If it wasn't sad, it would be funny

Let's be clear right from the start. Our frustrations are not with WD, WB, WM, which are very good tools, but with the policy and way of doing business and dealing with customers of the company PC SOFT.
Every year it gets worse. They really nailed the game.
Every year a new version that we pay to have improved in 12 months and then a new one comes out, with even more bugs, which we pay again to have them improve a little. And then, at the end of the year they say: To continue support, buy a new version. Ridiculous.
And now, instead of changing that policy and instead of fancy magazines and pictures of models, they ask for an extension of the subscription to the existing version (instead of constantly new ones with the same and worse bugs) and continued repairs, additions and corrections to their code, so that we as users benefit from what we pay for, they sell the company and these new magnates introduce SAAS to us that we will pay like slaves, and in return get a pig in a poke that we will also sell to our customers. Because to be honest, all the newer versions bring new problems in working with different operating systems and have a lot of parts of the tool that do not do what PC SOFT advertised and attracted us to pay for it by buying their new version. So, you could say that there are elements of customer fraud. It's like buying a new car that doesn't really work properly and then they fix it a little until 12 months have passed and then they say, we're sorry but a new model has come out that you have to buy to extend your warranty. Interesting.

Illegal refusal Bugfix

PCSoft constantly refuses to provide a warranty! Bug fixes that occur in version 28 or 2024 are always denied with the statement that only the current version is supported.
This is not permitted! EU law also applies here with a minimum 2-year warranty from the date of purchase! By the way: The time from the error message until the error is rectified extends the warranty period - at least in Germany!

Current policy makes this product no longer an option.

PCSoft decided to change their policy so if you stopped paying you no longer have access to your own source code. No independent developer can work this way so despite this being a good product it is no longer viable. Despite promises that both the old method of a yearly update and a live SAAS base system with real-time updates being maintained they simply dropped the yearly update option with no warning.

horrible licence

windev is a good product BUT and it is a very big BUT.
If for any reason, including retirement, switching to a different platform , change of business requirements etc you stop paying the subscription your code will NOT be accessible anymore. That is very BAD. I will be switching now to a different platform where this is not the case.
It is a difficult descision to make but the sooner it is done the better.

Great tool, awfully bad company

PCSoft's development products are excellent and indeed enable rapid application development.

But the company that develops them is deplorable. For years, it has imposed outdated and sexist communication, which seriously harms commercial development. Its sales department is deplorable, and has nothing to envy from the political world in terms of double-talk. Its forum is censored to the bone, and any message deemed deviant is deleted. No serious action is taken in schools and universities to promote these tools. Finally, the company has done everything it can torpedo all developer associations using its products.

PCSoft has just been quietly acquired by a Canadian financial group: no information provided to developers other than a terse press release. The buyer's first move: to force everyone to switch to SAAS, with the added bonus that if you stop paying your subscription, you can no longer access your source code!!! While current SAAS pricing is acceptable, there's no guarantee, and we know very well what financiers do when they have a captive customer base: they raise prices.

In short, if there's one development tool that we strongly advise against right now, it's PCSoft's tools, at least until the buyer makes their real intentions known, and not through generic press releases that contain no commitments.

Abolishing the Dongle Version

Abolishing the Dongle Version, forced to change to the SAAS Version. If you end your subscription, you can't compile your own code anymore. And what do they say to it, the sources are still yours ...

Reply from PC SOFT

Hello Friedrich,

PC SOFT has changed shareholder and joined Constellation Software Inc., one of the world's leading software publishers (over $10 billion in software sales by 2024).
CSI took full control, with a view to strengthening and developing PC SOFT over the long term, without ever selling it. Like nearly 80% of software publishers worldwide, CSI has opted for a modern, subscription-based sales model.

Yours sincerely

PC SOFT

SaaS to Monopolize developers and projects

Every year dissapointment and lies about new features that half-work, now with the move to saas to force all developers and businesses to pay yearly a partnership yet the supoport is garbage and google translated. The tools 4*, the business and support 1*.

Not serious…

After years of work and without warning, they changed their sales policies, leaving many loyal programmers on the street.
