⭐ 1-Star Review — Buyer Beware
Avoid NÜ Car Rentals at the off-site Denver International Airport location. I prepaid through Priceline, declined the additional insurance and add-ons, yet was later charged an unexpected $244.72.
Read every line before signing and verify all charges. I’m sharing this to help prevent other travelers from having the same experience.
Buyer beware—choose another rental company.
Agent at counter was manipulative and predatory. She made it sound like the extra fees were mandatory - like the loss damage waiver which cost me an extra $200. She insisted that this wasn’t extra insurance since my carrier would have covered any damages. She said this didn’t matter and that the loss damage waiver was necessary.
I will be better prepared to argue with them over additional costs if I’m ever forced to use this company again through a third party booking agency. Just say NO to anything that “requires” your initials.
RUN, don't walk, away from this company. Our experience with NU Car Rentals/Action Rentals in Orlando was an absolute nightmare.
We traveled to Orlando with our four children in October 2024 after having to postpone our trip because of a hurricane. Our flight arrived around 8 PM, and we waited OVER AN HOUR for the NU shuttle. I called repeatedly while we stood at the airport with four tired, hungry kids and could not get anyone to answer the phone.
After 9 PM, the shuttle finally arrived and took us to their off-airport rental location, where we encountered another long line. When we finally reached the counter, I asked to switch the reservation from my husband's name to mine (because husband's DL had expired). I was initially told they would have to cancel the entire reservation and that someone else could take our van. The employee then supposedly contacted a manager and came back with “good news”—they could switch it to my name for an ADDITIONAL $700+.
At that point, it was late, we had four exhausted children with us, and we desperately needed to get to our rental house. I felt like I had no practical choice but to pay it.
Unfortunately, the nightmare wasn't over. We went outside expecting to finally get our van and were told it still wasn't ready because it was being cleaned. After another 40 minutes, I was literally in tears and asked if we could PLEASE just take the van dirty so we could leave.
They finally agreed. The van was dirty and had only about ¼ tank of gas. An employee specifically told me to return it with ¼ tank, which we did.
We finally left after 11 PM—more than THREE HOURS after our flight had landed.
Then, after we returned the vehicle exactly as instructed, they charged us for gas plus another unexplained fee. I spent months disputing charges through my credit card company and eventually succeeded in getting one reversed.
This operation was incredibly disorganized, unresponsive, and, in my experience, predatory. What bothered me most was feeling that they took advantage of the fact that we were stranded late at night with four small children and desperately needed the vehicle we had already reserved.
Do yourself a favor and read the other reviews before booking. I wish I had. I would never rent from NU/Action again.
Absolutely terrible! They seem great at first, but once you return they start charging your car random amounts with NO EXPLANATION. You submit a case and they just say have a good day.
If you have a car rental with them cancel CC they have on file bc they will charges 100s of dollars!
I have filled cases with TripAdvisor and Expedia to have them removed from their sites as 100s of reviews say the same!
SCAM OF A RENTAL COMPANY
I rented a car in Denver back in may12-13 2026. four months after the rental they charged my card $65 ($35 in tolls? WTF and 30 in admin fees lol) dollars for toll charges. Was told they normally would have done so with in 30 days and rep had no idea why this charge would come 4 months later
Obviously I called to ask about this charge as I had never received anything explaining this and just received a mysterious charge. When I called they said it was because I didn’t choose the toll option. I would never pay for a toll option I wasn’t going to use and to my knowledge didn’t use. When I informed them I would not use their company again and would dispute the charge with cc company she said she would forward the information about my toll usage to them instead of sending it to me. Rude unprofessional customer service supervisor is so out of her league dealing with an understandably confused renter. I see know all the other bullshit they employ to extract money from customers whose credit card info they just keep on file( how long do they keep that info?). Please use one of the more longstanding rental companies as this one seems to be rooted in dirty tactics and untrained personnel.
DO NOT RENT YOUR CAR WITH THEM
THE ASK YOU 600$ DEPOSIT AND NEED MORE THAN 10 DAYS TO GIVE IT TO YOU BACK.
THEY DO NOT GIVE YOU WHAT YOU ORDER BUT WHAT THEY HAVE. I ORDER I FULL SIZE AND GAVE ME A MID SIZE AND I WENT BACK TO THEIR OFFICE TO CHANGE. VERY BAD SERVICE AND EXPERIENCE OVER ALL....
Mohamed is a nice person with a nice personality.
Thank you.
NU car rental is a good and recurring choice for us. Mohammad was very helpful. Overall good experience and responsive customer service.
No help at all. multiple times calling and emailing and nobody got back to me. do not go there terrible company
Great service especially with Mohamed and anwar thank you very much for everything and the great details about everything for renting the car
DO NOT RENT FROM NU CAR RENTALS. They are absolute Scam and based on multiple reviews they are constantly conducting Unauthorized Charges!
My Experience:
They Literally Stole Money Right Off My Credit Card!!!
I just rented from their Salt Lake City location this past weekend (Agreement SLC01-49989).
I explicitly told the counter agent that I had my own full-coverage insurance and did NOT want any of their add-ons.
When I checked my final receipt, I found out they secretly crammed nearly $100 in extra unauthorized charges onto my bill without my knowledge or permission!
Roadside Assistance: $41.97
Supplemental Liability Insurance: $48.15
Operator Recovery Fee: $9.01
Taxes & CC Surcharges on Fake Fees: $20.79
Let's Get a Class Action Lawsuit Started!
Based on several reviews I just read from many platforms, this company is consistently misleading and ripping off customers for financial gains, THAT needs to stop.
If you’ve been scammed or hit with unauthorized charges by this car rental scammers, here is what we need to do right now (As I Will Do Shortly after this) to hold them accountable and get our money back:
File Official Complaints:
Submit reports to the State Attorney General (UT, TN, CO, etc.), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
Dispute the Charges:
Call your bank/credit card company immediately and file a chargeback for fraud/unauthorized fees.
Join Together for a Class Action:
Keep every single piece of evidence, booking confirmations, receipts, and bank statements. I am actively looking into class action attorneys and platforms like ClassAction.org to push for a lawsuit so all victimized customers can get fully reimbursed.
NÜ Car Rentals is an extremely incompetent company. They rent cars from other rental companies and seem completely incapable of managing any issue when something goes wrong.
They failed to provide my booked car. I tried to contact them many times and it was impossible. Forcing me to rent another car at a much higher price.
I submitted a formal complaint 8 months ago. They have finally replied only to ask for more information…
Eight months to respond to a customer complaint is simply unacceptable. No solution, no compensation, no proper explanation. Just complete incompetence and terrible customer service.
I strongly recommend avoiding this company.
DANGEROUS! – NU/Expo Car Rentals in Vancouver
The Hyundai Elantra that we were given had not been properly inspected for safety and posed a serious risk to our family. The front brakes were metal-on-metal, scraping together in a terrible grinding noise.
The tires were measured to be a ‘0’ out of ‘8’ for their tread. This issue could have caused hydroplaning or a blown-out tire - both very dangerous situations.
When I called to inform the rental company that we were unable to drive this vehicle, we were told that it was safe to drive, to not worry about it, and to drive slowly (!?!?!). This was not an appropriate solution at all. We should be able to rely on a safe rental vehicle, drive it on any appropriate roads and to drive the speed limit.
We were misled and told that the brakes on this vehicle were changed 3 months ago. Once we saw the brake pads, we knew that was impossible and that we were being lied to. We wasted time on our holiday arranging for a technician to inspect the car, for parts to be ordered and the brakes to be replaced and were then required to drive on the bald tires back to the rental office.
We had to rent another vehicle from Budget Rental to continue on our trip, as the shop needed time to replace the brakes on this vehicle. The cost of the additional rental was more than $340. Even at that, we were relieved to be driving in a safe vehicle.
Renting from this company was a dangerous, risky mistake. This is pure negligence on the part of NU/Expo rental agency and could have caused us to have a very serious accident. For your safety…avoid this company at all costs!
I realy Enjoye the service of CD CAR,they offred an excellent service ,fluid and professional,so I recomand it ,you will never regret.

In advance of our trip to Vancouver on June 16th we booked a Nu car rental through Expedia. We were supposed to arrive into Vancouver around 12pm and were going to pick the car up at 1pm. Unfortunately our flight was so delayed that we didn’t get in till 11pm. As Nu car rental closes at 6pm and we were staying a distance away we had to book another rental car with another agency at the airport. Nu Car Rental would not refund us our money and although Expedia contacted Nu Car Rental’s to request our refund we were not reimbursed. Nu Car Rentals has taken our money and Expedia still promotes such a company on their website. We have been loyal customers with booking through Expedia but now are very disappointed!!
Nu Car Rentals are not approved by the Better Business Bureau but Expedia is promoting them!

PLEASE Never rent from NU! Period!
I read other review! Same complaints about hidden extra charges, final insurance cost double than what they tell you and charges separately by some insurance company after two days of rental!
Better you rent from other known company, even if their quotes are higher!
I will be filing an official complaint!

DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT RENTING A CAR HERE!!! Absolutely the biggest scamming scumbag car rental company I've seen it 50 years! My 4 day quote online was $165. First thing I said was the I did not want any extra insurance or roadside service. They say OK, no problem. Then they give you the paper to initial that you don't want these add-ons. If you don't read every line, they slip in that you agree to a $59 a day insurance charge and a daily charge for road service. Read every line. Most car companies will give you what you want and not try to sneak it in. Total was another $298 tacked onto my bill. Basically my rental charge was tripled. Look at some of the otheR sites that have reviewed the same thing. There are literally thousands.

If I could give this car rental place negative 1000 I would. This was the worse rental car experience known to man. The low tire pressure light came on asi was driving. I pulled over and called them immediately. They said I could return the car and get another car. However, when I arrived both rental car agents the blonde and the brunette, said I would need to file a claim or get the tire repaired. I declined. What a low hanging piece of horse manure. Do not do business with this company. Worst rental car experience ever.

Horrible experience. Tried to call them when I landed to ask about a car seat. No one picks up at the rental office. Had to drive offsite in a van without a car seat. When we arrived they said they had one available. I waited in line for like 2 hours and when I got to the front they didn’t have one anymore and told me to uber with my 2 yr old to Walmart and buy a seat. They ended up finding one after another 30min wait. Then when I dropped off the car they charged me for an extra day.
