Utterly horrible soaking wet lumpy muck full of thousands of worms and grubs.

Used Miracle Grow for many years but now it is the worst compost I have ever bought! Utterly horrible soaking wet lumpy muck full of thousands of worms and grubs. Smells disgusting like poo and riddled with pieces of glass, blue plastic bags and thick sticks. Useless for seeds or hanging baskets.
Obviously straight from the council recycling centre just like the cheapest supermarket stuff only 4 times the price. Never ever going to buy Miracle Grow again. Not worth half a star!

Miracle Gro Compost not the sam ise this year

I have used Miracle Gro compost for years with no problems & it has produced lovely tomatoes & flowers in tubs & hanging baskets. As usual I bought numerous bags of compost this years to find the texture is different. It has no water holding capacity. Is straw like so that water passes straight through. Therefore I need to water more often than usual. Even worse the water that comes out from pots & baskets is a dark black liquor which stains walls, flags etc. Sorry but I will not be purchasing your compost next year which I regret having used it for so many years.

Levingtons compost

Like others on this site, I bought Levingtons compost and found bits of plastic in it. I wrote to Levingtons - yes, guess what, no email address, complaints process or phone number on their web site; I wonder why? - and asked for a refund. A month later and you'll not be surprised to learn I haven't had a reply. Avoid them like the plague.

Miracle Gro Patch Magic

I bought Miracle Gro Patch Magic two 1Kg tubs to repair a few bald patches on my lawn. Followed the instructions to the letter with frequent waterings and plenty of care. Absolute waste of money. Nothing grew, nothing noticeable anyway. Need to try again with another product - there'll be another review to follow, hopefully a positive one.

Never again

I brought the miracle grow potting compost for my house plants, I had an infestation of fungas gnats, could not get rid of them no matter what I tried, had to repot all my plants with new soil, same thing happened, lost a few of my plants, read a lot of reviews with people saying the same, repotted them again with a different compost have
had no problems since. Would not use this product again

Wish I could leave zero stars

Wish I could leave zero stars!
I contacted this company via the website to complain about multiple pieces of plastic in the topsoil I purchased. Email automatic response said they would reply within 2 working days. It has now been 8 working days and no reply! Appalling, would never purchase such a poor quality product, from a company that clearly doesn’t care, again.

Full of stones!

I bought Levingtons Peat Free multi purpose compost and it has A LOT of stones in it. I wish I could attach photos! Not at all happy. Also, I cannot see how to complain to them - no email contact. Really unhappy.

A Poor Compost From A Leading Brand.

This compost is the worst I've experienced in over 40years of gardening.
However, if your dream compost is one that full of large twigs, small stones, plastic, small nails and broken glass, then this is the one for you.

Glutinous rubbish

I bought some 'John Innes No 2' peat free which I thought to be a reputable brand in order to repot a 25 year old house plant that I had bought for my late mother. The bag says it is an ideal medium 'for re-potting plants.'

I opened the bag and was faced with what looked like a large glutinous blob of road sweepings, which I would guess was at least 25% water by weight and which included what seemed like roadstone gravel and a lump of what looked like house brick but which was in fact a solid lump of ???.

I can understand why it is called 'No 2' because it was a load of s...

On the basis of this experience, I will never but this company's products again and would recommend others to do likewise.

Worst compost ever

This is by far the worst compost I have ever used in over 40 years of gardening. Everything I planted in it died, and the only thing that did grow were weird looking little brown mushrooms. I contacted the company, who were as good as the compost - ie useless! I would never buy this gain.

The worst performing multipurpose…

The worst performing multi-purpose 'compost' I have ever bought. The John Innes compost washes out when watered and you are left with twigs and fibre which cannot support plant growth. I bought it to pot on Canna Musifolia offsets and after three months half have died from dehydration and the rest have barely put on any growth. This compost is a hostile environment for plants. Even if the pots are standing in saucers full of water, the moisture cannot migrate up through the compost. It is the most appalling compost I've ever bought. The growing season has been lost because of this Levington rubbish. I would've given zero stars if possible.

Not worth any stars at all

Made the mistake of buying peat free all purpose compost. Oh my it is awful. Looks like it is mostly wood splinters and after watering it sets nearly as solid as concrete. I'm an experienced gardener and used to be the propagator for Bristol University. There's no way this dross is suitable for anything other than a mulch. Emailed a complaint. Quelle suprise no response.

Levington's peat free multipurpose rubbish…

Levington's peat free multipurpose compost. I am giving it 1* because there isn't a zero!
I have been growing tomatoes very successfully for 50 years. This year, with the dreadful black "compost" more like a bag of chopped up twigs, not a single plant has developed properly, despite adding F,B&B fertiliser 4 weeks ago, and watering with liquid feed. The tips of the plants are all shrivelled up.
Self seeded tomatoes in my garden, sprouted from my home made compost, are doing great, big strong healthy plants.
I bought four bags of this rubbish from Sainsburys. I wont be buying Levington's again!!
