So easy and thorough

Working with Nationwide Pet Insurance is very easy to do online. Their website and digital forms are intuitive with easy-to-follow instructions. Their contact options for issues are thorough, and issues are resolved quickly. The price is extremely reasonable, and it's so easy to make a claim.

I recommend them highly if you have beloved fur babies you wish to insure.

My policy got cancelled because I…

My policy got cancelled because I didn't call in. This was not clear in the letter I received. I thought if I paid the premium, it would continue. I have a card on file. I thought my pets were covered and am pretty upset. Now I have to re-apply, which was also not clear. The web portal is lacking in a lot of options, including renewal and explaining the policy. I'm not clear if I am getting my UC discount.

Nationwide Pet insurance is the…

Nationwide Pet insurance is the absolute worst company I have ever used. After over 12 years of paying yearly increasing premiums to keep my dogs covered no matter what, I had to call to cancel as my boy entered into palliative care. As I assumed I had paid for the month already I called to cancel knowing the next few days would be stressful and it would be easily forgotten. I told them that I would no longer need coverage after that day believing they would cover our final vet visit that morning. They decided to prorate my account for the month and therefore not cover his final $600 visit. I paid $1200 a year and of course they tried to keep coverage stating they would pay $60 towards cremation if I just kept paying over $100 a month, when I told them this made no sense they stated I wanted to cancel my policy for before his last visit for financial reasons, which was entirely not the case. They are a cruel and horrible company that is just looking to make a buck off animal lovers that care about their pets. Stay away from this company at all costs.

I just had to reenroll due to incorrect…

I just had to reenroll due to incorrect information in your letter to me dated 9/27/25 where you stated my plan was discontinued and I needed to respond prior to 12/1/25 to elect the Modular Pet plan.  After receiving the letter I contacted Mercer who handles the voluntary benefits through my employer and was told that my plan would auto renew. I have never dealt with your company for enrollment and even now with this reenrollment I started off with Mercer. Subsequently, when I went to file a claim today, I find out that my plans have expired.  When I called Mercer they again assured me that the plan should have renewed and to call Nationwide.  I called your customer service line and was told that I had to call you to transfer the plan. Additionally, he told me that the plan in the
letter was not a payroll deduction plan.  I was looking at the Mercer voluntary benefit site link to Nationwide plan during the call where my employee plan option is not Modular Pet but Pet Protection Choice which is eligible for payroll deduction.  I believe you tried to switch me to a lower tier plan that would not provide me my employer's voluntary benefit discount.  I have no idea why you would not have provided me the appropriate plan option, the Pet Protection Choice with Wellness offered through my employer and which I have just signed up for.  I am very unhappy with how this played out.  Not only were my pets not insured for the first 1/2 of 2026 and have to wait until June 1st for benefits, provided they make it through the underwriting process, but it left me paying for 100%
of my pet's emergency hospital bill today.  After all the years of paying for this insurance, it was not available to me today when I needed it. I have found that your claim process was very easy and although you have cut benefits over the years, I still decided to reenroll my pets today due to the convenience of the payroll deduction.  I would love for someone to explain to me why the letter did not contain the correct plan benefit information that if offered through my employer.

Application closed after months of no responses from Nationwide

I completed the application 1/9 and my last message was received 1/12 with a response, an automated message 1/29 with response and documents, and additional attempts for a response have been made 3/30, 4/13 and 4/20.
I was then notified after multiple attempts for a response that my application was closed.
"Our records indicate Wink's application 10303519 was automatically closed on 03/25/2026 due to waiting for additional medical records. Unfortunately, the additional medical records were received on 04/13/2026. Which was after the application was closed."

My response: The request for additional records was responded to via fax and email within hours of the request. It was sent on 1/12 at 1:32, and again when no response was heard on 1:28.
They were sent via my personal work email as well as the hospital email. All of my contact information of emails, phone number and home address has been provided and multiple attempts for contact made, I am disheartened that this is how I find out that the application was closed after all of this time and information was sent the same day. My dog has a policy and I have received communications for his without any error.

We recommend your services to our clients at our hospital, and this is concerning how this was handled.
