Lichnos Beach Hotel & Suites - A New Destination for Sophisticated Travelling In Greece
Still catching up on reviews from the various great places I managed to find during my traveling sabbatical/vacation last year. I definitely wanted to make sure to include a review from my stop in Greece. Following up on a tip from a friend, I did a bit of research on the Lichnos Beach Hotel. A quick trip to their website and some directions from my friend helped me finalize my plans. I was told the easiest (and cheapest in terms of airfare) way there from London was a quick flight from Gatwick to Corfu, then a quick and scenic 90 minute ferry ride out to Igoumenitsa.
As for the hotel itself - I need to remember to thank my friend again for the recommendation - great location tucked away just before you get to Parga when driving from Igoumenitsa. Apparently, according to the really friendly front desk staff, the hotel had just gone through a recent remodel. My traveling partner and I managed to score a great room with an awesome balcony and an even more awesome view of the beach from that balcony!
All in all, it was a wonderful trip and a wonderful place. I’m generally not a beach vacation kind of guy but this cool, hidden gem of a hotel kind of took all the bad parts of previous beach vacations away. To be fair, my only beach vacations had previously been really overly touristy Mexican resort visits – Cancun, Cabo, etc… Imagine those places but with cleaner water, better food, take out the rowdy drunkard college kids, and a cool almost private-like beach (complete with food and drink service right on the sand!) and you’ll start to get the right picture.
Anyhow, a really great week out in Greece and an unexpectedly nice and relaxing beach vacation in Lichnos Bay. Highly recommended and a big thanks to the fun and friendly staff at the Lichnos Beach Hotel for making our trip so memorable!
Room Tip: Splurge and go of the rooms with a balcony. Totally worth it!! (I try to be a budget traveler but in this case, I say go for it if you can. I'm marking 4 out of 5 for the value side only 'cause I think it's worth it to spend a bit more here. That said, still found everything a great value...including the really nice outdoor restaurant.)
