I cannot recommend

Unfortunately my experience with Viorel Badea of Light Shutters has not been as positive as the experience of the people who have reviewed his business on Google. I chose Light Shutters as it had been recommended to me, I had been provided with a very competitive quote and a fast timescale for the job to be carried out (4 weeks as it was Summer. I had been told it would normally take 3 weeks). At my freeholder's request I asked for a copy of the business' Public Liability Insurance; Viorel Badea had initially been reluctant to provide this, but eventually he did. After about 5 weeks from the date of the deposit's payment he told me that he wanted to take all windows' measurements again. I thought it would be a good idea to avoid unnecessary problems down the line. After about 6 weeks he arrived with the material to install the shutters. For some reason he decided to carry out the job himself rather than letting the fitters doing it, this without letting me know in advance. This made the Public Liability Insurance that he had provided invalid as it was in the name of one of his fitters. To make things worse all material that he had brought with him was wrong (all the measurements that he took - twice - were wrong) which means that we had to arrange for a further appointment for the job to be carried out. On his 4th visit he eventually managed to install the shutters in one of the 3 planned rooms and he told me that he "was making practice with me". Again the material for the other 2 rooms was wrong and/or damaged. On his 5th visit he installed the remaining shutters. However, several of the hinges had screws missing, only random magnets had been put in place, the majority of the screws' caps were missing, and worst of all the fitting had been carried out so badly that the shutters are not aligned with the walls and there are gaps (in places quite large) between the shutters' frames and the surrounding walls. He put this down to my walls not been straight and as at first I believed it was true, I did some searching on the internet and suggested a solution for this. I was then going to allow him a 6th visit in the hope that after all the time that he had been offered to complete a job that he said would be done in half a day, I would finally see the end of it. However, after a misunderstanding over the date for next appointment I decided that it would be best to get somebody else to finish the job as at that point I had lost any hope that one more appointment would be enough for him to finish the job. I asked him to send me all missing material so that I could settle the final payment. Viorel Badea started to send me unprofessional messages and insisted that he wanted to come back to my home despite I had explained to him that this would no longer be necessary and the reasoning behind my decision. After several more attempts from his part to come to my house "to explain" and gaps of sometimes 1 week other times 2 or 3 weeks with his messages, he eventually brought over the material that I needed to finish the job. This consisted of random lengths of trims of two different types, some screw caps and a couple of magnets. I decided to settle the payment anyway just not to have to deal with him again, although I knew that the material that he had brought was not sufficient to finish the job. Throughout the process he behaved in a dishonest and unprofessional manner and I am left with poorly installed shutters and not the correct material to finish the job. I gave 2 stars rather than 1 as he applied a little discount on the initial quoted price in the final invoice.
