Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people found the app and website to be useless and poorly designed, with frequent login problems and a lack of essential features like repeat prescriptions or appointment booking. Customers also reported significant difficulties with the service, including unhelpful contact options and a frustrating setup process that often required extensive effort and ID verification. Some people also felt that the app's recent changes had made it worse, removing useful sections and creating a more complex user experience. Additionally, a few users mentioned that while the app could be useful for certain functions like vaccine appointments and repeat prescriptions, its overall unreliability and poor integration with hospital records made it a constant source of frustration.

Most useless and annoying App ever

The most useless and annoying app on the planet. Half the time it doesn't work, when it does, it is to show me a message I don't need or want to see. Why do I want to rate my local surgery after every single visit, no matter how trivial, and the dozen other useless messages it bombards me with. Why is the user given absolutely no control over this. Why is there no way of providing feedback. Why can I not f respond to any message from my doctor or health centre. Why am I, as a primary user, provided with nothing that is actually useful to me.
Awful!

I use the NHS app for most GP contacts…

I use the NHS app for most GP contacts and its been ok but the recent change has made it worse. It has taken away the GP consultations section which was handy to check the patient and GP were both thinking the same thing - very disapointed bring back consultation section - thanks I have just updated 27th April and increased stars. I have found the consultation notes it's in the appointment section so the app is good.

Dreadful app. Almost as bad as relying on Royal Mail

Dreadful, dysfunctional app, presumably designed by unsupervised work experience children. Every use is a dangerous risk to my already high blood pressure. Confusing, badly written, poorly signposted, often unavailable.

Need to sack em all, employ some pros and start again.

Face to face with medical staff, NHS is excellent. Admin, tech, comms, as well as some waiting lists, undermine them.

NHS APP LOG IN ISSUES AND WHEN ABLE TO COULDN'T ACCESS ANY INFORMATION

I received an email advising that a referral appointment has been booked and I can get the details by logging into my NHS app. Using the link provided wouldn't allow me to log in. I went to the app on my I pad and again no luck. However when I pressed back, or home (can't remember) I discovered that I was logged in. However there was no point because attempts to look at any information provided nothing. When I am using the app I don't find it easy to navigate and not only is there the NHS app but we have Patients Know Best and Patches.
I can't understand why my email couldn't have displayed my appointment details.
UPDATE 23 APRIL 2026 2.28pm. An absolute disgrace. Still unable to access and if you want NHS technical support GOOD LUCK. It seems you can only get that by filling in an online form. I found a number for NHS England. Finally got to choose option 5. Then was offered another set of options. This time option 6.Spoke with a lovely advisor who explained the APP is DOWN. They do not do technical support but have had to endure complaints all morning. Given the government is desperate to have everything digital God help us. Considering the NHS app is now a vital support tool forced onto us surely it's important enough to have an alert system in place that send a message via email or text to advise of technical problems. I'm fed up and disgusted at the atrocious entire broken system.

Completely frustrating

Completely frustrating. I expect many people will suffer in silence due to this ridiculous system. Yes it works for repeat prescriptions, mostly, but trying to book an appointment is difficult.

Lost all confidence in this App

Although I love the convenience of the NHS app. Its of no use if the GP's and Pharmacist don't use it correctly or they are not getting the information required to complete a simple repeat prescription. On numerous occasions both me and my family, have done a repeat prescription request only to arrive at the pharmacy two weeks later (not having received a text saying its ready) to be told there is no prescription ordered. We know we raised a request as the app will not allow us to order more. Then you have to start the whole process again and wait a week without heart medication because someone has not clicked the box. Notification are needed that the GP has authorised the request and the Pharmacist have received the request and the prescription will be ready for collection in 5 working days. SIMPLE. That is the only way you'll know when to visit the pharmacy to collect.

NHS App is useless!

I received a text saying that there's a new message for me in the NHS App.
1) I do NOT have / use the NHS !
2) I called my GP surgery who know absolutely nothing about any message
3) being able to have a quick look at the App - like most things in thi country - it's completely useless. It says on upcoming appointments ( 4 for next week!) Action needed.
That's nonsense: I use my hospital's EPR and have confirmed those appointments ages ago.
Another mess by the NHS - which will cause confusion and upset to many patients!!

This NHS app sucks

I always thought the Gov website was the worse ever until I tried to use this useless pile of crap, I think a child of 5 or less could have made a better app. It never let's you get an appointment, it only tells me to go waste the ER at 3 different hospitals. My local doctors surgery has had a massive upgrade on the building and now there are no doctors willing to do anything for the money they get paid.

Absolute waste of time and money

System can't even connect to GP to interact. Nothing works. Deep down in the NHS basement is a dark locked room. In that room is a very drunk baboon with a keyboard. Welcome to the NHS IT department.
