shittiest airline I ever encountered

shittiest airline I ever encountered. I booked round-trip connected tickets + there was one non-connected round-trip in between. They delayed flight by 1 hour 35 minutes so I saw that I won't manage to get to my next non-connected flight and didn't fly that day.

Because of this I had to book next day flight (much more expensive rather than buying weeks befrore) + they canceled my return tickets - because I didn't fly the destination in the first place and they don't count new booking a reason not to cancel.

So now I'm basically spending 200$ for nothing, 2 days of vacation ruined and I have no tickets to return from vacation. And they say - we don't owe you anything since we don't care if you miss next flight that is not operated by us.

"Thanks" Polish Airlines, hope you go bankrupt someday with this shit.

Avoid at all costs unless you want to suffer

I wish I could give them zero stars. I really should have read the reviews before booking. Please, never even think about flying with this awful airline. All the negative reviews are true — they completely ruined our vacation.

On our outbound trip, we missed our connection because the buses to the gate arrived so late and the passport control lines were unbelievably long. Even though we begged other passengers to let us cut ahead and literally ran to the gate, the door closed just as we got there. Instead of letting us on (even though unloading our bags would have taken more time), they refused and only offered us tickets two days later. According to them we “could have made it on time” — as if it was our fault. They expected us to abandon our holiday in another country and spend two days in Warsaw at our own expense, while acting like giving us those tickets was some kind of favor.

I’ll never forget the supervisor — a woman with glasses — who openly treated us with racism. When I pointed out that, as a Star Alliance member, they could easily rebook us with another airline, her exact words were: ‘I could, but I don’t want to and I won’t.’

Because of this, we had to purchase two brand-new tickets on another airline just to get to our holiday destination, losing the first 24 hours of our trip stuck in airports.

Then on the return journey, it got even worse: at the airport, we discovered that my wife’s ticket had been canceled with the excuse that she had “no show” — even though she was right there with me! We never even received a notification. And since LOT doesn’t have representatives in many of the countries they fly to, I had to call Poland directly. Their “solution”? They told me they actually should have canceled my ticket, too.

Of course, I couldn’t leave my wife stranded alone in a foreign airport without a ticket, so I didn’t board either. We had to spend a huge amount of money again buying last-minute flights on other airlines, taking two separate flights to get home, and wasting another 24 hours in airports.

No compensation, no accountability, and treated like animals at every step. This airline is beyond disgraceful.

Missing and damaged Luggage ruined what was meant to be a well needed family holiday

I didn't even want to give a 1 star. Flying with LOT POLISH AIRLINE is one of my worst experience. I flew from Heathrow to Cyprus via LOT stopping at WARSAW 24/07/2025. Once we got to Cyprus we didn't recieve any of our 8 suitcases. After rushing us from Warshaw to board the plane after their own delay, they forgot to load the suitcases. There were many families at Cyprus who travelled on the same airline that day that experienced the same thing. We received back 7 out of 8 luggages the next day. One of the 7 suitcases was cracked with a hole and was no longer usable. I immediately reported the other missing luggage which subsequently was my suitcase with all my clothing, medication and essential items, as well as the damaged suitcase which was my daughters. We hadn't been on a holiday for a few years and had to save for a period of a year for our 10 day holiday. The only clothing I had was the clothes I wore to the airport and I had to borrow a pair of shorts from my son. I broke out in skin irritation because I didn't have any of my body care. There was a total lack of communication from LOT about my missing suitcase. The only time I received any form of communication is where I had to call them which rang up my phone bill. I find their system extremely outdated and not straightforward. Whilst on holiday in a foreign country they requested that I print a form from their website complete it listing items in my suitcase then scan it back to them. I asked them to send me a mobile friendly form but they said they didn't have any. There was a complete lack of information sharing where messages weren't being passed along. On the 3rd day I was told by one advisor my luggage had been found and would be on a flight out to me, only to be told the next day by someone else my luggage hadn't been found. I had to stay stay in my hotel room as I didn't have any clothing and only received my suitcase back on the 7th day of our 10 day holiday. My suitcase was returned to me with the zipper damaged which made it another suitcase that was unusable and would need replacing. The cheapest suitcases we found was €84 euro each. I have asked LOT airlines for compensation for ruining our family holiday and for the 2 suitcases we had to purchase. I have also asked plenty of times for my case to be escalated to a senior management to no avail. The only response I have recieved is that they are willing to give me 50 for one suitcase and 30 for the other. I have asked again, I'm not sure how many times for the case to be escalated but I have yet to get a response. LOT POLISH AIRLINE ruined my well needed family holiday and are attempting to get away with it!

Even one star is too much...

Even one star is too much...
The worst airline company in Europe. When I booked my ticket with Turkish Airlines, I had a layover in Poland and for that leg of the journey, I flew with LOT Airlines. They damaged all three of my suitcases, and when I submitted a claim through their website, they refused to compensate me, claiming I hadn’t reported the damage upon arrival at the airport. But it was impossible to file a report at the airport due to the late arrival time, and besides, they have a dedicated channel for damage claims on their website. It was my first time flying with them and I doubt there will be a second.

Worse that Wizzair, if that is even possible

Because on the return journey, LO 282 was late and, despite running, as a 68 years old woman, with reduced mobility, my mother missed the connecting flight LO 657 (alongside with ten other passengers), from Warsaw to her final destination Oradea, for no fault of her own, but LOT's.
She was not offered any overnight accommodation, and I needed to procure it for her remotely, on my own money, from a nearby hotel, close to the airport. LOT refused to reimburse the cost of the hotel.
Taking into account this bad experience, I cancelled another reservation she had for September and LOT only refunded less than half of the cost of that second return trip.

Worst airline I’ve ever flown.

Worst airline I’ve ever flown.
First they delay the flight an hour, then once we board they say “sorry we need to change our crew, it will be another hour wait.” THEN after 40 minutes they tell us the flight is cancelled everyone get off the plane. It’s 12am - we have two sleeping kids. When we get into the airport there’s not a single staff member from LOT in sight, an entire flight waiting to understand what to do at in Warsaw.
We are told the next flight will be at 7am and good luck. Now someone came and passed out blankets - great, except only a few adults got them before running out as my two young children have nothing. Never flying with them again.
Keep in mind even if we got a hotel, no one can tell us what to do with our luggage which is still MIA

Bagage late twice !

Very bad service. I went to Lebanon, my bagage arrived 3 days later. Now I’m back to France, and my bagage is lost. Why offer a flight with laye over if you cannot take care of the bagage transit correctly ?

Seat selection changed at boarding

We checked in as soon as it opened and selected row 3 seats. However, at the moment of boarding our seats were reassigned without explanation. We were still seated together, but no longer in the row we had chosen, which caused a delay as the boarding queue was held up.

Rows 1–2 were blocked from the start, and it appears these were reserved for business class. Row 3 was shown as available and selectable at check-in, so this reassignment feels misleading. If certain seats are not actually available, they should not be offered to passengers.

While EU Regulation 261/2004 mainly covers delays, cancellations, and denied boarding, it also emphasizes transparency and fair treatment of passengers. Offering seat selection that is later disregarded — especially to favor higher-paying passengers — undermines trust in the booking process. LOT should either respect selected seats or clearly indicate when seat selection is not guaranteed.

Rows 1–2 were blocked from the start, which was clear. However, row 3 was shown as available and selectable at check-in. If these seats cannot be guaranteed, they should not appear as options. This creates confusion and undermines confidence in the booking process.

While EU Regulation 261/2004 mainly covers delays, cancellations, and denied boarding, it also emphasizes transparency and fair treatment of passengers. Offering seat selection that is later disregarded — and only informing passengers at the gate — does not align with this principle. LOT should either ensure selected seats are respected or clearly indicate that seat selection is not guaranteed.

Flew with LOT and was really…

Flew with LOT and was really disappointed. The ticket prices are sky-high, but the service doesn’t match at all. For such money, you expect comfort and attention, but it felt very basic and not worth the price. Definitely not good value.

Theft from Luggage on LOT Polish Airlines

Title: Terrible Experience – Theft from Luggage on LOT Polish Airlines

On July 27, 2024, we traveled from Istanbul to Toronto with a connection in Warsaw on LOT Polish Airlines. The Warsaw flight was delayed three hours.

When we arrived in Toronto, we collected our luggage and didn’t notice anything wrong until we got home. Upon unpacking, we found that the locks had been broken, all zippers opened, and our jewelry bag stolen. Even a box of inexpensive jewelry purchased in Turkey had been opened and emptied. The value of stolen items was in the thousands of dollars.

The next morning we went to the airport to report the theft but were told LOT had no office there. We returned during check-in for another flight, and the representative told us to file a claim online. We also called the call center and received the same instruction. After filing online, we were informed by email that the incident must be reported before leaving the airport. This makes no sense—no passenger is expected to unpack and check everything before leaving.

This was a terrible experience, handled very poorly by LOT Polish Airlines. Until they take such cases seriously, investigate properly, and ensure passenger safety, we strongly advise people not to travel with them.

Scammers

I had a connecting flight but the first flight was delayed making it impossible to catch the second. After talking to costumer service they told me to not board the flight and that I will get a full refund. Two days later they claim I never was at the airport and just skipped the flight so I will not be getting any money back. Absolute Scammers!

Worst airline I experienced

I took 4 flights this summer with LOT and had 4 delays. Communication is bad, staff is rude and unhelpful. They are more concerned with giggling in the back than taking care of safety. 2 times the chair in front of me wasn’t upright during take off or landing. They don’t care if you can escape during an emergency just only busy with themselves.

The Polish airline LOT is the worst…LOT POLIS AROLINKY ARE SCAMERS WHO WILL ROB YOU OF YOUR MONEY

The Polish airline LOT is the worst airline. My husband and I wanted to buy 2 return tickets from Los Angeles to Prague and back. With the additional service of a dog in the cabin. The offer of this service was only possible when traveling from LA to Prague, but not back. We did not hesitate and solved this problem by phone with this company. We were told that we had to buy tickets immediately!!! online, fill out and send the necessary forms regarding dogs. We did everything immediately. LOT promised to hear back within 48 hours. After three days we called! Several hours! Nobody knew anything about anything. They did not approve our dogs for the return trip. We requested the cancellation of the flights and a refund. Within two days they returned 240 dollars. The price of a ticket for dogs to PRAGUE. THEY PRESSED US TO BUY THE TICKETS AND IT DID NOT WORK AS PROMISED. Communication with this company is unacceptable. No communication, no email from their side. Unfortunately we are not the only ones who had a problem with LOT. LOT is an airline that lies to its clients and robs them. PLEASE everyone with the same experience, don't just let it go without consequences!!!!!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO FLY WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!! THEY GIVE WRONG INFORMATION FOR WHICH THEY WRONGLY CHARGES A LARGE AMOUNT OF MONEY!!!!!

Extremely disappointing experience with LOT Polish Airlines and Maserati – Faulty watch, no support, no resolution

I purchased a Maserati Competizione watch for over $200 on LOT Polish Airlines Flight LO015 (June 12, 2025, Warsaw to Newark) as a Father’s Day gift for my fiancé. Unfortunately, the watch never worked — we couldn't set the time, and even after taking it to a certified watch specialist, it was confirmed that the battery was fine but the watch itself was defective.

Since this item was sold during a LOT flight, I contacted LOT’s SHOP&MORE team for help. Their response was to ask if I could deliver the product to Poland personally, which is completely unrealistic since I live in the United States and have no plans to return. After further back-and-forth, they said they would contact the supplier and promised to get back to me. That was over 20 days ago. I received nothing since.

I then contacted the Maserati customer service team directly via email with a detailed explanation and a copy of my receipt. I never received a single response. For a company that claims to be a luxury brand, this complete disregard for the customer is unacceptable.

To make things worse, the service center listed in the Maserati global warranty documents (Universal Watch Repair in the U.S.) confirmed to me via email that they no longer work with Maserati and that Maserati has not supported their warranty program in years.

So now I’m left with an expensive, broken watch, a ruined gift, and no way to repair, return, or replace it. Neither LOT Polish Airlines nor Maserati has provided any meaningful solution, and both have shown zero responsibility for the product they sold and branded.

This experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. I’ve wasted time, money, and energy trying to get a basic level of service — and instead received silence, deflection, and a clear lack of care. I will never purchase from either of these companies again, and I strongly warn others to do their research before trusting a "luxury" brand like Maserati or making onboard purchases with LOT.

A LOT of grief for nothing

I booked the flights through Skyscanner as they were the best deal. I booked a few months before departure, but after a few days I was told the luggage I had booked couldn't be upheld so I was refunded through Booking.com so had to rebook luggage directly with LOT - the website was buggy and it wouldn't let me change my country to the UK - somehow I managed to get through booking and rearranged the luggage. A few weeks later they changed the flight time, only by 10 minutes, but I had to WhatsApp Lot directly and ask them what had changed as the email they sent and the website didn't say what the new time was.
Then the same thing happened a few weeks later except this time, the connecting flight was going to be an 11 hour layover rather than 30 minutes. I was offered the chance to take a refund - luggage price not included. I was told could take up to 3 weeks for the refund to go through. 1 week down and nothing yet. Glad I chose not to fly with them given all the other 1 star reviews. Will avoid in future. Feels like they're running a scam where they can.

1 star is me being generous for this…

1 star is me being generous for this shady and worst possible airlines.
We had our travel from Delhi to Amsterdam booked for 2 Adults + 1 Child (3yr old) under Economy Class, with baggage allowance stated as - 3 Check In Baggages (23kgs per bag) , 3 Hand baggages ( 8 kg per bag) and 3 personal items (2kg each). All our luggage bags were in compliance with the said weight and size limits. We additionally had a Baby food/supplies bag (small enough to fit under the seat ) that weight around 7.5 kgs, with the following items (Baby Food for next 24 hours (extra- as our son has some allergies), Mineral Water with electrolytes, package Fluids- Juices, Milk and yogurt glass bottles, Baby carrier, Massage Belt, Back Support Belt, hot water bag (for my back support), Fruits, some toys and books for our baby and pair of extra clothes and winter clothes - as he was suffering from chronic diarrhea) in compliance with the conditions stated in their website.
The ground duty staff from LOT airlines refused to allow Baby Food/Supplies bags as additional baggage (which is in fact allowed as additional baggage by the Airlines) The staff was rude and lacked empathy and treated us differently. This behaviour was inconsistent and favourable for people based on their origin (White VS Brown). As we were already late at the check in counter (owing to a road accident on our journey to the airport) and my limited mobility (had slipped disc injury- records attached) and with a sick toddler, we couldn't discuss this any further, in a way disappointed with the overall experience and embarrassed to have been treated differently. We complied with the instructions from the ground staff, which included moving some of our luggage from Handbagges to another handbag - and checking it in. We did the same and hence the additional luggage checked in was 16 kgs instead of its original weight - 8 kgs.
We had to do all of this, while waiting in a regular line (instead of a priority line - that should have been offered as we were with a toddler) and were on the verge of missing our flight- We were at the checkin counter until 6:00 am and our Flight boarding was at 6:40 am.

Flight Details:

Booking Reference: K65E5E

Flight Number: LO72

Date of Travel: 25th March 2025

Departure and Arrival Airports: New Delhi to Amsterdam

According to the information provided on their website, passengers traveling with children are entitled to carry baby food and medical supplies as cabin baggage in addition to their regular carry-on allowance. Despite adhering to these guidelines, I was charged an additional fee at the airport and asked to check in one of my hand baggage to comply.

I kindly request compensation for the amount paid due to this misunderstanding.

LOT is a scam

LOT, your conduct is outrageous.
My flight yesterday from Geneva was delayed by 1 hour and 20 minutes, causing us to miss our connecting flight from Warsaw to Riga. I contacted your customer service twice and spoke with two courteous representatives who both offered the same solutions:

An overnight stay in a hotel in Warsaw and rebooking via Helsinki the following day (resulting in an 8-hour journey), or

A full refund to be processed within 1 to 7 days.

Following this, we called back to request a refund. Your travel agent confirmed that the refund would be issued.

However, as I had not received any confirmation email by this morning, I called LOT again at the same number. To my astonishment, there was no record of our previous calls, and the agent categorically denied the existence of any refund request. I was effectively accused of lying, told that LOT does not provide hotel accommodations in the case of missed connections (even when caused by the airline itself), and informed that refunds are not issued under such circumstances — contrary to what your own staff had previously stated.

This leaves only three possible conclusions: either your staff is wholly incompetent, your company operates under contradictory sets of rules, or you are running a business that borders on fraudulent.
Due to your misinformation and blatant bad faith, we have lost 800 Swiss francs.

You ought to be held accountable and removed from any airline alliance.
