Friendly service and neat work
The entire process was extremely smooth and quick. The engineer, a contractor with MJ Quinn for OpenReach, named Ajaz, was superb. He was a lovely polite young man who was very friendly and helpful, explaining the entire process and was very neat in his work.
A Good Experience
Josh, the person who came was exceptionally obliging and helpful. He left us feeling confident that we could operate the system without hitches.

Very poor service engineer came late waiting for so long. Local branch didn't help waited there long time no response
Digital upgrade
Arrived early and job completed efficiently. Issue with available power sockets was sorted but will need some tidying up. Some debris from drilling was left.

Your Engineer could not have been more efficient and very helpful. We are elderly and he took the time and trouble to explain what he needed to do and why. When the job was completed everything was left neat and tidy and just as he found it.A delightful person.
Our new fibre connection works. Finally. The experience was not good
The engineer arrived in the assigned timeslot and fitted the fibre connection and it all works fine.
That's about the only positive.
We arranged with PlusNet for the fibre to be installed on 11th August (a whole rigmarole in itself). Then OpenReach "confirmed" the date of 21st August. So already we were not pleased.
The engineer was friendly and professional. BUT he was annoyed that we wanted the terminal fitting in our hallway, near where the old copper line had been. It would have been easier for him to fit it directly into the nearest entry point of the house, but this is our dining room and we don't want bits of electronics all over the floor.
Anyway, he did as we asked, but this involved getting a long black cable and fitting it along our front wall, below the window, into our porch and into the house. Does the cable have to be black? It's very visible and ugly.
In fitting it the cable, the engineer made quite a mess of the plaster in our porch, and didn't bother to clean this up.
We also had some twisted-pair extension cables that took the old copper phone line to various extensions around the house. Obviously, these had to be removed as the whole old-style junction box was removed. But he could have left as much as possible of the cables, so that we can re-fit once our VOIP and ATA is in place, but instead he just cut them off, making my job much harder.
As a final negative, the ONT needs a short Cat5 Ethernet cable to connect it to the router. PlusNet was supposed to supply one, but did not. I would have thought that OpenReach would be able to supply such and ordinary and essential item, but no. Luckily I am quite a techie person so I have dozens of Cat5 cables around but otherwise we would have been stuck waiting to order one from somewhere.
Engineer was friendly quick, and generous he left his pliers 😆
Engineer was friendly quick, polite and on time-he also left a pair of pliers, he might like them back-i guess if you read this you can tell him/BT 😆

Dishaun called us 20 minutes prior to arriving, was quick with the installation, was done in 20 minutes. Waited outside in the van for 15 minutes and came back to check if everything was working.
Quick, efficient service
Turned up on time, plenty of communication beforehand so I wouldn't forget installation date. Very pleasant and polite manner from the engineer doing the installation, done quickly and efficiently, leaving no mess
We were pleased with our installation
We were pleased with our installation. The installers were very good. The only thing that let it down was the fact that our installers asked me if I had a Cat 5 cable, without which my existing box would not work. He asked me to go to a shop to buy one whilst he was on our site (house). He said he never had one available on the van. I would have thought i could have been warned to make one available before the date of installation, or the installers would keep such simple items on their van, to purchase, just in case. Otherwise the installation went well. Installation date 19/08/2061

Engineer was very polite and helpfull when doing the change over.
Bt/Openreach confusing communication and failure to connect.
My score of 5 ONLY refers to the visit of the engineer on 17/07/26. The rest of the service is best described as poor.
The engineers visit was fine; he 'phoned to say he was working "at the end of our line" and was on his way. On arrival he explain what he was here to do (switch over to digital 'phone. Not what we were expecting), connected his equipment, left briefly, on return connected the back up battery, reconnected the 'phone and demonstrated the new 'phone.
HOWEVER I am somewhat confused as an email received 08/07/26 (and subsequent ones from BT & Openreach) indicated that our service was being upgraded to full fibre ("our installation partner Openreach will be in touch to arrange for an engineer to install full fibre at your property") The engineer knew nothing about it! So the fibre cable that was laid to our property (on 09/09/25, yes 2025!) but not connected to the house, remains coiled against our garden wall.
Also, strangely, the engineer was under the impression we had a "healthcare" device - we do not.

Our engineer was brilliant 🤩 he explained what needed to happen and spoke to both my neighbours as they were unhappy about the way a wire had been positioned by a previous engineer! He resolved it calmly very impressed
Poorly regulated and take full advantage of it to maximise their profits
If you have issues with Openreach, either with their illegal or unethical work, raise it with your MP and demand they raise it with Ian Murray MP who’s ministerial role is to manage and set the laws that Openreach are “meant” to follow. Put pressure on him to better regulate Openreach who currently seem to do whatever they want with no repercussions even when they break the laws governing cable placement
Openreach have run their new fibre cables over my garden and house purely because it’s the cheapest easiest option even though there was no need to do it. They now refuse to move them saying they can legally do it. Such an arrogant company with no morals or ethics. This fibre roll out is being done as cheaply as possible with new poles going up everywhere as they are the cheapest option. And this is because the government changed the laws for Openreach in 2017 to allow them to do this
