Previous version app was excellent, new version is massively inferior. Long range forecast disappeared, rain radar won't load. Tried to find old version to reload but it's not available. Used to us... See more

Functioning app replaced with broken app!
What on earth is going on with the management chain for this broken app to be allowed to replaced a functioning one? Underperforming and, it appears, under tested! Why double down and keep the poor replacement instead of reissuing the old working app whilst the new one is finished and appropriately debugged? Main app accessible but widgets still unavailable. Astonishing!
New app really poor
New app really poor, uninstalled it and moved to weather&radar
I wish zero stars was an option
I wish zero stars was an option! The new ‘updated’ app is a complete nightmare. The layout is hideous and the app is far far far from user friendly. Also the predicted wind speed is ridiculously inaccurate! I live in what I would describe as a wind tunnel. According to the app the wind speed is currently 10mph. I’m watching recycling bins flying past my window and watching people struggle with car doors…definitely something wrong with the app!! It’s like being lied to and gaslit consistently!! Please sort it out!!
Industrial espionage???
I can only assume the person responsible for the new app is employed by another rival organisation as an industrial spy. Looking at the near universal occurrence of a one star review here and the utter lack of usability and poor design both functional and aesthetic of the site, it leads me to believe someone has an interest in driving users to a rival website. A truly awful update to a previously brilliant useful and essential web page. I have deleted my bookmarks for the two locations I use regularly and replaced them with bookmarks for the old site. When these stop to function, I will find a better app.

The new app is difficult read and my location now is completely wrong and I can’t change it.
Dreadful change to an app that worked…
Dreadful change to an app that worked perfectly before - I wouldn't give any stars if I could! No settings available to customise according to preferences between Celsius and Fahrenheit, or miles to kilometres. No daily summary of weather for your overall area and no long-range forecasts at all. Bad layout, colour appalling, can't distinguish between sections and have to keep scrolling to bottom to see video forecast. All in all, complete and utter mess - whoever did this should be sacked!
Dreadful new app
Dreadful new app, cluttered, over-busy and hard to read and navigate. How much did this cost?
So dam depressing
So dam depressing. Why change and app that doing the job, where you can read , the new app is unreadable. Don't do another jaguar mistake (making something you think people should like) stick to the original. I go to other sites now, but they aren't as informative.
Proposed new design is awful
⁸The proposed new design is awful and dumbed down compared with the old existing one . Why offer change when it is not needed or wanted by your customers? Seems a waste of time and money! The old existing design is excellent and gives a full long term view of weather and is easy to explore and use.
Following on from my earlier comments on 31st Jan I spoke later in February to the Met Office call centre about the reasons for the change of design. It seems to be strongly 'age' orientated ie trying to get a 'younger' audience. OK from about 8 years old then ???

I am inclined to agree with all the other reviews. Too busy, difficult to navigate and just not user friendly. Yes, given time I might get used to it but I am quickly getting tired of using it. Where did the pressure readings go? I'm only keeping the app in the hope that we get some form of explanation as to the direction the app has taken. The only bit worth keeping the app for is the video forecasts.
Awful! Dumbed down weather app.
Awful! Unclear, not easy to navigate or find information. Surely pressure displays, pressure trends and frontal systems are fundamental to a credible weather app - sadly lacking ( or else too hard to find). Weather app on Apple has more enhanced information, clearer displays and more information.
Absolutely awful
Absolutely awful. Too finicky. Hard to pick out data when everything is grey and black. Almost unusable. The old app was excellent.
Sack whoever made these changes!
The person who thought these changes were a positive step should be sacked.
The new app doesn't even load properly
The new app doesn't even load properly. When I try to load it I put my phone down and come back 15 mins later! The information is all over the place and not even as complete as before. It's another sign the UK can't do anything right.
It's unclear to navigate
It's unclear to navigate, all flickering graphics. Can't find wind gust speeds easily, can't change location easily, no simple daily written forecast, and where is the long range forecast hidden? I used the old app loads, but I'm on the verge of giving up. I recommend The Weather Outlook to true weather fans.
The new app
The new app, is extremely difficult to use. Not only is the layout colour text information and graphics overwhelming, it gives me a headache and nausea. Not ideal if you have to use it for work regularly throughout your working day.
It consistently tells me I’m 6 miles away in another village which the old app didn’t do.
Do we actually need to be told it is one degree different in temperature than yesterday?
In recent days it’s poured with rain to the extent that everything is flooded yet under the air pollution section it encourages people to ‘enjoy your usual outdoor activities’ which is comical given the circumstances. Surely just air pollution low is enough.
I offered assistance to the met office to make it more accessible through app specific adjustments on apple devices and was told that it wasn’t up for discussion, and politely told to get on with it.
The weather is a very important part of my daily life and having to make do with a sub standard confusing app and having to have my whole phone in inverted monochrome to try and use it is exhausting.
It is sad in this world of inclusivity that the most important apps that we use to keep us safe are now more complex and unusable than ever, in a winter when we are facing relentless storms.
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Looking at the one star rating thankfully I’m not alone. I thought I would get used to it but I’ll have to look elsewhere, it’s beyond frustrating.
Very poor
The new weather app is much harder to read due to light print on coloured background. There's a reason why books are generally printed black on white!
Met office say it's less cluttered but not on my phone it isn't. It is very cluttered and overcrowded.
Tried to use the yellow warnings section today. It used to be easy to expand the map to see exactly where warnings applied. Now that is very hard to do without collapsing the whole thing.
I am actively looking for an alternative & will delete the new Met office app when I've chosen a better one.
Very poor show, Met Office. Yet another example of enshittification.
Met Office Catastrophic App Downgrade
If no stars were an option, that’s what I would’ve given it. This app is absolutely useless. It’s almost impossible to use. The dark background is shambolic. I have visual difficulties and there is no option to revert the colour to white. It’s practically unreadable now. Neither can you work out what the weather is going to be like without having to set aside a study period. What’s truly incredible is that whoever designed this managed to destroy everything that was good about an amazing app. Well done, you’ve dragged this app down into the pit of where just about everything else is going these days. Perhaps you’d like to link it up completely with AI, forget the science, then we can engage as much guess work as to what the weather will be as to how to manipulate an infuriating app.
