Hopefully your door has no problems

I bought a Larson storm door with a retractable screen. The tensioner failed after approximately a year and a half. I called Larson customer service and they sent me a new tensioner. For as much as I paid for this door, there should be a technician sent to install the new tensioner. I, along with my brother tried unable to install it because when you put the tensioner in it unravels. I am done trying. I will never buy a larson door again.

Absolutely horrible door construction

Absolutely horrible door construction, customer service was nice, spoke with a Karen who was very nice to begin with. I don’t see her being an issue, what I see is the entire company she works for lacks common sense. Who sells storm doors that the window frame will break apart? If these things are rated for STORMS there is no reason why I should have to deal with a broken window frame. Door isn’t even 2 months old. Get this, the door before this one, I had for 25 years, 1 of those years it had no glass in it because it shattered. Well I figured I’d replace it with a Larson storm door. Little did I know they make their plastic window frames out of the cheapest flimsy plastic on the face of the earth that breaks when no one is around and because you can’t fully prove how it broke they won’t cover it under warranty. Didn’t even get 3 months out of this POS door. Beware and don’t do business with them.

Don't bother buying their best door unless you want to keep fixing it

I purchased the best door larson makes and the $150 fancy closer breaks within 2yrs. That amount is a almost half the cost of one of their standard doors with external closers that last for years. This is one of the times that paying more defintely get you less. But , I guess it is the way that manufacturers these days just keep on making money off the original purchase. I would have expected a longer warranty on such an expensive part to be than 1 year.

Not a cheap door, but cheap parts. Poor Service as well.

I had one of Larson's more expensive doors installed in 2021. I have since had to replace the hidden closer of the door 3 times. A five year old door should not require the closer to be replaced that often. The quality of that part is clearly consistently very poor. They must be aware because the parts always fail right after any warranty would apply. The support does nothing to help other than telling you "tough luck, here is a link to buy a new closer." After the most recent repair, I will be replacing it with another manufacturer in the future.

Closing mechanisms are hot garbage

Closing mechanisms are hot garbage. Doors were listed as "premium" so we decided to spend the extra money and get something nice. Within 18 months, the the door began slamming shut. Customer service charged me over $130 for the replacement closer...and calmly told me that it would ship in 10-14 days. Seriously, what is it...1980? Apparently a "lifetime warranty" only covers the structure of the door. What a bad purchase. Next time I am buying an Andersen!

Run don't walk away from these doors! JUNK!

Door was installed in June '25. In October the screen roller mechanism broke with small pieces of metal flying out. Took close to a month to get a replacement. The lock mechanism doesn't line up correctly to hold the glass up. The kick panel came unglued. You will waste half your life sending them pictures and arguing. Their so called "warranty" is basically trash. If you buy make sure you have a cheap contractor to repair your new door because you'll need him! I now have a new door that is basically trash. I can get a new panel for $76 tho. Plus repair labor.

Received door with a missing setscrew and Larson was not very concerned about getting me a replacement

Received door with a missing setscrew for the handle. Ordered a replacement after waiting 15 min on the phone. Was told it would not ship for 2 weeks. 3 weeks later still no setscrew. Contacted them again and a very un-concerned "Marisa" was no help. Said it was backordered. I asked if the handle itself could be sent. She said "we only replace the part that's missing." Oh and the expected delivery date is now another 5 weeks - for a total of about 2 months.

My Larson storm door is over 15 years…

My Larson storm door is over 15 years old. The sweeps for the bottom kick plate had worn out and I ordered what I thought was the correct replacement sweep on their website. Unfortunately, when I received them, it turned out that they they were not the correct sweeps. I called the company's customer service department and was instructed to send a photo of my existing sweep. I sent them a photo of the profile of my existing sweeps. Several weeks went by and I never heard from them. I assumed that I would never get a response from them. Much to my surprise, a month later, I am advised by email that my original sweep is no longer available and I am being issued a refund.

Don't Buy This Door!

We purchased a Larson full view storm door in March. We had a carpenter install it. The door comes with two strips that are supposed to hold the glass or screen in place. The carpenter could not figure out how to install it using the directions and using YouTube, so we ordered another set of strips, thinking that something may have been wrong with the first ones. These did not work either. We brought it to Lowes' attention. By the way, Lowes doesn't install the Larson doors because of installation issues. They suggested we contact Larson. We stayed on the phone with Larson for at least an hour and all we got was another set of strips that STILL do not work. Unacceptable! We paid two carpenters, three different times to address this issue.

We bought a retractable screen door

We bought a retractable screen door, screen came off. I ordered a replacement for the retractable screen. When it arrived the retractable screen was too tall. I called Larson and got a very rude customer service person. She would not give me an RMA without pictures showing it was too tall. Well, my handyman who ahead installed the door when we got it, then came back to install the retractable screen, had already packaged it to be sent back. I explained that and she said she couldn’t help me without pictures. Seriously do they think their customers lie!!!! I will never buy another Larson product. I also intend to give Home Depot, where we bought the screen from, how POOR their customer service is. I would give them a 0 if I could.

Done with Larson

Installed Larson Signature Series door over the weekend and sorely disappointed with the plastic trim caps that cover the screws along the rails. Came all twisted in carton and impossible to straighten out. Poor design does not allow for thumb pressure snap in either as shown in installation manual. Called Larson and robotic prompt states that wait time is 17 minutes. Waited and time kept going up so left the robotic voice prompt a callback number twice. No calls back. Tried to chat but would not resend caps without receipt which I no longer had. Not asking for an expensive item here. Just plastic cap replacements that are straight. Will switch to Andersen going forward. Larson jumped the shark after years of making great products with great customer service. Sad.

Run away fro Larson

Installed a Larson 50 full view storm door. The glass is interchangeable with a provided screen. They only include retainers for the left and right side of the insert. Inturn the window rattles at the top and bottom when I close it. Seems to be a known issue the customer service line had the ready answer. I had to purchase yet another insert retainer for $36. I would not have purchased a Larson and I known this. I’m pleased for them they saved $3 at the factory by not including the retainers and sticking it to me when I had to purchase them separately.

Hidden closure and retractable screen

Got the hidden closure and retractable screen. Installed it December of 23. After about 4 months the door started to slam shut. Took out the closure looked at it, looked fine put it back in worked good for about 4 or 5 days and door slammed shut again. Did all this a few times finally just unhooked the closure. The screen I have retention 4 times now and a good wind will blow the screen out of the track. Door looks nice but regret it.

Not so Easy to Hang Storm Door

Purchased a high view storm door with an extra large pet door. The quality of the door and parts were fine. But they actually brag on this door by calling it “Easyhang” and show on the box all you need is a power drill, a flat blade and phillips screw driver, and a pair of pliers. But Imho this was quite a process with very vague directions and they gloss right over where to drill for the hinges, also the handle required a 9/16ths drill bit- which wouldn’t even fit a regular drill, and forgot to mention you’d need a hammer/chisel to install the striker plate.
So sure it’s a great door but I’ve installed half a dozen stormdoors in my time and this one took two guys 4 hours so it’s far from an Easyhang! HARDHANG!

Dissapointing Custer Service & Quality

We bought two Larson Screen Platinum retractable doors and had them installed by a contractor on 8/21. The doors were beautiful, and we were enjoying the cross-breeze between the front and back doors. A couple of weeks later, when I was closing the back door screen for the night, the entire mechanism broke, and the screen and metal frame pieces came crashing down. I was hit in the face by the corner eye, and luckily it missed my eyeball. I had a terrible black-eye for a few days.

I called Larson, and Megan (SP?) was very helpful and apologetic and sent the new parts. I was a bit disappointed that they did not send a contractor for free to install. She stated that the doors were made to be self-installed by the homeowners.

Last night, my spouse was closing the front door screen, and the same thing happened. Luckily, it did not hit her face, just the top of her head.

When I called Larson this morning, Karen, who answered the phone, was very condescending and combative. I explained that I just called in for the same issue with the back door, and I would need the same parts. She kept insisting that she never heard of such a thing happening to the doors, like I was making it up. I sent her all the pictures she requested, and she kept being combative. I finally handed my spouse the phone to talk to her since she seemed not to want to help me.

We hope she ordered the correct parts for us since she would not listen to me or look up the last order, and just order the same parts.

If this happens again, I will be contacting Lowe's to take the doors back and the BBB to file a formal complaint. These doors are not inexpensive, and Larson obviously does not stand by their products.

I bought 2 Larson screen retractable…

I bought 2 Larson screen retractable doors and hired a contractor. One worked fine. The screen on the other door didn't stay up. Larson sent a video to fix which didn't work. They sent a new screen which didn't work. Now they want to send new glass. The problem is the door was defective from the start and my contractor keeps coming back and costing me money. Larson will send parts all day but not make good on the labor.
