Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 108 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers frequently complained about overpriced games and aging consoles, feeling that the business has become overly greedy. Many people also experienced extremely frustrating issues with unhelpful customer support representatives, poor product durability, and poorly functioning online digital stores. Some people were satisfied with the core entertainment value and fun gameplay, despite the very steep costs of official hardware accessories. A few reviewers remain huge loyal fans who love the nostalgic titles and classic hardware, finding genuine joy in using their favorite portable gaming devices.

If I could give no stars

If I could give no stars. I would. Changed my password after a lot of problems and then once told to update new pw I did. Then tried signing in and repeatedly told to use passkey. When I tried I was told I can’t use passkey. For almost an hour I was sent round in circles with no help from their support. Absolute rubbish😡

Its like drinking the same kool aid…

Its like drinking the same kool aid flavor for 20 years straight. The subscription is like they added a new additive to the koolaid so you pay more for nothing really. Now they remake the old games instead of adding it to the subscription. Thats like sorry open your hand for the koolaid the paper container cost to much so its a new product that cost more.

Once they have your money it’s see ya later. Switch 8 months old, barely used. Plays switch 2 games fine, does not play switch 1 games. Trying to charge £216 for a faulty pin 😂….how does it play one set of games and not another if it’s faulty….not a chance you’re getting another penny out of me.

No refunds on the eshop

No refunds on the eshop, ever. Not even within a 14 day timeframe while total playtime for the title is still very low. The EU and other governments need to step up and combat this sheer ignorance towards customers by further strengthening consumer protection laws. Everyone deserves the right to a refund.

If I could give 0 I could

If I could give 0 I could. I god damn love Nintendo. I love switches, the games, wiis, but they are so greedy. I got a switch two for my birthday, but because it had a faulty broken cartridge slot (which is Nintendo's fault for not being able to build their own consoles) we had to wipe save data and send it back and get a new one. That's fine, right? Wrong. Because Nintendo didn't give us a warning, and are too scared I might trade between myself, I didn't transfer it back, because I thought as every other game, Zelda totk, etc... is backed up to the cloud, I thought Pokémon would be. So I lose over 400 hours, a lot of shiny Pokémon including a shiny rayquaza, a lot of legendaries and a lot more. Lazy company, do better.

Horrible Customer support!!!

Horrible Customer support!!!
I preordered Dispatch when I saw it was going to be available to the Nintendo Swith 2. On the day the game was released I learned online that the Switch 2 version of the game was heavily cencored accross all regions to conform to Japanese regulations.

This was not mentioned by either the developer or by Nintendo in any of the promotion they did for the game and as soon as I found out I requested a refund, following all the hoops they make you jump through to submit a request.
Note that I never even booted up the game nor do I ever intend to. I was tricked into buying the game and want a refund so I can buy the uncensored version in another console that does not compromise the original view of the creators.
It's been almost 3 weeks and after a first reply stating that the case was being escalated to their "dedicated team" I have received no new information, I have followed up 3 times and still no reply. It feels like they are waiting me out to see if I give up.
Long story short, never again will I preorder with Nintendo. Even If I get the refund, I will wait for the games to come out and for Switch 2 specific Reviews before buying anything they sell.
It's like they say : "Remember, NO PRE-ORDERS!

Quick to take your money, non-existent with customer support

Getting Nintendo Switch to actually support you (as a customer) is a total nightmare.

I accidentally bought Mario Kart for a birthday party specifically to run a 4v4 setup across two consoles. Nintendo does NOT make it clear that you are capped at 2v2 per Switch in local wireless.

The contrast in user experience is insulting.

Purchase was super easy. They’ll take your money at a premium price point in a few minutes with just a few steps to checkout.

For customer support, I had to jump through endless hoops just to submit a refund ticket.

And there was no follow up. They haven't even replied to my ticket.

They are happy to charge "Nintendo brand tax" prices, but apparently, that doesn't cover the cost of a basic customer service department. If you have an issue, expect to be ghosted.

The BS your going to face with nintendo

Trying to create a nintendo account is like speaking to the dumbest person you have ever known. Why are you telling my password is incorrect when I put the exact password with it written down and put correctly? Speaking of nintendo again with their mundane and money hungry practices such as asking for 90 dollars for a older updated game and requiring a credit card for nintendo online gift card with money in it. The process for creating an account and trying use a nintendo online is like speaking to person that is both deaf and blind. Since you would get no response and dead silence. Speaking to wall is more efficient than getting help with nintendo. So note this when dealing with nintendo just don't with their long and unnecessary complex account creation. So please do not trust nintendo with your money because you are better off trusting the money off to a stranger than nintendo. To end this off please I beg you give a nintendo a bad review due to their annoyingly buercractic system that is worse than the DMV and please support the people in strife with nintendo and with their practices.

We sent in a Joy-Con for repair due to…

We sent in a Joy-Con for repair due to a known defect for the Nintendo switch 2. After waiting almost a full month, we received it back in the same broken condition, with no repair completed.

This was incredibly upsetting for my child, who is autistic and struggles with big emotions the anticipation and disappointment were devastating. Waiting that long only to have nothing resolved is unacceptable.

What makes this worse is that this issue is widely known, yet customers are still left jumping through hoops for a basic fix. The lack of clarity, follow-through, and empathy in this process is extremely disappointing.

Nintendo can and should do better, especially when families are involved.

Refused refund for accidental double purchase

Nintendo claimed that a DLC purchase on a parent’s account would be available for use by child within the same family. In practice this did not work, which led to a second purchase of the DLC on the child’s account. Nintendo then refused to refund the initial purchase of the DLC content which remains unused. This was despite the error being noticed quickly and the request made using Nintendo’s own email template. They do make it clear that there is no right to a refund, but it does feel like a needlessly tight policy, and the customer service representative was oddly rude about it.

Nintendo, get out of my world! From now on, I'll only consider buying PC games and will never buy games from Nintendo again because Nintendo games are ridiculously expensive.

Greedy business model

It feels unreasonable to first buy a Nintendo Switch, then purchase a game, and on top of that be required to pay a monthly subscription just to play online multiplayer.
This comes across as greedy and unnecessary, especially when the same games can be played online for free on PC and mobile platforms.
This business model makes me reluctant to buy any more Nintendo products in the future. If you want to play multiplayer without additional subscription fees, PC seems to be the last platform where customers are not charged extra.

I don't recognize you, you changed.

I am severely disappointed in the decisions and actions taken/made by Nintendo in the past few years, no improvement, constantly getting worse and doing immoral things and becoming actively hostile towards everything and everyone and abusing their position.

You aren't the Nintendo of our childhood, I don't recognize you any more.

Nintendo is going fully techno-feudal

THE most awful customer service experience I have ever had, their terms and conditions contradict their information on the receipt of the email in the EU branches of the company, stating you are eligible for a refund up to 14 day after the purchase but when you contact support to request this they state it's not possible. There is no customer service phone number, there is no compensation for the mistreatment of customers, and more, they actively steal money from your bank account without any accountability by employing unlawful practices. For instance last year without my wanting I was offered nintendo online service for free, didn't use it, didn't care, and what happened after those months were up? I was charged automatically for 3 more months, with no way of getting my money back, with no way of talking to real people, just being passed around from incompetent person to incompetent person via email constantly. The Europe branch has no active call center, no complaint line, nothing. It's honestly embarrassing for such a large global company to run like a mafia, and the customer is powerless to do anything. I will never be giving money to this company again, the nintendo switch is officially my last nintendo console and every game I purchase from now on will be a second had physical copy, they won't see another dime from me and lost a milti-decade long customer with these unlawful and despicable practices. Good riddance.
