NetSpot is a professional multiplatform app for Wi-Fi network planning, wireless site surveys, Wi-Fi analysis, and troubleshooting. Best in its class for over 10 years. No need to be a network expert to improve your home or office Wi-Fi today! All you need is your MacBook running macOS 10.12+ or any laptop with Windows 7/8/10/11 on board and NetSpot which works over any 802.11 network. When working on a Wi-Fi network that will provide an optimal coverage, you'll need a solid research and understanding the radio frequency behavior at the spot. The effective way to obtain this information is a wireless site survey. It will reveal areas of channel interference and dead zones, and will help you tremendously to build a solid network. The main goal of a WIFI site survey is determining the feasibility of implementing a wireless network in a specific area and finding the best spots for access points and other equipment like cables and antennas. With the help of site survey you will know what type of equipment to get and where to install it.

I've tried many few WiFi survey apps…

I've tried many few WiFi survey apps before NetSpot. Of course, there always are things that can be improved but the team (commercial and technical) is very responsive and fast to answer.

I'm working for a school, and I thought about buying a PRO license for my job there. After trying it for 1 days with a work-study student, I decided we needed it, but I didn't feel like giving my work computer to my students (trainees or work-study) to do surveys to train them, and I asked them if I could have another license cheaper for training.

They granted me 1 totally free PRO license after buying 1. So 2 for the price of 1 with lifetime upgrade on top of their educational discount, which is nice. Also, I had a bug with the "planning mode", it was fixed the day after I let them know by email.

It's by far the best price/quality ratio I have seen so far.

new version is a lot better

The new version 3.2 is a lot better than older versions. Finally it is possible to directly import PDF-files instead of only image files. Because every normal floor plan is in PDF format. Thanks for that. Also the Wifi Planning Feature is nice where we can select our exact AP models. We really like your solution. What I kinda miss is training on how to use the software correctly. Is there something like that already? Thanks for your product!

Best support ever

A long time ago I bought the PRO version 2 of NetSpot and have always been very satisfied with it. After a computer problem, I could no longer install version 2 and asked the support for help. With a lot of commitment and after several days, the support found an optimal solution for me. Because of this support, which is unique for me, I am full of praise for the great support. Thank you very much at this point.

Shoddy programming and predatory licensing

Predatory licensing, application constantly nagging to extract more money out of you and making backup and export as difficult as possible make this software a massive waste of money and time.

More specifically, storing project files in application data folder instead of user's documents means that any computer reset/refresh/format will nuke the files, even if user's other documents are synced/backed up to a cloud account.

When submitting feedback and asking for a refund, their support responded that this is exactly how they want the application to work, and awful user experience is not grounds for a refund (in which they're of course technically correct).

Avoid.

Unfortunately this review is inconclusive and nonconstructive. What do you mean by predatory licensing? NetSpot license types are clearly described and compared on our homepage, where one can select the license according to a required feature set and purchase the license best suited to their needs. NetSpot Home is the most basic license tier for home users needing to set up a small WiFi network, and is economically priced. If you click on certain features that are available in a more advanced NetSpot PRO that is intended for professional use, the app will tell you so. You can always upgrade to a higher tier license if you feel like you didn't think everything through before purchasing the license and actually need a more advanced functionality.

Project export and backups aren't difficult at all, you can easily store your projects anywhere you like, including cloud locations. What you are referring to as "any computer reset/refresh/format" was in fact "full reinstall of a failed operating system" according to your support case. We are very sorry to hear that your projects were deleted when your computer crashed, but it was in no way caused by our product, its pricing, or what you refer to as "awful user experience". Backing up is always a good idea, especially since NetSpot doesn't provide its own cloud services (and we do not advertise such features anywhere).

Garbage

Netspot version 2.16.841.0 has a button to start a new survey in an existing project but version 3.2 (3.2.0.538) DOES NOT so now I have multiple scans for the same floor but they're not apart of the same project. This is very frustrating as I use this tool pretty regularly, why they took the button away is beyond me.

Absolutely no customer service whatsoever, I can guarantee you Chris will not call you back.

I purchased the enterprise version and paid for the app so I can use my iPad but guess what, the app does not support the enterprise version as there is no option to input your license.

What a waste of money. Do what you want, I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

Dear Jeremy, so many questions, so few answers. Why haven't you emailed our tech support? We are looking for ways to contact you for days now. Please contact us via email asap at onair@netspotapp.com - this is the surest way to resolve all possible concerns about NetSpot.

We got your voicemails, and tried to call you back, but no one is answering our calls. Please note that we don't usually provide technical support by phone, this is plainly inefficient.

We also don't agree with your blunt statements about our software, NetSpot. Garbage? Ugh... If you haven't found the way to resume your WiFi survey, or create a new snapshot, is it really... garbage? Could it be that your license is only good for v2?

Also, if you prefer NetSpot v2 to v3, why not just downgrade? You can download the latest previous release at our website any time. But going on TrustPilot and trashing our app rating here seems like an overkill, doesn't it? "not apart of the same project" - what does this mean? Have you created several projects for the same location wanting to merge them into one? So many questions...

Finally, if you are an iPad user, you know that the apps for Apple's devices are sold through the App Store. NetSpot for iOS and iPadOS is seriously different from the versions sold on our website, and it's explained in detail within the app's description. Have you checked it? When you purchased NetSpot Enterprise, it has never included NetSpot for mobile devices, has it? So, we are truly sorry, but your claims that your license of NetSpot is supposed to work on an unsupported OS are baseless.

Yet again, we would be more than happy to help you out with your questions if you contact _our team_ instead of TrustPilot.

NETSPOT user MAC & PC

A NETSPOT user for many years on MAC, I now use the PC version and appreciate the accessibility of the software for excellent customer results. (mobile app is great too). The addition of a terminal model by support was done in less than 48 hours, perfect service. I recommend.

I have had Netspot for over 5 years and found it very helpful to find any WIFI dead spots in my house. Support is also very effective and professional. I did not have to wait for a reply email more than a few hours to get any kind of help at all, even when I lost my activation code when I reinstall my OS. Svitlana has been a great help to me just this past week. Very knowledgeable and professional.
