We visited Bulgaria in August 2017

We visited Bulgaria in August 2017. We rented a brand new Renault Clio. The car and service was brilliant. It was delivered to our hotel as requested at 1600hrs on our day of arrival. It was collected a week later at the agreed time. The car was pristine, it also had the advantage of not being covered in stickers, identifying it as a hire car.
The hire rate was great, with no hidden extras, the pricing structure was clear on the website.

I have used motorcades for several …

I have used motorcades for several years now and will continue to do so after this trip. Their rep is always on time to meet me with the car and normally I am early to return the car when I fly home and a quick phone call always gets someone to meet me earlier than planned to take the car off of me.

Professionals at every aspect!

Last September I rent for a second time car from Motoroads, and once again I was very satisfied from the overall service. Professional attitude, quick car delivery at the arrival and no delays at the return; clean, full tank, brand new car as I have ordered. The guy called Kiril at the pick up had very friendly behavior and instructed me for some new features of the car that I was not aware. Professionals at every aspect! I would recommend them to anyone visiting Bulgaria.

Avoid them to save money and nerves

Avoid them (and probably any company related to same people) as a plaque! They claim on car rent page and while on booking form (and on FAQ as well ) that cancellation is FREE. Please have your attention here - the online book form + FAQ claims multiple times that cancellation is free if done 24 hrs before pick up date ! So I had to cancel 17 days before the car pick up date - but no refund to the credit card from them.
In their Terms And Conditions the claim or rather suggestion is that you can get refund - minus administration or bank fee. The excuse of not refunding anything to your credit card is that a customer can use that amount in next booking with them (of course - if that customer is not in sound state of mind - after reading the blatant lies on 'free' cancellation claims and likes to be robbed )

appaling service in bulgaria

Bulgaria, very poor company, used them as their website had great reviews, it now looks like they are very selective , as they post no bad ones,,,,i made a big mistake,
the car wasn't the one advertised, the guy that delivered it was more interested in looking at certain parts of me than the car, it was advertised at one price, but during conversion I ended up paying 35 euro,s more, this seems to be a new scam in Bulgaria, wrong conversion rates, you don't realise till the bank statement comes..
they wanted extra to deliver at out of hour , but did not tell me of this until I collected the car, the car was not clean and smelled, and had to have a pucture fixed 2 hours into my journey, the man who fixed it said the metal causing this had been in a very long time , so I presume the car was not checked very well?he also had to top it up with oil!!upon complaining, I got no where, rude man on the phone, basically saying bring the car back if I wanted ,but no refund, no replacement car, ,,, they didn't even turn up to collect, I ended up leaving keys in glovebox and getting my flight, ... bad company...

Dishonest company.

Dishonest company.
They delivered a vehicle without a full tank. When I enquired about it, they said not to worry - when the car is returned if there is less fuel than the current 3/4 level I would be charged for it, and if I return the car with more fuel I will be refunded for the excess fuel.
After returning the car with almost a full tank, they still have not refunded me and are ignoring all my requests.
Stay away.

Motoroads reply hereunder only confirms their shocking dishonesty. All reservations, bookings, vouchers, payments were done with Motoroads. Unfortunately the documents cannot be uploaded on this site which I would gladly have done.
If they decide to source their vehicles from other companies (of which no notice whatsoever was given to me), the customer remains their responsibility!

filthy car, awfull service, overcharged, look elsewhere, not worth a single star

palmed me off with a filthy car, miss fired, ruined 2 t shirts with the muck, tyres low pressure, dash held in with wood screws, and much more, gave me no alternative, no partial refund, then OVERCHARGED ME via my credit card, do not use this company, i have used many cars in over 30 trips to bulgaria, this was the worst by far, con artists, bunch of liars,
also just learned they ripped me off for 50 pounds by converting levva to pounds wrongly, (probably on purpose as they refused pounds or euros, unlike any other rental company), they used a sub company called byala cars, (unknown to me at the time)(but said unicar on the vehicle) seriously, do not use any of these companys...,
re comment by motoroads below, motoroads claim it was a subcontract car, yet all paperwork was motoroads, and i was not told it was subrented, i paid motoroads, i rang motoroads, they should have vetted any cars before renting, so it was ultimately motoroads that supplied me with the car,(carsbyala ,a bulgarian car rental but romanian email?? strange eh?) seems.they just got a cheaper company to supply the goods ,added extra money then wouldnt take any blame.despite my contract with motoroads,..motoroads do not reply now, despite saying below they will, byala cars are the same , no reply..... please, please, use neither of these companys, there are far far better in Bulgaria, they wont reply despite the comments below... they even tried to get this review taken off here....

Mixed reviews.

Mixed reviews.
We used the office in Lisbon in 2016, we rented Honda Africa Twin and had really great experience.Very helpful people and really good bike.
I am visiting Bulgaria this summer and wanted to rent a motorbike for the trip. Over the phone, I spoke to a gentleman called Dimi and had the most obnoxious and unpleasant telephone call. He was clearly patronising and did not let me explain my request.
I do not think, businesses should approach their potential clients that way.
I will definitely not use the services of the Sofia office ever.

Didn't provide what had been ordered

Rented a Yamaha Super Tenere from Dubrovnik. Added top box and panniers as we were doing a lot of travelling. Bike arrived without top box. Apparently it was broken. We were also only provided with open face helmets. Not the best when you're doing 100km/h on the motorway. No mention from them as to what to do in a break down. Noticed, to my horror, about halfway through that there were different tyres front and back.

Contacted Motoroads upon my return. Was offered a discount on my next rental. No sincere apology for putting myself and my fiancée in danger. Won't be using their discount voucher.

Cheap when you book it but poor service

I had booked a car already with them several years ago. I don't have anything to mention on this fIrst time. My comMents are on this year's rental car, that I booked in Varna during the second half of July.
First, when I booked the car, I was requested to mention where I wanted to pick the car. I decided to ask te car to be delivered to an address in Varna, Trakata. The online template did not request to specify the address. I received in return a booking confirmation for the price mentionned on the website asking to contact Motoroads to give them the delivery address. Neither during the online booking or in the booking confirmation, was it mentioned that an extra cost would have to be paid for the delivery of the car.
My wife, who speaks Bulgarian, called the company to inform of the address and she was informed at that moment that an extra cost of 10 euros would have to be paid as the address was "outside of Varna". She mentioned that in Trakata, there is no need for a vignette as it is still considered as Varna. Moreover, the Motoroads subcontractor told her that he was located further than Trakata, direction Balchik. Meaning that he would even have less kilometres to do to to come and deliver the car than if he had had to deliver it in the centre city. Motoroads then issued a new booking confirmation, showing the extra cost of ten euros. When car was delivered we paid that extra amount as we absolutely needed the car but mentioned to the person delivering the car that we did not agree with that extra charge.
Second, a few days later, when driving the car in Varna, I heard a strange noise, and a light, which had not appeared on the car board before, appeared and stayed lighted. In order not to create any problem to the car, we called and asked to get it replaced. On it's way to deliver the car from the airport to us, the driver had a car accident, so another person came, checked the car and the solution proposed to us was to drive to Byala to pick another car, which was of a smaller model. Hopefully, we were with friends who had a car too and we were going in that direction. They dropped us in Byala and we received a Renault Twingo to replace the Ford Fiesta that had the problem in Varna. A discount of 2 euros per day was given to us due to the smaller type of the car. This is a very small compensation for the loss of a morning, waiting for a solution to get another car, then going to Byala to receive a smaller car.
Last, on the day we had to go to drop the car to the airport, we called to ensure to meet the person who had to pick the car at an agreed location at the airport. He asked us to pick him, on our way to the airport, at a gas station, because he had no solution to go to the airport. First time that when I rent a car, I need to go and fetch the person who's supposed to pick the car at the airport...
I sent an email to Motoroads to inform them of this rating. I did not receive a single aknowledgement, not to mention any apologies.

Dear Jean-Marc Watelet,
Thank you for your kind feedback. It helps us improve our service and brings valuable information to our customers.
Yes, we can confirm we have requested 10 EUR extra charge to deliver the car to Trakata which is an area out of city boundaries of Varna town.
As you mentioned on your reservation voucher is stated private address in Varna, but not in Trakata.
This is a different location. We requested 10 EUR extra charge simply to cover our expenses for the delivery.
All other statements in your review are true.

Excellent customer service and great bikes

Rented a 2013 BMW 650 from Motoroads for a weekend travelling around Sofia. Initial communications were very good with all questions answered.

Bike was dropped off on time and all controls explained. The bike itself was in excellent condition and a top box was included in the price.

Would highly recommend the company and Dimi for his communication!
