Epic Fail!

The previous app was perfect. Everything you could ask for in a weather app. The 'thing' that has replaced it is atrocious. A jumbled mess of data and scrolling all wrapped up in a cheap, basic and outdated design.

The Met Office weather app until…

The Met Office weather app until January 2026 was the best app available. Then they came out with this absolutely awful upgrade that is not in the slightest user friendly.
Difficult to use, current location, weather, wind and pressure are awkward to find and read.
Don't download it, it really is that bad.
Met Office, my advice, go back to the old app, it worked.

Awful

Awful. I can’t stand the new upgrade. It’s difficult to see at a glance unlike the old style which was easy to view. The dark screen is not pleasant to look at. I have deleted it and won’t go back. What a mistake this “upgrade” was.

What have the Met Office done?

Why have the Met Office taken a perfectly good app and replaced it with this rubbish?
On a phone you cannot actually see the weather map for all of the various toolbars.
What has happened to the pressure maps?
Time to put this app in the bin.

What a depressing update

What a depressing update, it’s dark and gloomy to view and is nowhere near as navigable as the old version. It would be preferential to shut it down and replace it with the original. Why in 2026 are we experiencing a spinning wheel as it loads map data…? Rubbish… BBC weather app much clearer and far less depressing

Appalling app

App Forced a wrong location on me that can't be deleted. Most useful feature of previous app was 5 day moving isobar mapping. With that we were able to be self sufficient and get a sense of changing patterns over time for ourselves. This has just gone now completely. Current display conceals large parts of the map which lack clarity anyway. Attrotious thst Met Office foist this downgrade on us. Really bad software design.

The latest 2026 iOS app updates are awful. I have deleted it.
It no longer knows where I am and it’s ugly and horrible to use. I am back with the BBC app. The Met office have lost the plot. Don’t fix what already works I say.

It is so much worse than the old…

It is so much worse than the old version of the app. Where does one start? The colour sceme is depressingly dark, so too are the number of rain drops even when the weather is supposedly sunny. Max wind speeds are not easy to find and this is safety critical information for many outdoor activities. Finding weather for different locations is clunky. Please go back to the old version of the app

Dreadful revamp

Previous reviewers have said it all but the worst thing for me is the ( insane) inability to select wind speed in knots.

I used to love the Met Office app, using it most days. The link to mountain forecasts was really useful as was the link to longer term forecasts.
The new app is terrible. It has lost so much functionality, its large font has, ironically, made it harder it to read. There is so much less information than there used to be. Meanwhile, I'm bombarded with warnings and unsoughtful advice about applying sunscreen in January!
Woeful!

Bad change

This updated app is change for change sake. The old app was clearer with better font and much easier to read. The new updated app is cluttered with information which is hard to pick out. Don't like black background as it comes over as rather cartoonish. Not a good move to present weather like this by such an august enterprise.

Ruined,.

Why change something that worked so well? It looks so awful now, especially on phone. All squashed. I’m in the wrong location and can only have where I actually live as a location. How ridiculous. My locations all used to be available on the front page. Now you have to search for them. So much wrong with it. I really hate it.

Waste of time.

New app is clunky to use, difficult to read and needs constant scrolling to find information. In addition there is a major problem in showing current location. The Met Office say they are trying to fix it but why wasn't this done before the new app was launched. A complete waste of time.

If it's not broken don't fix it.

If it's not broken don't fix it and if you really can't leave it alone don't break it. The new app is less intuitive, less informative, difficult to to use and worst of all hopelessly inaccurate especially for wind s speed and direction. It said 12 mph from the south West, I went outside and it was at least 25 mph from the east.

This new app is a disaster

This new app is a disaster. It is too busy and difficult to navigate. Lost is the ability to have several sites on the front page to compare weather and the surface pressure maps that give the bigger picture of weather to come. Please revert back to the old app until these issues are addressed

Ruined

New update is poor. Poorly laid out, it is harder to find the information you are looking for. You have to do a lot of extra scrolling to find what you are looking for. The radar never works, it is aways slow and constantly loading. After 11 years of using the app I will be looking elsewhere.

Functioning app replaced with broken app!

What on earth is going on with the management chain for this broken app to be allowed to replaced a functioning one? Underperforming and, it appears, under tested! Why double down and keep the poor replacement instead of reissuing the old working app whilst the new one is finished and appropriately debugged? Main app accessible but widgets still unavailable. Astonishing!
