I had an issue with my lamp, which I have owned and used for a full year. I emailed Mathmos customer service team and briefly explained my problem.
No problem Steve, was the pretty much instant reply. We will get some bulbs out to you in the post. I figured I would get them after Christmas at the earliest as of course delivery services are run ragged this time of year. But no, within 48 hours, I had reported my issue, agreed on a solution and received my new bulbs! Amazing service.
Mathmos have a clear understanding of quality service. Their products blow any competition out of the water, and it turns out their customer service does too!

I ordered a lamp several weeks ago and have only received very sporadic and unclear responses from customer service. No one is replying to my recent messages anymore – neither regarding any goodwill gesture nor about when the item will actually be delivered.
At this point, I’m honestly starting to question how reliable this process is, as the communication has been completely non-transparent and leaves customers without any information. I really hope someone will get back to me soon and clarify the situation.
I just hope that at the very least, the product itself will be as good as expected once it finally arrives.

When i purchased the Rokit lava lamp I was not made aware that Mathmos had a predicament which meant they could not supply the demand, they kept this part quiet. Anyway, moving on my Mathmos Rokit Giant Black Edition Lava Lamp arrived today i.e. Friday 07th November 2025, i purchased and paid for it £411.86 on the 09th October 2025. This Transaction more than tested my patience and i would have preferred being kept up to date with honesty which i did not feel i was getting. On the flipside it has now arrived and I can testify the wait was worth it, the craftsmanship is what I would expect from artisans, they really went the extra mile on the details of the packaging, unboxing experience was a perfect 10. I treated myself to an additional bottle (yellow/orange) so I can switch things up when the mood takes me. Im looking forward to Mathmos releasing one off/unique coloured bottles and wax, ill definitely have my fjnger on the trigger when they release. All in all this purchase has given me many mixed feelings, right now I feel happy and I hope this feeling stays every time I turn my lamp on. If there wasn't order fulfillment issues I would have rated this purchase a solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I love the Mathmos customer service folk. I reported an issue with our much loved "bubble pop" (as named by our 2 year old granddaughter) and customer service were super quick to respond and send out replacement items. When this didn't work, again they replied promptly and with great humor. 5 stars for service. We love our lava lamp 🛋
Avoid they take your money, lie about availability, ignore you, and refuse refunds.
I paid in good faith for a Rokit Polished lamp and Mathmos have consistently failed to deliver or communicate in any honest way.
Timeline / facts:
• No pre-order or delay was shown at checkout when I paid.
• After I chased them, the product page was quietly changed to “pre-order dispatch end of October” and “allow two weeks for delivery.” Those windows passed.
• Mathmos then repeatedly pushed new vague targets “middle of October,” “end of October,” then “early November” never providing a firm date.
• They ignored multiple emails, sent copy-and-paste replies that avoided answering direct questions, and refused to supply proof of the alleged “component” shortage.
• They promised a refund for failed next-day delivery and have not issued it.
• I have now formally raised a dispute with my payment institution and am prepared to report this to Trading Standards.
This is not minor incompetence it’s unacceptable, misleading trading. Their behaviour gives the clear impression they will take your money and then make you chase them for months with no resolution. They continue to market other products while failing to fulfil paid orders that’s misleading to customers.
DO NOT buy from Mathmos until they can prove they honour orders and refunds. I’ve left this review until after giving them every chance to resolve it they didn’t. If you order from them, document everything and be prepared to fight for a refund.

Time to change your couriers Mathmos or at least give us the option for a different choice.

I want to express my disappointment regarding my recent purchase of a retro lava lamp, which I bought as a special gift for my wife's 50th birthday. While the lamp itself appears to be of good quality, the internal lamp fixture was set at the wrong angle. I called your customer service team before 1pm (around 12.30pm) and was assured that a replacement base will be sent out, the same day, with delivery expected the next day. This was important to me as it was meant to be my wife's birthday gift.
However, I received no tracking information, and when I followed up, I was told the dispatch cutoff had been missed. Despite my call being well before that time. As a result my wife has not been able to receive her birthday present as promised, which is very disappointing.
I would appreciate it if you could:-
1. Confirm immediately when the replacement base will be shipped and provide a tracking number.
2. Consider offering a goodwill gesture for the inconvenience, given that the issue was caused by a manufacturing fault and the missed dispatched commitment.
In reply to your response the item has not yet been collected at 16.42pm according to your last message, we had missed the 12.30pm deadline the day before and item has still not been collected so far today according to DPD tracking. None of this would of been needed if you followed your high standards according to your website. Complimentary next day delivery, even though the item we received wasn't up to the high standard you state on your website, next day delivery should be expected anyway to resolve the problem.

Went to the showroom today to order my rockit black ltd edition and to take advantage of the 30% off accessories pity the giant bottles weren’t included or I would now have two new colour ways service was good as is always and nothing is any bother.
If you get the chance it’s well worth a visit to the Poole showroom but have deep pockets as it’s very tempting to buy more than you planned lol
I am in the Republic of Ireland and purchased through the EU website. I received a lava lamp with a 2 pin plug that is not suitable for use in Ireland. I contacted customer service in the UK who informed me that there is a notice on their website that this is the case for Republic of Ireland customers and that they only ship a 3 pin plug to customers in the UK and Northern Ireland. When I asked if they could send me a lava lamp base with a 3 pin plug from the UK, the customer service representative said that was just not possible and recommended I buy an EU-UK adapter. For the price of the Mathmos lava lamps, I think this is wholly unsatisfactory and will be looking into whether this breaches my consumer rights. I would not recommend this company or their products on account of this.
