat and backrest had broken down so much that sitting for any length of time left me with a sore back. The structural integrity of the chair was so poor that I genuinely wondered if it would hold up another year. The chair leaned back so far, I would end up looking at the ceiling, La-Z-Boy amazingly assured me this was normal not realizing I purchased the exact same chair 5 years prior. When comparing them side by side, the defect was obvious.
Terrible Customer Service
When I first noticed the issues, I reached out to La-Z-Boy customer service, hoping to resolve the problems quickly. What followed was one of the most frustrating experiences of my life. After waiting on hold for over an hour, I was finally connected to a representative who seemed completely uninterested in helping me. Their responses were curt, dismissive, and, frankly, condescending.
I explained the issues with the recliner, including the sagging cushions, noisy mechanism, and unusual orientation. The representative assured me that they would “file a claim” and that someone would get back to me. Weeks passed, and I heard nothing. I called back, only to be told that my case was still “under review.” After repeated follow-ups, they finally agreed to send a technician to assess the chair.
Sluggish and Unreliable Service Technicians
When the technician visit was scheduled, I thought I was finally making progress. Unfortunately, the service technician arrived over an hour late with no communication or apology. Once they inspected the chair, their conclusion was dismissive: “Normal wear and tear,” they said, despite the fact that the chair was only a year old.
They also informed me that parts needed to be ordered for the repair, which would take “a few weeks.” A few weeks turned into months, during which I repeatedly called to check on the status, only to be told that the parts were “on backorder.” When the parts finally arrived, the technician scheduled another visit—only to not show up. I had to reschedule yet again, costing me more time and frustration.
When the technician eventually did complete the repair, it was clear they were undertrained or simply uninterested in doing the job properly. The mechanism was still noisy, and the cushion replacement barely improved the sagging issue.
Warranty: An Empty Promise
Part of the reason I initially felt confident in my purchase was La-Z-Boy’s advertised warranty. However, the warranty process turned out to be a complete sham. Every issue I raised was met with resistance and excuses. “That’s not covered,” they said, or “That’s considered normal wear.” It felt as though they were doing everything possible to avoid honoring their commitments.
Even the few issues they did agree to address took an absurd amount of time to resolve. Replacement parts were delayed for months, and the overall lack of communication left me feeling abandoned as a customer.

We bought 3 recliners which included one for our father. The delivery men blocked the retirement home driveway and were threatening to us when we asked them to move the truck. Then when our two recliners were delivered there was no email or call they showed at up at 8am and my wife is in chemotherapy. Again just wanted to unload and leave. No masks and no Service. Go local - they appreciate your business more and can be held accountable instead of a call centre from nowhere. Very unhappy.
I spent over $5000 on a lazy boy…
I spent over $5000 on a lazy boy reclining love seat at thr Lazyboy in Centennial Colorado.95% of the fabric choices are special orders and that is where lazyboy really has a chance to screw their customer.
We ordered one in a green with gold flecks fabric. When it arrived and we were able to look at it in the light after it was unpacked and the delivery driver had left we saw that it was blue with cream colored flecks. This did not go with any of our other furniture.
We immediately called the lazy boy store. The sales person that answered had one question- did you refuse delivery? I said no we hadn’t seen it in the light by then. Her response was “too bad, you are now its proud owner!”
We were hoping to be able to exchange it for a leather version which would have been $1000 more(another lazyboy con is though a price tag may be on a leather sofa, chair, etc. that is not the price for it in leather, it is for the cheapest fabric.
The next day I spoke with the sales person we dealt with originally. She was going to call me back in a couple of hours after speaking with the “manager”. Two days later when I finally gave up and called her she said sorry he won’t agree to anything.
I filed a BBB complaint. 3 weeks later BBB said they were closing it since Lazyboy never replied
I would recommend to anyone considering lazy boy furniture to shop elsewhere, whoever you deal with other than them has to be more customer satisfaction oriented.
If you must shop at Lazyboy read the contract thoroughly. The terms and conditions for returns, exchanges and refunds are 180 degrees different than what their website lists.
Poor back up service
Poor back up service - purchased a Lay Z Boy 2 seat settee 2 years ago - a dark stain appeared on the back. Lay Z Boy UK won't deal directly - any problems have to go through the dealer the item was purchased from, who were less than helpful! Will never buy Lay Z Boy furniture again
Terrible quality
Terrible quality, terrible customer service, terrible protection plan. Will never buy from La-z-boy again.
I bought a sofa 4 years ago & am dumping it.
I bought a sofa 4 years ago & here are my problems:
1. The leather facing is fine. However, the vinyl on the sides of the leather back cushions have craed & solit in about 10 places.
2. The padding in the lumbar area of the seats have virtually collapsed. While the seats have motorized lumbar adjustments, that only causes an uncomfortable bump in my lower back w/o the cushioning of padding.
Other high end furniture makers design their products to have easy access to seating backs, Lazyboy does not. It would cost $200 per seat back to have a pro come in, open the leather to fabric seams, re-stuff with filling & stitch it back together. A
So after only 4 years I'm dumping this way over priced, poorly designed with inferior covering material sofa & getting one from one of the top 5 rated sofa makers for 60% of what I wasted on Lazyboy sofa.
P.S. I wrote this safe comment on Lazyboy website. They said they would send me an email confirmation before they posted it on their website. Of course they never sent the confirmation. I'm sure it was intentional as they had to intention of posting truthful negative comments on their website.

Wife bought 5k worth of lazy boy chair and couch in leather.
I have had 10 LB chairs in my life all 100% phenomenal chairs.
These current chairs and couch are garbage not made well at all.
Guess it’s no surprise. All about the money and can careless about a good product. Bound to happen to lazyboy too!🤬
Don't waste your time
Not what they used to be at all. Ordered 2 Lennon leather power rocking chairs on 4/28/24 which took 3 months to get but or delayed delivery until 8/14 after we got back from a cruise. The chairs were looked horrible - wrinkled leather on sides, loose in leg lift, stuffing not even leg lift and backs and stitching was off by over an inch on once of the backs. Noted this to the delivery people who took picture and said they would schedule a tech who came out the next week. He noted that they need to go back to the shop for "repair". they picked them up two weeks later and that was the last we seen of them until 10/16. This was after a couple of visits and numerous phone calls to the store. Never got a call from anyone during this time. Not much change to the chairs, still not what expected for $5700. Went back to the store on on 10/24 after we were told they would deliver them and order necessary parts to make them wright. There were still sitting there and no parts were ordered.
We demanded our money back but gave us the run around again and told us we needed to go thru National Care service. After getting the run around there for 3 weeks with promises to investigate with store and no call backs and speaking with 4 different people we contacted Chase credit and file a fraudulent claim. We are in the process of getting our money back. We will NEVER do business with store or any Lazy Boy store. Their products are very poor (made in China now) and service response sucks! The sales people talk a good story but zero results. Buy somewhere else.

I would leave no stars if that was an option. 5k on a sectional that has never been in working order. We have had it fixed once and had to pay the people for pick up and delivery. Now the labor warranty is up. The metal in the recliners bends like it was made Ina jello factory. I've literally never seen such horribly made furniture. I only bought it after buying 2 other brands, because my parent had a set that was close to 20 years old and was in great condition. Never again. And I pray people read reviews before wasting their money..
Selling bonded leather as real leather.
My leather surround sofa I paid $6500.00 the color started to come off only to realize it was bonded leather. Do not buy from them. Salesman sold it to me as real leather. They are scam artists.
Inferior chair from what I had seen and approved in the store.
I needed a chair that I could be comfortable in as I have nerve neuropathy in both legs. I tried several chairs in the store and picked one in the store that I felt would work. I asked if they had one like it with blue fabric and they said they did in warehouse. I decided ok. When it was delivered it was not the same in looks or comfort. No chair bottom padding, with some back padding plus the chair was much smaller. When I tried it, it did not feel comfortable at al and my legs hung out from the chair. I asked to take it back and either get my money back or get the one in the store. The sales person in that store was going to be gone the next day so he asked me to call his boss, Pat, to see if I could bring it back and exchange. This man was so rude he started yelling and screaming and said I could not bring the chair back. He was so rude and obnoxious. Not like a manager I ever saw. I left that store and decided to take the loss, Unfortunately, I paid for it in full earlier and could not exchange. It was so awful there I would never shop there again and I have reported it to BBB which I don't know if they even talked with them. I have not heard anything and they have won out by giving me an inferior chair which I hate. They said if they didn't approve an exchange I could not get my money back anyway but they would give me a credit. After the exchange with Pat, I didn't want to ever deal there again.
After 3 months the leather started…
After 3 months the leather started flaking off the headrest. Tried to get it covered they warranty and was told that the warranty doesn't cover premature wear. I escalated my commitment up to the next level of management to get the same response. Worse experience with furniture I have ever had. I will not but La Z boy again , they refuse to stand behind those own product.
RUN AWAY!!! TERRIBLE COMPANY!!!
I purchased a recliner several years ago, and was initially very pleased. I paid for the warranty and fabric/leather protection. About a year into the purchase, the head rest started to fade and completely lose its color. This was soon followed by the rest of the arm rests and seating area. I contacted Lazy-boy and was told the warranty did not cover the leather and essentially SOL. I protested, appealed and got no where.
Curiously I started reading reviews and found I was not the only victim of the company’s poor quality and business practices. When I contacted the company again, they completely blocked all means to contact them, including unanswered mail.
Run away from Lazy-Boy. They are terrible.
Remote control for recliner
I called lazy boy to purchase a new remote for my reclining chair. The current remote no longer works even after putting in new batteries. I was sent an email with a link to a form that I need to complete. I’m 72 years old and I can’t remember when I bought the chair and then I watched a video of how to get to the ACK number they need. I would have to flip the chair on its side to get to that number. There is no way I could do that so I called them back again and again was told that they would send me an email with a link blah blah blah. So then I explain my issue and they offered to put me straight through to the service dept but they were asking the same questions that were on the email. I can’t deal with this company anymore. I AM DONE!!!!
My husband and I (in our 70's) …
My husband and I (in our 70's) purchased a power recliner love seat with cup holder in the center. We purchased the protection plan after being told defects would be covered within the 5 years. Since that time, I have put in two requests for squeaking and a broken part whenever you recline. Most recently, I put in another request because when I sit on the seat, my butt hits the wooden framing. I was denied on all 3 requests saying none of them were covered. My advice...RUN, fast away from this company. RUN RUN RUN
Very bad quality and customer support…
Very bad quality and customer support on a nearly 4k recliner i bought due to back and knee pain i have. It was a health purchase. I was told to not use its features to avoid 'breaking it'. lzbdecor (company that sells lazyboys in canada) also repeatedly told me that these breakges are "normal" and i should be ok with getting it fixed every 2-3 months because they get these requests on their recliners all the time. Buyer beware!
I bought the decked out Finley leather recliner wiht swivel base from them on Sept 18, 2023 for $3,841.
First break down was 1 month after purchase on Nov 20th (a month after) the chair broke where lifting the leg rest would make it lean forward. They took nearly a month to come to fix it where i couldn't use this chair.
Then the same issue happened on Jan 16 2024, and they came to fix it on Feb 14 (another month of wait with broken stuff). This time the technician that came to tell me that i shouldn't lean it back all the way (defective product).
I started using it without leaning it back fully and lo and behold, it broke same way again on Oct 1 2024, now they are saying i'm outside of 1 year warranty and they can't fix it.
Another issue with them is the support people they have are not professional at all and very dismissive and they see this as a regular thing that happens. I was explained by Stan who didn't want to "go back and forth on this" that they hear this from a lot of people that purchases their lazyboys and that these breakages are normal.
Very unhappy with lzbdecor (company that sells lazyboy chairs) and especially their support for customers who had to spend a small fortune for physical health.
I purchased a $7000.00 Lazy-Boy Chase…
I purchased a $7000.00 Lazy-Boy Chase 7-piece powered leather sofa with cup holder in 2017 from a Lazy-Boy store in Phoenix AZ. In addition, I purchased a matching recliner for $1500 in 2019. The sofa leather is peeling at the seam between the sections. This is supposed to be Ginuwine leather. The cushion started to sag with-in two years. We have no kids it just my wife and me. To make thing worse, the sofa is not peeling on the area being used, it between the sectional on area that not being touched. This should not be happening on a sofa of this value that supposed to be ginuwine leather. I would not waste this type on money on a lazy-boy furniture again.
