Avoid Opodo Prime Germany at all costs
Avoid Opodo Prime Germany at all costs. This company is a complete scam.
They took €119.99 from my account WITHOUT authorisation for a “Prime” subscription that was supposedly cancelled last year. At the time, they admitted the issue and refunded the money, but clearly their colleague never actually cancelled the subscription properly because they renewed it again this year and charged my account again without permission.
Trying to resolve this has been an absolute nightmare. I spent over an hour on the phone being passed from one person to another, with every agent giving completely different excuses and contradictory stories:
• “The system is buffering”
• “We have a new system”
• “Refunds take 28 days”
• “It’s German law”
None of them could provide written confirmation of the refund or cancellation. Just endless excuses, lies, and wasting customers’ time.
This company operates in a completely dishonest and unprofessional way. Be very careful giving them your card details because they seem happy to continue charging people even after subscriptions are supposedly cancelled.
A phoney company with terrible customer service and highly questionable billing practices.
SCAM - really time consuming and challenging to terminate, overpriced, very low benefits
joined prime once to book a flight, then stuck in prime membership for 2 years - automatic renewal impossible to terminate online. Cannot reach this company through any medium except calling and waiting for ages.
Opodo prime
This company is a disgrace I cancelled my prime membership only for them to take the payment and now tell me that they can’t refund but will give me a credit on my account that means I can use this on their over priced flights
Skyscanner all day long avoid this company
absolutely a rip-off company!
absolutely a rip-off company, tricked me into a prime membership. booked a flight with all possible extras to make changes free due to visa struggles. no mail contact, basic useless chatbot, can't get hold of a person, no phone number I can reach from the country I am at, had to beg family to make calls for me, stating extra costs never mentioned before, and contradicting the ads and mail. they want to keep 50%!!! after cancelling the same flight. didn't experienced those methods since 2005. stay away from this by all means!
Foced to enrol in unnecessary scheme when buying flights.
I was forced to accept a membership of this scheme when booking a flight. They promised I could cancel at any time within the first month. When I tried to do so, I was subjected to half an hour of heavy sales pitch - the £100 annual fee dropped to £50, then £20, as they just refused to accept that I did not want to go ahead. Eventually, they took me through the cancellation process, but it was a painful process, and confirmation took some time to come though, during which time the agent continued to try to sell me their scheme, which would be no use at all to me, as a twice-a-year traveller. If you can, please avoid them. If you can't, remember to cancel within that first month.
Trapped in a membership I never wanted - twice.
Opodo/eDreams enrolled me in their Prime membership without my clear consent during a booking. When I called to dispute it last year, the customer service representative told me she "could not give me a full refund", leaving me with no real choice but to accept a partial refund and vouchers. I also explicitly asked for my membership to be cancelled. She confirmed she would do so.
A year later, they charged me again. Same story, different representative. This time she offered me only 50% back (€45 of €90) plus more vouchers. When I pushed for a full refund and pointed out what had happened the previous year, which she could see in her system, she suggested reviewing the call recording, then immediately backtracked saying it was "over a year ago" and no longer possible.
To add insult to injury: if you cancel the membership renewal on their website, you lose access to any vouchers they previously gave you as compensation. You simply cannot use them. They are held hostage to keep you subscribed.
This is a textbook dark pattern. The membership is hard to find, hard to cancel, and designed at every step to extract money from people who never wanted to pay it. Customer service representatives are clearly trained to deflect, delay, and offer the minimum.
I am now pursuing a chargeback through my bank and filing a complaint with the ACM. I would encourage anyone in a similar situation to do the same rather than accepting their "offers".
Avoid Opodo and eDreams entirely if you can.
Opodo prime is a rip off and isn't…
Opodo prime is a rip off and isn't worth a penny of what they charge for the subscription. They renewed my subscription for £100 without my consent and I asked for a refund on the first day of the renewal and they refused. Please stay away from them
Scam company
Scam company! Avoid like the plague. They manage to sign you up through various dubious means and offer nothing in return. AVOID.
Appalling waste of time and money
Appalling waste of time and money. They do not fulfil their promise of the cancellation/change management and coordination between flight and car hire is non existent it seems. We booked a hire car from the airport but the office closed (and is always closed) before the arrival time of our flight. Had to pay for a hotel for the night and now being given a total run around by the various Opodo teams. Don’t bother wasting your money - you have to do all the research yourself re. If car hire locations will be running.
Additionally, the ‘priority line’ is a total farce with long wait times and very polite staff but either no pier or no skill to effect the changes required.

I had a very negative experience with Opodo Prime.
My subscription was activated without me intentionally choosing it, and it took me a long time to even realize I was enrolled. Canceling it was extremely difficult and frustrating. I only managed to do it after significant effort.
Over the past 12+ months, I regularly compared flight prices, and in many cases, flights were actually more expensive with Opodo Prime than on other search engines where I didn’t have any subscription.
I only managed to save money on a couple of bookings.
Overall, I’m very disappointed with the service and would not recommend it.
Scammers!!
Did not know that I was signed up at this scam company and now they've drawn €125 from my account. Apparently they offer discount when buying flight tickets. Tried to call them, but only got to talk with some AI that did not help in any way. Stay away from this scam company, they'll rip you off!!
I echo the reviews here
I echo the reviews here. Signed up for prime and saved £80 off my flights. Tried to cancel during the 14 day free trial and was sold the HARD sale. 50% discount, 80% discount... please don't cancel. I finally got an email confirmation that it had been cancelled and then a week later I was still charged the £100 annual membership. Not worth it for the discount!
PRIME MAKES NO DIFFERENCE TO LEVEL OF SERVICE
I booked 2 flights with 2 different airlines, and Opodo have my first name as my surname on the bookings. OK, everyone can make a mistake, but they're not communicating with me, and I've been calling and sending messages for over a week! I've managed to correct one flight myself but not the other. I've even got a "Prime" membership with Opodo but makes no difference, they still don't help, so don't waste your time buying one. And before you say you cannot find the booking, the Opodo Ref. number is 24810789443
Opodo prime membership scam
I used them last summer to book a hotel and got caught in different memberships because I booked with one email address but paid with Google pay and ended up with another membership using my Gmail. I tried to cancel the memberships and thought I had. I now see that I've been charged €99 for new membership based on an email sent to the Gmail address I never use and thus didn't see. I tried to call their 24h line to demand a refund. No answer - unless you're stranded in the Middle East. There's no customer email address. The button on the website to cancel membership doesn't work. There is way to contact these gangsters. I don't want to be a member, I want my €99 back please.
How do I give no stars?!!
How do I give no stars?!!
This company has been charging me for 4 years without any acknowledgment from them. No email to say this is our charge. Nothing!!!
I saw on my bank statement a charge and questioned it with my bank. They told me Opodo had been taking money from my account since 2022! Utterly appalling!
Ensure you are well aware of what you are signing up for before allowing this company to remove funds from your account.
I will never use this company again!!!
Avoid this scam.
If I could give zero stars, then I would. Please don't use this scam. They sell you a package that says you get 80% of your money back if you need to cancel a flight for any reason. I paid £99 for this as I have a brother-in-law who is terminally ill. Sadly, the worst has happened, and we can no longer fly. I was at least comforted by the fact that we had not lost all our money, and went to Opodo to claim.
It was then that I was informed that my flights do not count. The offer only applies to flights booked 15 days after taking out the membership, and only if booked via the app, not the website.
So in short, you need to take the membership out first for a period, then book your flights via the app on your phone. I am sure they no doubt have another scam to catch you with there.
I was really dissapointed and it just added stress and financial burden to an already challenging time.
Very disappointing experience with…
Very disappointing experience with Opodo Prime.
I cancelled my subscription approximately one year in advance via the app, which clearly stated that the next renewal would not be charged. Despite this, €100 was still charged on the renewal date.
Customer support has repeatedly refused to refund the charge, even after I provided clear evidence of the cancellation message. My concerns were not properly addressed, and I received mostly generic responses.
This experience has significantly reduced my trust in the company’s subscription handling and customer service.
I strongly advise others to monitor their subscriptions closely, keep screenshots, and review all charges carefully.
Do Not Sign Up - Extractive And A Rip Off Anyway
Offer discounted flights if you sign up to Opodo Prime. However cancelling the subscription from this grasping, rapacious, extractive large company is harder than any other I have ever experienced. You can't do it online. You have to call. And I had to call when there was global travel disruption due to the US bombing Iran.
I can imagine the board meeting and some lickspittle presenting a study showing how making customers call up to cancel "increases subscription retention by 32%" or some other rubbish that forgets the customer as human being.
Then when I called they said there was no account linked to that email! Until they found it.
Cancelling this was a time consuming battle, they care only for money, and I will never use Opodo for any purpose again. So that's one less for your retention rate, Josn.
Beware
Beware!
Opodo also operate as E Dreams, who offer discounted flights. However without reading the terms and conditions you will be fooled into thinking it's a separate company. They will quickly let you know that you have booked 2 discounted flights and therefore the second flight isn't valid. You will spend hours on the phone to try to resolve the issue (I waited 2 hours to speak to anyone other than a chatbot) and they will waste time on their obviously well-worn script to brow beat you to become a Prime member, even when you repeat that you want to cancel any membership. After a 4 hour phone call, they still did not cancel the second flight with E Dreams or cancel the Prime membership. I waited 2 further hours on the phone (after hanging up in exasperation on 4 separate calls of 30 minutes each' without getting through to a real person) to cancel the Prime membership to be told that they could not do so, that it required me to send an email. Naturally this email address isn't anywhere on their web site so you are required to waste yet more time holding for a person who will divulge the secret email to you.
This company (hiding under two separate identities) is a complete farce. Avoid Opodo and E Dreams at all costs.
