Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 596 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people found the costs associated with parking to be excessive, pointing out charges like £100 for very short stays or ridiculously high fees for minor issues. Consumers frequently expressed feeling that the company's primary focus is collecting money rather than serving users, leading some to feel they are being taken advantage of. Conversely, a small portion of people felt that they could not successfully challenge charges, even when they provided evidence of payment, detailing instances where correct inputs were seemingly ignored by the system. Others reported difficulties with processes, such as receiving multiple penalty letters for the same incident or issues with automated systems requiring specific display warnings.

Charlatans

This company loves to reject appeals due to “insufficient evidence”. They have purposefully made it difficult to appeal so you just give up. Worst parking customer service I’ve ever experienced

No option to speak to a human being

No option to speak to a human being. I had extenuating circumstances that were noted by POPLA on appeal that should have been taken into consideration. Then got slapped with a £30 admin fee for appealing the payment with no correspondence from parking eye.

Parking Eye-watering

Parking Eye! where do I start? They administer the car parking for most NHS trusts and a lot of other public organisations such as universities etc. From my experience with them they do not engage with the public. They do not accept emails - the only contact is either on the telephone or via their payment portal. There is no human interaction at all. Following an indusrial accident, I was admitted to Friarage Hospital, Northallerton. My wife came to pick me up and stayed 6 minutes over time. Fair enough, rules are rules and we held our hands up. I attempted to pay the £42 charge immediately, but the pay portal said I owed £00.00 I suspected this was delaying tactics preventing me from paying until the 14 day reduced charge period had elapsed and I would have to pay £70. I was determibed not to, so every day for a week I logged in and checked with the same result. Eventually I decided to write to them (yes, with pen & paper!) - absolutely no response or acknowledgement. In desperation I contacted the PALs team at the hospital (patient laison) and they assured me the PCN had been cancelled. Moral of the tale - try to avoid any carpark that is run by PE. If you have to use it, be meticulous in noting times etc (take photos). Finally, if all else fails and it is an NHS trust, contact the PALs team they are very helpful and have the power to intervene, after all it is their land. I would also like to ask any organisation who uses Parking Eye to think about who they partner with - these companies are parasitic, living on the backs of genuine organisations such as NHS. Finally I ran a check on PE on the HMRC portal and their accounts for 2024 show their turnover was £17m. I think that says it all!

They try to frustrate you

I emailed them on the same day and received a response more than a month late, with a response not related to my appeal.

It feels like they try to frustrate you to make you pay.

Parking ticket for not parking

I was guided to the car park to leave my car before a cruise from southampton, when I returned home I had a ticket as I had been in the car park, NOT PARKED, key still in the ignition. I was to park with holiday autos as I had done before, I seen the holiday autos flag and waited next to him as he was busy. I then discovered I was to park somewhere else and set off to search for the parking area.
PARKING EYE issued me a ticket for simply finding out I was somewhere else. They offered me the reduced rate if paid within 14 days or appeal and the discounted rate would be honoured until the appeal was dealt with. As I could see that the appeal would solve the issue I decided to go for the appeal.
I then got an email saying the appeal had been unsuccessful and I could make a further independant appeal, however they would not give the lower rate if this appeal failed. Below is the contents of the email.

If you wish to have your case independently assessed, please be advised, there is an
independent appeals service (POPLA) which is available to motorists who have had an
appeal rejected by a British Parking Association Approved Operator. Contact information
and further information can be found enclosed. See also popla

As a gesture of goodwill, we have extended the discount period for a further 14 days from
the date of this correspondence. If you appeal to POPLA, you will not be able to pay the
discounted amount in settlement of the Parking Charge, and the full value of the charge
will be outstanding. In addition, if your appeal to POPLA is unsuccessful, you will no
longer be able to pay the discounted amount and the full value of the charge will be due.

This company have no contact numbers or email address just a money grabbing payment line. I honestly do not know how these people can sleep at night by ROBBING innocent motorists. If this had been a PARKING violation or a speeding ticket I would be upset but I would at least know why.

A scum bag company

A scummy company that legally rob people. I parked at a local supermarket to find that you get fined for using their carpark, and this scum bag company send you the fine but send it second class in the hopes you don't get it in time so you have to pay the full amount! £40 for a 15 min shop! I hope they rot in hell!!!

I would give no stars if I could

I would give no stars if I could.
Was issued a PCN and paid but after I talked to the hotel where the car was parked only to be told the car was registered for the period in question. So the PCN was issued in error and despite being told by the hotel where I LEGALLY parked and by Parking Eye that the PCN has been cancelled and I would get my money back I've still not had my money back, despite several unanswered emails and WhatsApp messages I'm still chasing them.

I think legal action maybe required which as I have evidence of the cancellation from the hotel and Parking Eye and an initial reply saying I'd get a refund they'll end up paying the £60 they owe me plus legal costs.

If I could rate it a 0 I would

If I could rate it 0, I would, I would go into the negatives. Horrible experience and gesture of gratitude to reduce my fine even though I explained why I shouldn't be fined. Horrible.

Just had a parking ticket for parking…

Just had a parking ticket for parking in a blue badge area in a hospital. I am a blue badge holder and the blue badge was displayed, however I was not the patient, but did use the toilet on two occasions whilst there. There were signs up, written in really small writing, I did read and couldn't see anything about payment, wish I'd taken a photo, lesson learned. On my fine it states that because I was not the patient I only had 20 minutes waiting time and I was there for 43 minutes. What a rip off north tees hospital, what a disgrace and parking eye. Dear dear dear

Rubbish car park in Poole…

This company has a car park in Poole Quay and it is the worst I have ever seen in terms of parking surface - it really is totally a mess and secondly the EVOLOGY online booking process is not working properly - I wonder how many people have struggled like me to input the final payment due only to find this rejected - or screen goes blank - I really is frustrating. I appealed because I know that I input data required fully and accurately on several occasions only to be rejected each time. No explanation just a blank screen. I know of other people in the same boat and of course my appeal was rejected, You end up paying a fine. Beware!!

A business model built on traps

A business model built on traps

ParkingEye represents everything wrong with private parking enforcement. Their entire operation is designed to catch people out, not to manage spaces fairly.

Take this common scenario: a car park that was previously council-run, with free parking after 6pm (matching all other local car parks). Along comes ParkingEye on behalf of a private landowner. The signage is poor, the cameras go up, and suddenly a less than 10-minute stay after 6pm lands you an extortionate fine. Ten minutes. After 6pm. That is not enforcement – that is a money grab.

And it gets worse. ParkingEye is known for sending fines to old addresses, deliberately using outdated DVLA data so victims miss the appeal window. By the time you find out about the fine, the discount period is gone and you're forced to pay the full £100. That's not an accident – it's a tactic.

There is no grace, no common sense, and no interest in helping motorists. Just aggressive cameras and a business model that preys on honest people who have parked in good faith for years.

The greed from ParkingEye is astonishing. Avoid any car park they manage – and if you have to use one, treat every minute like a potential trap.

Sent my appeal on the same day I…

Sent my appeal on the same day I received the letter and stated my appeal was too late. Lol. No direct email, telephone number or anyway to contact them directly. Also did not supply the 10 digit reference number which to use to contact POPLA for a further appeals request. Disgusting company ethics and this is definitely an illegal business practice. Anyone else having the same issue needs to contact the business ombudsman and report. Hope they get massively fined for mal-business practice

PCN issued without checks, rules not followed

ParkingEye sent a PCN to my car leasing company. Thankfully, my car leasing company queried it as one of the photos of my car allegedly leaving had clearly been doctored. Also, I had a valid car park booking via Your Parking Space so there was no justification to raise a PCN. ParkingEye clearly didn’t follow statutory obligations on process, evidence and verification. They can’t auto generate a PCN just to obtain driver personal information from the DVLA. I’m pursuing answers on this.

This has to be close to criminal…

This has to be close to criminal activity.
Parking fine was cancelled correctly by the land owner - as it was incorrectly issued. I was sent a screenshot of the confirmed PCN cancellation - but a month later still no refund.
Absolutely no way of contacting them and neither does the land owner.
Isn't this theft?
Surely someone somewhere has to do something about these people?
