⚠️ I want to share with the Trustpilot…

⚠️ I want to share with the Trustpilot community a revealing example of what “European fintech” can look like once the glossy marketing layer comes off.

Recently, one of my companies in Latvia needed an additional business account, so I chose Paysera. I expected a routine KYC process. Instead, I received an email from a company employee who did not introduce themselves, did not properly explain their authority, and immediately took an ultimatum-style tone:

“We know who you are. We know you are accessing our system from a prohibited country. We will ban you.”

That faceless corporate “we” was especially striking. When a company starts with threats instead of facts, respect for the client is clearly not part of its culture.

I asked for three simple things:
📌 identify yourself;
📌 explain the source of your data;
📌 provide full grounds for your conclusions.

What I got back was a pathetic extract of four lines, including, absurdly, a date from the future.

I then provided evidence from their own system, covering six years, showing that 98% of logins were from the EU — specifically Poland, Italy, and Estonia, where my residencies are located.

Instead of acknowledging this, they escalated. They demanded documents relating to my real estate, proof of how it was paid for, documents on my data center properties, technicians’ salaries, partner contracts, and other highly sensitive materials. At that point this no longer looked like reasonable KYC. It looked like an attempt to turn a business inside out for people who could not even properly identify themselves. I refused to hand over an NDA-protected package of documents on the basis of vague allegations and this style of communication.

So I looked more closely at Paysera.

First, Paysera is not a bank. It operates under an electronic money institution license issued by the Bank of Lithuania.

Second, the trust and security posture visible from the outside raised serious concerns for me. Recent SSL certificates appear to be only DV, meaning they confirm domain control, not legal-entity validation. For a financial institution, that is already a red flag. Their email configuration also appears weak: DMARC p=none, no AAAA for MX, SMTP banner mismatch, and no BIMI.

Third, the public regulatory record is troubling. The Bank of Lithuania indicates that Paysera LT has been subject to 7 enforcement measures, including:
💥 €370,000 in 2020 for AML/CFT violations;
💥 €100,000 in 2022 for failure to comply with a prior instruction;
💥 €400,000 in 2025 on reporting, capital, and corporate actions;
💥 €25,000 in 2025 for failure to comply with mandatory instructions;
💥 plus a warning concerning misleading information related to Paysera securities.

There is also the June 2024 Solaris data-security incident affecting Paysera cardholders, a public Trustpilot review alleging mistaken transmission of another company’s documents, and Lithuanian court cases involving phishing losses, unauthorized transactions, and questions over whether Paysera LT applied sufficiently secure authentication measures.

After reviewing all this, I informed Paysera that with such a record and such toxic communication, I would not provide further documents and would not recommend their services. Their response was to block my personal account, citing clause 12.2.3 of their General Agreement — a justification that, in my view, was unreasoned and improper in the circumstances described.

I have therefore decided to file a formal complaint with the Bank of Lithuania and request a comprehensive review.

Perhaps @Justina Šidlauskienė, CEO of Paysera LT, would like to explain why this is considered acceptable client treatment.

💬 My conclusion is simple: companies with this level of regulatory baggage and this style of client communication should not be treated as trustworthy by default.

Lousy Customer Service

I emailed three times asking for contact details of a local satellite office as none were available online.
I was ignored three times.
Certainly not the way to treat a prospective new customer.
