I used an NCP car park twice…

I used an NCP car park twice successfully. The third time, 3 different machines all refused both cash and card payments. Other customers tried, too - and had the same issue. In the end we all gave up.

Two weeks later I get issued a fine. So, I'm fined for being unable to pay when their machines were broken, even though I'm a previously paying customer.

Their customer service is terrible. I entered an appeal process and they shut down all channels of direct communication. When my appeal was unsuccessful (despite my providing evidence), they immediately handed my fine to a very threatening debt collection agency and the fine had doubled - with no explanation. So, I was punished for daring to appeal my fine.

Their parking meters are very unreliable, as is their mobile app.

I would advice anyone reading this to avoid parking in an NCP car park if the machines show any signs of not behaving properly. Don't bother appealing a fine and don't waste your time with their customer service.

I'll personally be avoiding in the future.

I’ve used NCP car parks across England…

I’ve used NCP car parks across England for many years, especially in central London. Never had an issue as I always used to prepay online. Until last month when I was 9 months pregnant in my hometown and I needed to park immediately and thought I know this ncp close by. The machine was very confusing and I couldn’t stand for long as I needed to find a public bathroom asap! In a hurry I tried to use the app for location but even that wasn’t working and i eventually went home. I did get a parking fine sent to my address a day after my daughter was born. I even didn’t get a chance to look at fine within 14 days as I’ve been busy with a newborn. I appealed against the fine in regard to my situation. I just received a reply saying that have considered my appeal and I am so grateful to have been considered in this situation. I never used my pregnancy as an advantage but sometimes being a woman alone driving especially in the last few weeks of pregnancy is hard and a little worrying at times. So thank you NCP

Fines issued for prebook parking paid online!

I park regularly at NCP but always prebook and pay online.A couple of years ago I got a letter issuing a fine stating not paid.I had proof of my booking on line and copy of my payment on my bank account.NCP didn't apologise just said fine cancelled.Same thing has happened again so I had to fill in an appeal form send all proof. Not heard anything yet.I would like to know what checks are actually made before these fines are issued? Obviously none.I am both upset and angry.

Avoid NCP Car Parks

On 31/1/24 I signed up with the Greater Anglia - NCP station parking portal ready for a trip to London on 9/2/24 giving them my car and credit card details and received an email acknowledgement. I used the car park at Manningtree station on 9/2/24 expecting to receive a 12 pound bill through my credit card. On 8/5/24 I received a letter in the post demanding a 100 pound Penalty Charge Notice. The letter was dated 19/4/24, so the 14 days reduced charge period was already exceeded before I received it???? I went online to the portal and there were no outstanding charges showing, so the automatic payment system didn't work. I appealed using their system and they reduced the PCN to 20 pounds, but I still feel aggreaved that they have never billed me or issued a reminder, just straight to PCN. If they can acknowledge me automatically by email, why couldn't they send a reminder? Clearly their system has failed.... why should I have to pay for their incompetence.... I have leant my lesson, I shall avoid NCP car parks in future... their loss.

Taking advantage of vulnerable people!

This company takes advantage of people! My partner was in a serious car accident and no choice other than to spend over £20 a day in charges for over a week in order to be able to visit him at hospital.

Absolutely disgraceful that this could be allowed. Rather than worrying about spending time worrying about if my partner would live I was left worrying where I was going to get the next days parking charges from.

Shameful is an understatement!

Payed my Gatwick drop-off charge 3 days…

Payed my Gatwick drop-off charge 3 days late in August 2023. In October, I got a charge for non-payment of drop-off charge. Impossible company to get hold of, relying on crappy chat-bot to answer queries which they never can. When I questioned this in a written letter, (only way) I was asked to provide evidence of my late payment which I did with my bank statement. Since then, no replies 6 weeks later. Absolute zero customer service and zero accountability. A faceless organisation fleecing the general public by stealth practices, plenty of other customers just as frustrated and unhappy on this portal, it seems.

Absolute thieves!

You are absolute thieves! You have a massive sign at the entrance of your car park saying that it is 3.95 per hour, but without being clear that you need to have the app and book that in advance. Otherwise, you get charged £5.95 even if you try to pay using the app on the way out. This is called false advertising… I would never use your car parks ever again.

Problem paying with the NCP app

I was having problems paying via the ncp app. I went to the ncp webchat and RENCE, their webchat advisor was absolutely fantastic. Rence was able to explain what to do and really helped me out of a stressful situation. Thank you so so much.

Crooked criminals - stay away!

Parked in an NCP carpark for my gym as I do every week. This week the Autopay app wasn't working as it always does. No notice, nothing to let me know it hadn't collected payment as usual. Couple weeks later I get £100 fine. Appealed it saying I didn't realise the app was broken (which they confirmed it was "undergoing maintenance.") They rejected my appeal on the grounds that "I could have paid by other methods" which I would have done had I known the app wasn't working! Absolutely crooks and scam artists.

NEVER park in an N.C.P if you can avoid…

NEVER park in an N.C.P if you can avoid it.
Received a fine for being 20 minutes over time, but received the second fine of £100 with no appeal process.
Searched for a number to actually speak to someone - sent to a website of FAQ's that didn't fit the situation
Went through the original appeal process then still got a second reminder to pay £100, then a text from their collections agency who stated that i was sent an email declining my appeal on 27/11 and stating that an initial letter was definitely sent to me.
There was no email I have searched every inbox / spam / folder
There was no initial letter!
If i were to avoid paying i wouldn't be asking for a letter offering the initial payment
So now I owe £170 for being 20 minutes late and will never park in an N.C.P again even if i have to walk miles. I will be asking my organisation to avoid parking in N.C.P too.
Their model is based on fines, lies, and is criminal

I thought it was odd do I scrolled down to find the 5 star in amongst the ‘begrudged’ plethora of one stars…..disgusting, criminal organisation. No stars from me but I’m forced to click on one. I’m waiting for them to take me to court. I look forward to it.

My daughter and I use the car park

My daughter and I use the car park, we have the autopay set up and there has been an issue with it, rather than messaging us through the app, phoneing or emailing (all details on profile) they have sent through 7 PCN's

there will be more to follow and we have been told we have to go through the process of appealing each one individually rather than sorting this out

we have asked to speak to a manager and it is refused

complete joke of a company

What a waste of time

What a waste of time. You’d think that there would be an easy way to pay but apps are t working, auto pay isn’t working, no humans on the chat facility .. utter shambles for extortionate cost.

Grantham Train Station Rip Off

I have parked at Grantham Train station on multiple days and paid using the NCP App, only to be told that the App only works for car park 3 and not car park 2 where I parked - both are without barriers. I have therefore received 3 penalty charge notices (PCNs) for £100 despite having provided proof of payment via their own app. I have challenged the PCNs without success because "the App doesn't work for Car Park 2". I have paid in good faith and they want £300 on a technicality??? Absolute jokers - I'm staggered...

I made a review on here two days ago…

I made a review on here two days ago about scamming thieving NCP and how disgusted I was with them. They sent me an email address asking me to give further information. Guess what!!! The email address is not deliverable. I stand by my original review. Now a letter to the CEO of NCP, my local authority and my local MP.
