MG customer service is a joke

There is an issue with a brand new car (MG S5 Trophy) whereby the wireless charging has never worked and whilst this was never an urgent repair, it does need to be fixed. The dealership found NO faults, despite sitting in the car and seeing it first hand on several occasions, their suggestions were update phone, wrong phone etc. I do not accept that, the website says the phone is compatible and has updated not long ago. They were however polite and suggested MG customer service could help. What a JOKE, customer service was company focussed only, nothing about helping the customer, there was no attempt to help me, no offer of a follow-up call to discuss further once they'd sought technical advice, their solution drive to the nearest dealership and get it checked out, I told them that what I had done so they said go to the next nearest dealership for second opinion, I explained that is about 30- 45 minutes drive depending on traffic and would incur a cost to me, for something they should fix as part of the warranty, they then suggested going to different dealership who would obviously want paying.... and that was that.... No empathy, no Help, nothing.... I suggested this was not what I call customer service and they basically shrugged it off, I asked if they think this is acceptable and they suggested it was not a fault with the car. Note, I tried two different Android phones and three U phones different models and all did the same, charge for 20-40 seconds and then stop, case on or off made no difference and it was the same whether parked or driving, position of the phone made no difference and there was nothing else near the phone at the time

I bought an MG in Autumn 2025

I bought an MG in Autumn 2025. My first MG car. Since then, there has been a problem every month. The day after I bought it, the hood of the front charging compartment lost its ability to close. 8 months on, I am still waiting for it to be replaced despite lots of chasing. Then there were leaks on the driver and front passenger doors so the inside of the car got wet everytime it rained - those got fixed. Then, there were all kinds of warnings on the dashboard which was a fault from the control centre - that got fixed under warranty. Then there were warning on the dashboard that the tyres pressures were low despite topping up according to requirements - this was a problem with the central control which got fixed under warranty. Then there was an issue with the gasoline filter which required regeneration. I was advised that using the car for local commute was not sufficient. I needed to go drive long distance at 50plus mph so without any need to do so, I had to find a motorway. The warning turned off after 30 minutes at 70mph. The Satnav is outdated. The screen doesn't work well. I have given up on Bluetooth connection for playing any audio or even calls. The car guzzles petrol. A car should provide convenience but I have not enjoyed driving this MG as there have been too many things to fix and too many issues.

We purchased a new MG ZS from Drive…

We purchased a new MG ZS from Drive Darlington In March 2024. The initial purchase was great and we were initially pleased with the car. A few months after purchase it developed a misfire and hesitation. I mentioned this many times but the dealership wouldn't look at it during a service as they needed it all day. The last service they told us it needed rear brake discs (15200 miles) at a cost of almost £400. After developing more and more faults (knocking noise, rear washer not working, battery fault and jumps out of gear) we booked it in for the day. We picked the car up 7.5 hours later to be told no faults were found. I have never in my life dealt with a garage that is so rude, arrogant and unhelpful. I spoke to MG UK Customer service who told us to take it to another dealer. We are so fed up with this pile of rubbish we part exchanged it for a VW Golf today and lost almost a £1000. It is on a PCP agreement the final payment is £10900 due in March 2027. The car is worth £11400 today(asked Darlington to buy it back)...I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER MG EVER.

Absolutely disgusting.

Absolutely disgusting.
Seat cover cracked on the side of the driver seat. This was within a year of delivery. Been told that seat covers are only warranted for one year and they don’t want to hear about it. Apparently this is because I put pressure on it. Really?!
USB-C not even charging an Apple product, never mind using it for Apple car play. No repair offered.
Honestly pay a bit more and buy something better.

Think twice

I bought my daughter an MG3 thinking it was good value. Unfortunately someone smashed the passenger window in order to steal the dash cam. There wasn't a window available in the country. After 3 months I managed to source a used one on eBay. Then it went for a service, the subframe was rusted so badly it was falling apart. Once more, there was not a spare subframe available in the country. We eventually sourced one in a scrap yard. I could no longer trust my daughter's life in the car, if the subframe had collapsed whilst she was driving then it could have been disastrous. I've now got rid of the car at a massive loss.

Awful cars customer service the lot

Purchased an MG HS used 3 year old, sold on the 7 year warranty. Which is and Absolutely joke.

Although our main issue is the infotainment system, it controls most of the car. Aircon and demister etc all controlled via this. So when this all stops working you need to pull in and reboot.

Obviously this was raised by the previous owner, dealer informed me, but was not fixed. Now, as many state, so much is not covered after 3 years (it is now 3 years and 1 month) it will cost £2000 to repair. Absolutely horrific!

Spoke to dealer in ashington, horrible; emailed customer service pointless don’t answer the question stock emails. Top to bottom MG are awful. I would seriously advise you to avoid at all costs

Worst sales manager (Foyzol) - MG Mill Hill

I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience with the sales manager, Foyzol, at MG Mill Hill (Glyn Hopkins) was extremely disappointing from start to finish.

When we raised genuine concerns about the poor service we had received, instead of listening or attempting to resolve the issue professionally, he responded with, “Ok, I won’t be taking advice from you.” This was dismissive, disrespectful, and completely inappropriate for someone in a managerial position. There was no empathy, no accountability, and no willingness to address our concerns.

Throughout the process, it became clear that the priority was pushing for additional money rather than resolving the issues we raised. Even after we made it clear that we were unhappy, there was no effort to rebuild trust only defensiveness and a disregard for customer concerns.

To make matters worse, we had agreed on a deal with specific terms that were clearly reflected on the order form. However, when we received the finance agreement, the terms had been changed. When we challenged this, we were told the previously agreed terms would not be honoured unless we produced the original quote despite the order form already containing the correct details. Foyzol stated that the order form was “not legally binding” and that we would need to pay more money to amend the agreement back to what had already been agreed. This felt completely misleading and unacceptable.

Overall, the level of professionalism and customer service we experienced was far below expectations. We felt unheard, undervalued, and pressured, and it should not require escalation simply to be treated with basic respect.

The car

The car, MG 3 Trophy, lovely car, after sales service, not so good, and the car care plan, total waste of money, they call it refresh, From £998, I got back £597, it’s a 4 year plane, paid up front, cancelled the plan after about 16 months, and they took a £20 handling fee, Even Mr D Turpin wore a mask, sent pictures of the scratches , their answer, can’t do that, read your pamphlet, I didn’t have one, according to the sales people, you can claim 4 claims a year, of course you can, it’s up to the the car care people, if they want to pay for the scratches or not, and mine, their answer, NO, and some were only light scratches, waste of money,

MG S5 E Long Range

I recently purchased a new MG S5 E Long Range. Although the advertised range is 298 miles, the real‑world performance falls noticeably short of that figure. The satnav, radio antenna, and in‑car operating system also leave room for improvement. That said, the substantial subsidy made the car extremely affordable, and from a value‑for‑money perspective, it’s hard to complain.

MG HS Trophy 1.5 Petrol. Excellent car.

Took delivery of my MG HS Trophy 1.5 Petrol Automatic nearly a year ago. No problems whatsoever. Really like the car. It’s a wee bit thirsty around town but great mpg on long motorway trips. Good build quality and great paint finish. I worked in the Motor Trade for 35 years and have driven a few cars. In the old British Leyland days, that’s when drivers had something to moan about.😂

Absolutely TERRIBLE Cars from an extremely unethical Company

No matter what the marketing or promotions say, these cars are absolutely rubbish.

Salesmen are offered massive incentives and wholesale discounts to push these crap cars onto the naive customer, who are fooled into believing they are getting a great deal. What they end up with is an unsafe, unreliable set of wheels that spends more time in the service centre than in the driveway. Avoid like the plague!

0 stars, mg3 had it now from new just over 7 months. Long enough to test the car. Wow what a pile of crap my wife feels unsafe in the car I feel unsafe in the car it’s been into the dealer twice, one for a critical safety recall and the other for the head unit.
On cold start up it smells like a 1970s car, the smell of it running to rich the mpg was good in summer but if you have the heating on in winter your lucky to get 35 mpg out of a hybrid.

The drive is awful the safety features don’t work the lane asist tries to pull you into parked cars when you have to move out of the way.
The other day the car slammed on the in middle of the road saying it was going to crash( nothing in the road)
Only if I could give the car back but it’s delicates in value faster than anything I have ever know.

All in all the car is fit for the cap yard and that’s a it

5 star service

Was recommended by a family member
and was not disappointed
Service was definitely 5 star nothing was a problem
I dealt with a lovely young man by the name of
Matt Deeley
It was the first time I had used my mobility award which I have had since last year but never used due to the hassle from other dealerships far to pushy
I found Matt so easy to deal with nothing was a problem, everything explained in full very relaxing atmosphere
Got the perfect vehicle
Every thing regarding this vehicle was explained fully all the technology which was very new to me
I would definitely recommend MG Coventry Pilot park
Big thank you to Matt

I took delivery of an MG4 on the 26th…

I took delivery of an MG4 on the 26th January 2026. Within two weeks the infotainment system malfunctioned and stopped working. This renders the auto-hold function, climate control, satellite navigation and audio as useless. I've contacted MG on a few ocassions and on the latest ocassion I was referred to MG assist. The AA contacted me on their behalf to advise the car needed a software update and get it booked in to the nearest dealer. It is booked in for the 9th April for a diagnostics check. The service has been very, very poor in dealing with this issue. I wish I had read these reviews before I purchased this car. The service from MG has been abysmal.

Nice to drive, terrible tech.

We have a MG HS 2025 through the Mobility Scheme. Arranging the car was really easy, and the aftercare in the few months after were great. Nothing mechanically has gone wrong with car, but good god the technology is awful!

It's illegal to drive and use a mobile phone, however MG have basically installed an iPad to control everything in the car. Nothing is where you would expect to find it in the menu. This morning I found that the fog lights are under a convenience setting?! Fog lights are not a convenience, they're an essential. When the weather is cold, all the tech stops working. The speed system fails, the lane assist fails, even get a warning to say that the 'front facing camera is unavailable, please drive carefully' (Duh!). You turn off all the mod cons like the spy system that reads your face and beeps at you when you're looking at the tablet to turn the fog lights on by saying 'please focus on driving', or when you yawn on your morning commute to not drive whilst fatigued, only for it all to come back on when you turn the engine back on.

Occasionally, whilst driving, the auto emergency stop will come on whilst you're about to pull off from a roundabout as well, that's always a fun one!

In all, the car is smooth to drive but the tech is OTT! It's so unnecessary.
