New motorcycle purchase
I have recently purchased a motorcycle from North Oxford Motorrad and I was pleased to find that the whole experience of viewing, selecting, purchasing and the delivery of my motorcycle was without fault. The whole team, in my experience, proved to be friendly, professional and true to their word in all aspects of my experience. Highly recommended.
Seemingly unconcerned about a customer wanting to buy a new bike!
This is not a complaint about bad service, but rather an observation I haven’t had any service. I’m in the market to buy a mid-range adventure bike and the new F450 GS was high up on my list. I made an online enquiry about a test ride/availability over a week, since when I’ve had several emails asking me about my experience. I’ve answered each of these, yet haven’t actually heard back from anyone in relation to any of my messages.
It’s not very impressive and they’ve lost a customer.
*Since composing the above I have received several replies from BMW with their apologies which was welcome. They may not have yet lost me - the new GS still looks to be high up on my list!

Stellar experience from Liam Jarvis
I contacted North Oxford Motorrad last Saturday afternoon as they had an Approved Used example of the model I was looking for with low miles and at a really competitive price. I called and spoke to Product Specialist Liam Jarvis and he confirmed the bike I had looked at online was still available.v I advised Liam that as I live several hundred miles from Oxford, this would be a distance sale. Not a problem for Liam or North Oxford Motorrad. Liam offered to send me some more photos of the bike and a short video (which I received in under an hour). Liam quoted me a price for North Oxford Motorrad's own driver to deliver the bike, however due to the distance involved, it was fairly expensive. Liam kindly offered to contact a reputable motorcycle courier and included their response in the video. Liam was polite and courteous in the video, introducing himself and then walking me round the bike, confirming that it was in mint condition. It was evident while browsing AT (several times daily..) all the bikes from North Oxford Motorrad are prepared to a high standard and it definitely showed in Liam's video. He clearly knows what customers like myself need to see to feel sufficiently informed to make a distance purchase and so in no small part to Liam's expertise, the deal was done. Over the course of the following week, Liam kept me updated with the necessary paperwork over email and called me every day until the bike arrived on Friday. This wouldn't have been possible without Liam Jarvis going the extra mile, appreciating that I was miles away and craving news on the bike! Never felt the need to chase Liam up, in fact due to work meetings it was me that missed Liam's calls. North Oxford Motorrad, please recognise and reward Liam for his outstanding customer service.

From arranging my test ride to the day l picked up the motorcycle he ensured everything was in place and went smoothly, so making my purchase experience one of the easiest l have experienced. Stonking Deal!
Made a casual enquire to NOM and got through to a sales guy called Mark.
Without "playing games" I laid my cards on the table on what I wanted to do regarding a deal.
Mark got back to me and say a deal can be done at what was suggested BUT it would have to be done before month end....I placed my deposit straight away.
Everything was very done via email / phone calls until final delivery to my house by a guy called Mike, who works for NOM.
The handover was superb, all questions answered and some.
For the record I was treated as a valued customer, no pushiness, no forcing things I didn't want, no stress, no add on's just straight talking by Mark and myself, hence purchase was done.
Thank you Mark (sales) Mike (handover) and the guys behind the scene(s) in the workshop and office.

Diagnosis was a waste of time
I took my recently purchased used 2007 R1200RT to BMW asking for a diagnostic check as there was a noticeable and regular stuttering of the engine when accelerating through 3-4 thousand rpm. I also had them check the fuel gauge. They kept the bike for 2 days and had spent at least an hour I was told on the fuel gauge, which wasn't as important to me as the engine problem.
When I picked up the bike they said there's no faults with the bike. I couldn't believe it and remarked as such but was told by 2 mechanics it was fine. So I paid them for the 1hr diagnostic and headed off home. No more than 50yrds down the road and the engine hesitated abruptly. I sighed.
After doing some YouTube research I came to thinking it may be the Throttle Position Sensor. A new one was cheap enough so I put one on and the bike ran perfect. Don't tell me that the professional mechanics at BMW couldn't find that fault. It was pretty basic stuff. The engine stutter was very noticeable and I think they just lied to me about test riding it. They could have called me to discuss the issue and I'd have taken a mechanic on the back.
They've lost me as a customer.

Got a fair price for my bike and was given a clear and well presented demonstration of my new bike. Was welcomed with a coffee and during the paperwork and treated like a valued customer throughout.

GS1250 from BMW Motorrad…
I purchased my GS1250 from BMW Motorrad Oxford, and it was delivered on January 22nd. Unfortunately, my overall experience—from test ride to delivery and beyond—has been nothing short of pathetic.
Leading up to the test ride, the salesman was approachable and friendly. However, the moment I committed to purchasing the bike, his attitude did a complete 180-degree turn. Suddenly, my emails went unanswered, phone calls were ignored, and any sense of customer service vanished. It was only when he realized I hadn’t paid the final balance that he decided to reach out.
The one positive experience was with the delivery driver—he was professional, knowledgeable, and helpful. He took my V5 and part-exchange bike, assuring me that I’d receive a tax refund in due course. However, by March, after contacting the DVLA, I discovered that BMW had failed to notify them of the sale. Once again, I had to chase the salesman, only to be met with complete silence. In the end, I had to personally handle the DVLA process myself—something that should have been BMW’s responsibility.
To make matters worse, when the bike was delivered, it had not even been cleaned properly. There was still mud on the tyres from the test ride, which is completely unacceptable for a premium purchase. The lack of attention to detail and basic professionalism reflects the third-grade service provided by this dealership.
I have no idea why the sales team treated me this way, but one thing is clear: the only reason these bikes sell is because they are BMWs—not because of the dealership’s service. If this team were selling any other brand, they would have failed spectacularly.
I also can’t help but wonder if the way I was treated had something to do with the fact that I am not British. While I hope that wasn’t the case, the stark contrast between how I was approached before purchasing the bike and how I was ignored afterward makes me question whether all customers receive this kind of treatment.
I cannot recommend BMW Motorrad Oxford at all—their pathetic customer service and third-rate professionalism make it clear that they don’t care about their customers once they’ve made the sale.

Liam is an excellent sales person, he was very professional and not at all pushy. He went out of his way to collect the bike from their storage unit so I could have a look at it.
I had the bike delivered to my home address, and the delivery driver was friendly and informative and had a wealth of knowledge. He is a credit to BMW Oxford.
I would definitely recommend this garage.
