I ordered a Spittlefield small sofa…

I ordered a Spittlefield small sofa last April and was advised it would be delivered in around 3 months which was fine, particularly as we were in and out of lockdowns. It came as promised in August and appeared just as advertised but as I began to sit on it, clearly the cushions did not match as one was very hard and uncomfortable compared with the other and visually made one back cushion appear higher than the other. They offered to order another infill but it would take 8 weeks. When 8 weeks had passed I rang and was advised that it was in and they would arrange a delivery, however time passed so I rang again and was told there was a delay with the supplier. It was therefore around 4 months before I eventually got the replacement, during which time I was the owner of a little used and very uncomfortable sofa. The staff were always polite and eager to help but there is a clearly need for better quality control within the company as, reading through these reviews, other customers have had a similar experience with cushions. I have never ordered furniture on line before and after this experience will not do so again.

I love my sofa! Really delighted!

I love my sofa - it’s just what I wanted, the quality is great, it looks wonderful, I love the combo of new yet with a retro/vintage feel - and it is really comfortable!
The customer service from old Boot has also been fantastic - a truly caring, personal service (even down to the delivery guys) that is really unusual these days! Hugely recommended!

Fantastic service from start to finish…

Fantastic service from start to finish from getting leather samples at the beginning and great communication all the way through to receiving our new sofa. We ended up getting it a few weeks early too which was a bonus. Excellent quality too.

Please don't buy or order from this…

Please don't buy or order from this company as they are cheater.
I order a sofa from this company in 2020 with a duck cushion.
I try to site on it I find it so hard if feels like sitting on a hard rock so cannot send it back as it has passed the time. Then I left without sitting on it for almost a year just trying to make is soft. Believe it or not I site on it 2 day ago and still it is as hard as a rock so I opened the cushions to look inside - inside where they put the duck feather but it is folded into 2 that means the cushions is not made for my sofa they just gave me a cushions inside that was made for a bigger sofa. what kind of service is this. I wish I have looked inside before.
I will advise any one not to order from them waste of money.

Looking at your order I can see since your original review we have replaced the cushion infill with a full feather infill which is the softest infill we can offer and is the same as the one you tried on your visit to the showroom. As we had not heard anything further from you regarding the cushion infill since you took delivery we believed the replacement had resolved the issue. Superb customer service from order to…

Superb customer service from order to delivery and always helpful with information and samples. Absolutely delighted with the sofa and chair but not so the cat and dog as they're now banned from them! Too lovely to spoil. How about an Old Boot dog sofa to match?

Outstanding quality sofa.

Old Boot Sofa's were amazing from the initial fabric sample request through to delivery.
The quality of the sofa is outstanding. It is rare these days to find suchsuperior craftmanship. I have a sofa that is eye catching, supremely comfortable and will last my life time.
Delivery was before specified date and couriers were efficient, polite and helpful.
I highly recommend this company.

Our new velvet sofa is exactly what we…

Our new velvet sofa is exactly what we wanted and is excellent quality. We had ordered fabric swatches in advance and colour and shape are lovely. The firm kept us updated about when it would be delivered and the delivery men were excellent.

Totally spurious marketing - I sent my sofa back

Initially, I was very impressed with this company's website and marketing and therefore ordered a two seater sofa. What arrived was a totally different coloured sofa in terms of shade and a poor quality leather. It certainly did not have the "lived in vintage look" that was portrayed on the website and the reason as to why I purchased it in the first place. I immediately requested a return of the sofa and a refund. I was then informed that a £50 pick up charge was required - why was this necessary when it was your fault as the description of the sofa was blatantly incorrect and misleading? Eventually picked up two weeks later at a begrudged fee of £25 and then a six week delay in refunding my money. There are several companies in the market that produce better quality products and do not mislead clients.

Looking back at your order I can see that you were sent samples of the Vintage Tan and Vintage Brown leather on 1st October prior to your order being placed on 5th October. As we discussed in our correspondence following delivery of your order we always send samples out so a customer can see the quality and the finish of the different ranges, touch and feel them and check they are happy with everything prior to going ahead with any order. I can see from our notes that you confirmed receipt of these samples.

Our Vintage Leather range is made from the highest Italian quality full aniline leather and undergoes a unique tanning process to offer just the right tones, shades and texture to give an authentic vintage look. This is a leather which just gets better and better with age and use and over time will develop the most wonderful patina offering more and more of the vintage lived in look.

Details of the return collection charge is clearly set out in our terms and conditions which were sent to you on 6th October as both a link to our website and as part of our order pack. Our refund policy is also set out in these terms and conditions and looking at the notes this was completed within the time frame provided.

I am truly sorry that we could not provide the sofa you were looking for however I do believe we offered you every opportunity to review your order prior to going ahead and to see and handle the leather. We also exhausted all options once you had taken delivery including offering an alternative sofa in Vintage Tan or Vintage Brown and even to make you one in one of our alternative leather ranges.

I would never buy a sofa from this…

I would never buy a sofa from this company again. The quality or lack of it I should say does not reflect the price. The sofa is not at all comfortable. I would probably have had a better sofa from the more widely known companies as advertised on TV. I live in Manchester so it would have been an expensive trip to visit the showroom in Fulham. I shall never buy a sofa online again.

If you want a sofa where the pieces end up in different shades, get one of these

Ordered a 4 seater Battersea sofa and 2 seater sofa bed both in rustic grey leather. However after they had been delivered and unpacked, I noticed that the seat cushions, back cushions and base of the 4 seater sofa were a different shade of grey (mid grey) to the rest of the sofa (blue/grey) making the sofa effectively 2-tone in appearance. The 2 seater sofa did not have this issue as all of the leather pieces were the same shade.

I reported this to Old Boot Sofa and was told that different parts of a hide could take colour dyeing in different ways. This is ridiculous as it would mean that it is effectively down to chance that all of the pieces of any manufactured sofa would ever actually match and no high-end sofa manufacturing business could realistically operate like this.

I would have been disappointed if this had been a budget DFS sofa but the fact that it cost nearly £2500 (this was just for the 4 seater) makes this a very bitter pill to swallow (& offering compensation of £100 off another order for scatter cushions really doesn't cut it).

Update 05-Jan-2022: I have asked Old Boot Sofas to provide replacement seat/back leather cushions in a colour that is a closer match to the rest of the 4-seater sofa and the 2-seater. I cut a section of leather from inside the zip "pocket" of one of the 2-seater cushions for their workshop to colour match to. This isnt an optimal solution as the new cushions may still not be an exact match to this but hopefully it will be better than it is now.

I will update this review when the new cushions arrive which I would estimate to be late Feb/Mar 2022.

Update 08-Apr-2022: I received the replacement leather seat & back covers today (so removed the old ones and fitted the foam which was not an easy job on the seat covers as the foam fits tightly) and these now match the rest of the sofa. I have increased the rating of my review from 1 to 3 star as this could have all been detected at the point of manufacturing but the retail side of the business did at least take remediation steps which was appreciated.

3 seater and xl sofas

Bought a Whitechapel xl and a three seater it was painless from start to finish.The first couple of weeks were entertaining as the cushions were very slippery but now it’s moulded and softened it’s becoming much more comfortable by the minute ….would I purchase again… YES
