Borderline Scam

Called to figure out how to return an item and for help on the website. We were told to hold so we did. We then got transferred to a scam call asking about Medical Devices and if we're over 50. To top it off, it then went into an A.I. phone call. This made us unsure of where our phone # information was going. Is other information like our card #, Address and Name going out to this number too?? We hung up and called customer service again.

The second go around, we told them what happened and they said "Yeah, we'll look into it. It's probably just another department in the store". We asked to talk to the "Manager". The Manager told us that he'll look into it and there will be an investigation but he sounded like he didn't really care. He then shuffled us into our issue trying to just bypass what we were talking about seconds ago. We explained we just needed help entering in a code on the site because it wasn't working. So he said IT is just going to have to look at it and that's that. No looking into the site, or asking where on the site, or any details. We then asked for help with returning a registry item and told him that the registry help desk wasn't open today. Hence why we're calling him. So he put us on hold, and lo and behold we were transferred abruptly to the registry line where it was closed thus ending the call.

Never have I seen a major company fail at basic customer service. The cherry on top is the possibility that our private information was probably leaked out just now as well. Extremely sketchy. Do not trust this site or service. It's all over the place.

Horrible customer service

Horrible customer service. I ordered a bar cart worth $3k nearly two months ago and was told it shipped and would be delivered only to not hear from the delivery carrier for 3 more weeks and then after my date had been set for delivery, was notified by Neiman Marcus the day before that the bar cart was damaged and unable to be delivered. A waste of money and time. Do not shop with this brand.

Not the best experience but being pragmatic

I see so many negative reviews here of NeimanMarcus and I don't disagree they are lacking as an online store but I am going to try to be fair and balanced here. From my experience and I have made several very expensive international orders from them over the past year now.

Pros:
* Great range and good stock of high end products, difficult to find from outside the USA and delivered internationally .
* Good front end interface for the web based online store, easy to navigate, search, lots of photos and details.
* Easy payment interface and has been quite secure so far.
* Orders have always arrived, decent but basic packaging with no issues. Although for the price range I would have expected more. Example high end jackets don't come in branded garment bags just plastic cover on a basic hanger.

Cons:
* App is poor and crashes, so I stick to their web store.
* After sales is non existent. They are responsive but it’s like to talking to an answering machine. They recite off a limited script. Feels like messaging and talking to chatbots and AI voice. So after my first attempt, I don't bother anymore.
* delivery time and action time has nothing to do with times they advertise. It takes them as long as they want, with no useful feedback. I would say it takes them about as long as an average online service to deliver or action anything. so they dont do themselves any service setting customer expectations too high in the beginning.

Overall verdict: Neiman Marcus is a good high end physical department store. They obviously don’t seem to be focused on developing a similar online customer experience. Choosing to outsource the backend and after sales service for their online service to Borderfree obviously says they don't want to be in control of the customer’s online sale experience. Borderfree deliver but obviously seem more concerned with keeping costs down.
So overall, they dont deliver on a high end luxury online experience. I am being pragmatic when I say I will keep buying from them products that I am unable to find through my usual online merchants because at the end of the day they have delivered a basic service so far. I am sure once I have a hiccup with them and they totally fail to remedy I will probably stop using them. I will update when that happens.

Ordered a Nambe cheese board

Ordered a Nambe cheese board. Was on sale with free shipping. Came used and missing knives. Called customer service who said they would replace it, but not cover shipping. Argued all the way to manager level with no common sense entering the situation. Children run this company!

Fedex delivered item to wrong house but NM would not assist and follow up

Item was sent fedex with signature. It never arrived and fedex had a signature that I did not recognize as anyone at my house. NM claimed that this order was with another item I did receive so I must have received it. That was not correct because fedex had 2 tracking numbers for the items, 2 different recorded delivery times and 2 different signatures. I told NM to file a claim with fedex because it has to be done by the sender. They acted like I was lying even though I also offered to show video at my home at the time fedex said it was delivered so they could see it was not delivered to my house. Fedex later realized they delivered to wrong house but NM never corrected this. I was stunned by their lack of customer service and concern. I don’t think they ever even filed a fedex claim.

They don't stand by their products

The Coppermill Kitchen salt cellar I purchased stained after it's first use. When I contacted Neiman Marcus for a refund, they refused saying the item was "used." Naturally, I had to "use" the item to find out that it stained. The stains can't be removed and the item is too ugly to use. Terrible service and I won't shop there again.

I wish they had negative scores

I wish they had negative scores, as Neiman Marcus offers NO customer service. I've been trying for 2.5 months to get a return label, and I still don't have it. I will NEVER purchase anything from this store ever again, and will tell my sister never buy me a gift from NM. They lie to you at every turn about "helping" get your return dealt with, and do NOTHING! No wonder this store is going out of business. They ask for the date of this experience, and it would span from January 12 through March 15, and the issue still isn't resolved.

FRAUD

I BOUGHT A PAIR OF GUCCI BOOTS WHICH CAME OUT TO BE 1,674.00 THEY DIDNT FIT SO I SENT THEM BACK. IT'S GOING ON 2 WEEKS AND THEY STILL HAVENT GIVEN MY MONEY BACK. I JUST DID A CLAIM UNDER PAYPAL AND NOW THEY ARE WAITING FOR THEIR RESPONSE. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. I WOULD RATE THEM A 0 THEY CHARGE TOP DOLLAR FOR THEIR PRODUCTS BUT DONT WANT TO GIVE YOU YOUR MONEY BACK. I HAVE CALLED 3 TIMES AND I GET THE SAME DAMN RESPONSE WE BACKED UP DO TO WE HAD A LOT OF RETURNS ON THAT SAME DAY

Communication is lacking

I purchased beauty items online which came with a free gift of a cosmetic bag with samples. I received ONE email with ONE tracking number. I was so excited to open the box which arrived on my birthday. The box looked small and the reason is because it didn't include my free gift. Luckily nothing from my paid order was missing but were is the gift? It said my order was shipping from a store.
I called and they said there was a separate shipment arriving for the gift. He provided a tracking number and said only they could internally see the SECOND tracking number but no notification was sent to me? Who will not be calling to ask were the rest of the order is? Everyone would call them causing unnecessary contact with customer service. But my gift did arriveBUT I have never come across a company not sending two separate emails with tracking information if anything in an order is not sent together. This is so backwards in how dysfunctional it is that I will not shop online there again. I am glad all my items were included, even the free gift after the fact, but the communication aspects are so abysmal for a luxury store of this caliber. But they will go bankrupt if they keep doing this. I won't dare give them another chance. Shop at your own risk or just buy in person preferably.

Fraud

I shipped my order back, and it showed return 12/15/23. I was refunded.
Yesterday, the funds were taking out my account. I called to see why funds were taken out of something about a weight dealing with fedex. Which I have anything to do with. I ship both pairs of shoes. The warehouse in Texas confirmed they received my order and refunded me. I need my funds that were taken out of my account yesterday. Neiman Marcus is a fraud

This website is a scam be aware they will steal your money and never respond to a call, email or text. I’ve tried to get a refund because they delivered my order to the wrong country and they never respond to my emails. Please don’t buy anything from this website they used to be a good one but now its just a scam.

they STOLE my money.

I placed an order 2 months ago while they were on $125 gift card for a $500 purchase sale. Nothing was wrong till the moment that one of the items (worths only $50) in my order was out-of-order while it was in-stock as I placed the order. Then they only sent me $50 GC in stead of $125, even though it was not my fault. They also give me an attitude over the phone when I ask if it's possible to exchange that item to another equally-priced item, act like I was the one who should be responsible for this, they also refused to return the money to me, ended up I spent $500 for a $450 worth of good, and only received $50 GC instead of $125,

Cheat you for $50 gift card promotion

Avoid. Do not buy here. The system is cheating.

I placed an order to order a foundation for over $200 to get the $50 gift card. A first-time customer and I don't know how to get the $50 gift card. I clicked to confirm the first order, but the website was not working so I clicked it one more time. It ended up with 2 orders that I originally wanted 1 order. Anyway, I wondered why the $50 gift card was not given to me so I called customer service, he told me I had to enter the code for the gift card. This is the first time I ordered and I don't know what code to enter. I just realized the system is cheating on first-time customers in order not to give out the $50 gift card. Avoid, do not buy at this website!!

Canceled Orders

I ordered multiple items from Neiman Marcus and they canceled them and I used a 15% off code on items and then they cancel them. I don’t recommend them as they are only trying to get your number to spam you with messages and codes that end up getting canceled.

Neiman Marcus Online is Untrustworthy

Neiman Marcus (NM) online is untrustworthy and completely worthless if ordering a gift for someone that matters. On 12/19/23, NM online offered free expedited Christmas delivery with code NMHURRY. I had a screen shot of the code in my order, but my order confirmation showed standard delivery, so I called NM immediately after placing my order. The NM representative was very polite and sounded like she was doing an exceptional job with offering to expedite the Christmas gift and waive the express shipping charge. She stated it would arrive by Christmas. It is 12/24, and I called NM to check on the pending status of this order and was informed that it was never shipped. I never received any email about any delay or problem with the order. When I called today, the supervisor spoke with his supervisor and stated there was no way the gift could now be delivered in time. I won’t purchase gifts from neimanmarcus.com anymore. The NMHURRY promotion was deceptive, and my order was handled with zero regard. This has been the worst customer service on an online purchase by far from anywhere I have ordered from. It was a Christmas gift in a Christmas themed tin that was never sent and there was no follow up about it. It has made this a very sad Christmas. This was for a very special person in my life, and now there is no way I can get a gift to her in time. I purchased 3 gifts for other people from other websites after I placed this order and they all arrived on time. Shame on you Neiman Marcus!

shop somewhere else!

I placed an order online that I was so excited about receiving. The order did arrive by FedEx however it was stolen from my yard. I called to submit a claim with NM and after an investigation on their end, I was told that the claim was denied because as far as they are concerned they did their job and the package was delivered. I was shocked this happened to me, four years ago when someone stole a package from our property around this same time from Nordstroms the response was so different, they truly made me feel that I was a valued customer! That was customer service I could not say I will shop here again. I was truly disappointed not only was I out of money but my Christmas presents as well. I am happy that I waited to place my second order.

This review is looking pretty epic! Nice!

Shipping charges for international returns

Neiman Marcus do not state on their website that customers are responsible for the return shipping cost of international purchases. I spent one hour chatting with their online service. I provided this information to the consultants, it was ignored and I was advised that borderfree (the shipping company) state that taxes and duties will not refunded when an RMA number has not been obtained prior to returning goods. I had already been provided an RMA number, the invoice I received to facilitate the return stated that the taxes and duties would be refunded, but a shipping charge was itemised. It is frustrating to restate a problem, and be provided no answer to the issue, just a restatement of what I already knew. If Neiman Marcus wish to operate as an international retailer they must provide clear information about their shipping policies and charges for international orders.
