Backward appalling attitude
This company has in direct communication with me demonstrated a shockingly demeaning attitude toward white collar workers or professionals. We are increasingly being forced out of our industries due to radical technological and other disruptions and seeking entry-level opportunities in more secure fields.
However the attitude of this company is that apprenticeships are not entry-level opportunities. They maintain that there are in reality no entry-level opportunities, nor should there be. Anyone without prior blue collar experience is seen as worthless unless they 'prove' themselves via working in 'extreme conditions' as an unskilled labourer.
The obvious implication is that a growing underclass of low-paid disposable labourers is being cultivated to the exclusive benefit of employers. We are all expected to just join this underclass with the hope of one day being deemed worthy of an actual career. This may well be a structural problem but companies with such appalling attitudes are exacerbating the problem.
