Looking at 130 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. People frequently complained about missed appointments, unreturned phone calls, and severe delays in receiving essential medical referrals and test results. Consumers often felt deeply frustrated and disrespected by the unprofessional behavior of the office staff and the extremely disorganized scheduling system. Though some reviewers struggled with communication issues, a small portion of people were satisfied with specific staff members. Oak St Health has gone downhill since CVS purchase

Oak St. Health was recently bought by CVS, and my opinion of the clinic has plummeted. I have made three attempts to obtain a referral they said they had for me, sitting in the office for an hour yesterday, and being charged for a consult, but never getting the referral. The office is seriously understaffed and it feels like the emphasis has changed from caring for seniors to maximizing profits.

The CVS Web site is terrible. Very hard to find your records. You click on the "Patient Portal" link and it goes nowhere, though their marketing pages work great.

Oak Street Health

I had Humana insurance and decided in October 2025 to change to Devoted as the payment was less. I notified Oak Street Health what my new insurance was going to be. I had a prescription to be renewed in January 2026 and I called the pharmacy to see if it was ready for pickup and found out it was never called in. I called Oak Street Health on Austin Bluffs Parkway, which was my clinic. After waiting for the person to check some information, she came back on the line and told me I was no lomger a patient there because I changed my insurance. NO EXPLANATION! NO LETTER! NO PHONE CALL! NO TEXT MESSAGE!
SILENCE as in crickets!!! I had to scramble to find a new primary care doctor.
I truly hope CVS, as the parent company, is paying attention to all of these NEGATIVE reviews. Piss poor operation!!!
I am switching back to Humana, but I will be damned if I go back to Oak Street Health!!!

This is a corporate money grab. Beware seniors!

I booked an appt 6 weeks ago for a general checkup, but also told them I had sever pain from a bulging disk that was causing shoulder and arm, nerve pain and explained that each time I look up my hand was going numb. While I waited I must have seen 100 tv ads for Oak Street. Each time claiming same day appts are available, new patients are being accepted and doctors are available. For me none of this was true. I waiting six weeks to be seen. By then with ice, heat, rest, anti-inflammatory meds and Youtube physical therapy vids, I ended up treated myself.
When I booked the appt I did it because I was able to see on their website many Dr.s were available, just like the smiling ones in the ad. I read the reviews and saw one I liked. They said I would meet with intake for 30 mins. Then a nurse for 30 mins and then the physician for 30.
When I arrived I was sent to intake and it was a very cold, corporate approach to medicine.
First thing they did was to try and get to add medicare coverage through their corporate partners. Seriously, an up sale to an ins agency that no doubt you get a benefit from?
Then started telling me they are preventative so I’ll visiting them frequently. I’m hearing we’re are going to bill medicare for everything we can.
Then I was told that I’d meet with a nurse-practitioner. When I asked if I was seeing the doctor I selected online, I was told their Zuni location didn’t have any. Only nurse-practitioners.
Then more corporate non sense with the intake rep who won’t answer why I can’t see the doctor I chose with the same reply over and over, “We don’t have any doctors at this location.” I asked if there was another location where I could establish a primary care doctor because I’m new to the area. “None of our Drs. are taking new patients.”
At that point nothing I had been told by the scheduler happened. The ad clearly stated they were taking new patients, same day appts were available and the patient care was primary. None of that was true. I waited six weeks with a bulging disk?
Then I learn CVS had purchased this healthcare company. Now I’m fearing how their approach is so corporate it’s a money grab.
These ads sound really good for seniors, but in reality CVS is a stock held company that is beholden only to shareholders not medical patients.
This corporate approach to healthcare made me feel invisible, it was inaccurate, and when I questioned it they clammed up and started stating corporate policy over and over, never addressing the question they were asked. I left before I finished intake.
I worked in Corporate America for 35 years. The last thing you want is a corporation handling your future medical needs. It was easy to see that their objective is to buy a lot of ad time generate customers and to add to the companies bottom line, not to do what is best for you. And I’ll wait another several weeks to be seen by another group. The entire process was a waste of time.

I have never been a patient, but the Ads are overwhelming.

I have never been a patient for I will be dedicated to the people who took care of me before I became a senior citizen. It is not right to persuade people to come with consistent interruptive videos while looking at something else. I have experience that everything that sounds good is not necessarily so at all. We have a right to choose our own MD.

Oak street is actually united healthcare insurance which care insurance

I have watched their commercials and recently saw a patient who was mismanaged by their providers. Oak street commercials never indicate that this is a division of United healthcare insurance This is deceptive as their interest seems to be extracting as much from Medicare and converting patients to the AARP Medicare advantage which is owned by United Healthcare insurance

I went for an introduction appointment…

I went for an introduction appointment with NP Nancy , and I was impressed. I thought this was a good choice for GP care and I have specialized care at VCU. I called several months later for (non controlled) prescription renewal i was diaappointed Nancy had left the practice. I was told to come in to pick up my prescription renewal Arriving on time, I was forced to wait 90 minutes. Before I could receive my prescription, I was told by a nurse that I had to have a complete blood panel and many vaccinations I offered to pull-up (my chart) my blood results recently completed. The nurse said “it’s okay, Medicare always pays for these tests”.
I anticipate they’ll have a Medicate investigation soon

Bad Service

We started going to Oak Street over a year ago. We were treated great liked our DR, got in promtly.
This year we called in for an appointment(we go in together to save time) and to wait a month to get it. When we got there had to wait 1/2 hour before checkin. Then they only would let me in not my wife, her appointment was an hour later. As they took me back I told my wife to come along the nurse said NO. She did relent but told my wife she was not allowed to say anything. At that point I told the nurse they had plenty of time we were leaving.

I hate calling for an appointment with…

I hate calling for an appointment with my doctor or to ask her referrals. It is the worst setup I've ever seen and yes they are accentuating old medical records and they are frustrating me and they are difficult to work with and they are not following through on their work and I'm sitting here suffering because of this they need to be investigated for their process their patients should be able to get right through to the doctor's office not talk to five people and give them everything before you talk to the doctor's office.

I honestly don’t like their whole primary care doctor and their staff there at all ever now. I’m just done with them right now. I think that they just care about my medical insurance forever not really about me so if you have a chance and you go to the one in Warwick,RI please find another primary care provider and physican that really cares about you right now. They are terrible as well forever.

NOT at all like their commercials

This has to be one of the worst medical experiences I've ever had. I was interested in becoming a patient but had some questions. I called the local clinic (Joliet/Essington Rd) with my questions. The phone representative was VERY rude towards me, kept interrupting me. I politely asked her to allow me to finish my question. She apparently didn't like that & hung up on me. This is a far cry from the image their TV commercials represent. On top of all that, I have made multiple attempts to get in touch with their patient relations department. I have been bounced around from person to person. I have had no one from Oak Street health even attempt to address this situation with me

Several issues

Several issues - from the Streamwood, IL location. The provider recommended Hep B series (3) vaccinations, which are staggered. Had 2 the 3rd one - they called to cancel my appt as there wasn’t a tech in the office that particular day. Didn’t need a tech - a MA is qualified to give vaccines. Tried to get it done at my pharmacy - they discovered OSH hadn’t entered the vaccine records (as required) so they could give me the 3rd vaccine with the correct manufacturer’s dose as recommended. Got this resolved by going to OSH & getting my medical records.

Next up my Medicare Advantage insurance does not bill me for office visits to my PPO…ever, as it’s part of my plan. Apparently OSH thinks patients are uninformed and they billed me for two office visits, one was suppose to be my annual checkup…which they made it a regular visit. And they continue to bill me for the two visits. I filed a grievance with my insurance and I am 100% correct but OSH continues to bill me as if they were a specialist office where I do pay a co-pay for the one specialist I see for a specific diagnosis that a General Practitioner doesn’t treat.

I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to make sure OSH doesn’t get away with overcharging patients. This is clear Medicare fraud or a very feeble attempt at Medicare fraud. I spent 15 years in Healthcare IT and trained & supported hundreds of medical staff in EHR (patient charts), billing processes and more. I’ve spotted fraud before. Billing patients for services Medicare reduced because of their contracts is highly frowned upon. I just hope patients pay close attention but fear because they provide services to an older group of patients - many pay their bill without verification.

I have switched primary providers as I wouldn’t take my pets to OSH for treatment.

Oak Street Health - Don't even bother!

I made an appointment with Oak Street Health as I am looking for a primary health care provider. This was by far the worst medical experience I have ever had. The PA was cantankerous, extremely condescending, and basically scolded and criticized me for everything I am doing to maintain my health to this point in my life. This was not a conversation with a medical provider, it was a lecture with a very condescending attitude.

Strongly Advise Against Applying

Strongly Advise Against Applying: I would never recommend anyone work for this company, particularly the Durham, NC clinic. It is by far the worst professional environment I have ever experienced.
Toxic Management & Favoritism: Management is entirely incapable of separating personal friendships from professional boundaries. If you are not close friends with the supervisor, you are treated poorly. Company policies are applied inconsistently and only upheld for certain individuals.
Punished for Teamwork: There is zero collaboration. Asking a colleague for help results in them complaining to management, which leads to the supervisor reprimanding you simply for trying to communicate and do your job.
Zero Growth: There is absolutely no opportunity for career advancement or professional development within this clinic or the company as a whole.

Oakstreethealths-570 Little York

Oakstreethealths-570 Little York, Houston, Tx. 77091 location has switched my brother(Charles Seals) and his wife (Christine Seals) medical records. They have made no efforts to correct this.
When I called today (06-25-26) to ask what was going to be done about this the person on the phone mentioned a new computer system and then hung up.
From what I (Cynthia Green
-sister of Charles) have found out this is a usual occurrence that should be rectified ASAP in order to avoid more legal actions that this company doesn't need, it would be in their best interest to take this seriously!
My brother is a veteran and this will be reported to the VA.

I like working on my health issues with Stephanie Moore. The problem is getting in to see her when I have a health issue. You call the administrative appointment scheduler and you rarely can get in for two or three weeks. Last time that person said if I needed care sooner I should go to an urgent care facility. Which under my insurance the copay is $130. Not sure of the exact date

Oak Street Health mostly concentrates…

Oak Street Health mostly concentrates on healthy patients. But when one of those patients get sick, they don't have same day appts available for a provider to review your needs. They rely on call centers and nurses to evaluate you. This is not what healthcare should be. Sure there are urgent care centers available but many times those providers are not in network with your insurance so therefore you have to pay large amounts of money out of pocket. Maybe we should send all those bills to Oak Street Health! Concerned for my health? Not Oak Steet Health!
