Plumber cancelled last min, refused refund

I booked a plumber for the flat-fee tap replacement service as advertised on the B&Q website. The plumber moved the appointment three times with no warning or checking with me whether that was a suitable time. At the eventual time of the appointment, the plumber cancelled saying he could not find our flat (despite the clear directions I had given him), and that he had already left despite me ringing him within a minute of his message.

I contacted NeedHelp to complain about this and that I would not be using their service again. Given my experience I was not willing to be messed around by them or their workmen a second time, and so they refused to give me a full refund – apparently if you provide a shoddy service you can still keep people's money.

Don't use them.

Deposit excessive and withheld

Only offering 50% of deposit as I closed job after 10 days due to only 1 response from a tradesperson who only had a small window to complete work prior to materials being available.

needhelp . com needs help!

It seems impossible and very complicated to find a solution. I was bombarded with a total of 21 emails from all over the place. I was blocked because I wanted to discuss the problem verbally and not receive another 20 mails. I finally found somebody on line who told me he was 45 minutes away and would charge me Sfr150.00 just to come by and take a look at something I could have described easily on the phone. needhelp .com needs help!!!

Customer Serrvice NILI sent a message on 10th January 2026…

I sent a message on 10th January 2026 asking for a refund of our £75.00 as the plumber (Pavel) who had responded did not start the job as he was not familiar with our type of boiler.
The other plumber (Franky S) did not appear qualified as on your site there was NO evaluation of skills, NO achievements listed and NO reviews – why are you listing plumbers without any evaluation.
Therefore I cancelled the job and asked for a refund, but I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT BY YOUTO MAKE THE REFUND OF OUR PAYMENT.
The receipt for my payment is - Receipt no wt_b260f919-deae-4220-8944-35b771cdf77d

We are certainly not impressed with your organisation – please refund our £75.00 ASAP. Your phone number 020 3318 2087 is useless as it says you are too busy to answer the phone.

I am pleased to say that after quite a number of attempts to contact Needhelp, I have now received an email to say our refund is being processed.

Website is completely supervised by…

Website is completely supervised by staff not allowing to trade and customer explain what kind of material service they want, instead of that charge customer for job hasn't been done or viewed to make accurate quote. Staff refusing medium quotes as well to charge maximum profit 25% of all job

Don't do watertight work until wet weather starts

Needhelp was meant to e my saviour after being totally ripped off. sadly when something went wrong, 3 months ish later, I was told the works were not covered by Needhelp to get resolved. My issue was my roof was not watertight and leaked water. Why? because the tradesman layered the felt wrong so the water ran into the shed. The shed luckily didnt have the electrics in yet, but if it had, it could have ended up quite dangerous. I would expect consumer rights would mean I would be covered for a job not being done correctly, but I didnt have the time to fight it legally. I needed the work corrected fast so it has cost me yet again.
I also had to redo the guttering as it fell down and the wind wasnt even too bad.

My total expenses total £4000 and what I wanted to start with is still not finished. Whilst some of the works not complete not due to Needhelp but the inital workman.

My lesson is that if I want works done that need waterproof via Needhelp, wait for wet weather so that it remains covered.

Otherwise the concept of Needhelp, holding the money until works are done etc etc is a fantastic idea just problematic when they dont cover works for a reasonable time period

Never Again

I never got anybody coming to install my IKEA. I sent about 10 messages with no answer and even got a guy calling me to say that he would refuse coming over after he found out about the IKEA products to be installed..And I am still waiting for my refund after 3 and weeks...what a joke...never again !
