Very Chaotic Company, Disrespectful Of Your Time

This company doesn’t offer legitimate demo or brand ambassador opportunities. They couldn’t confirm for me if I was W-2 or an independent contractor and expect you to provide all the supplies for the demo, with no compensation for this. It was a nightmare working with them. Karen their recruiter and event coordinator is very disrespectful of your time. She insisted I interview with her for just a few events, and the first interview date after I already made time out of my schedule and aside an entire hour to meet with her. She was not available that day and just expected me to be able to move everything to the same day and time the next day. This was the first red flag. At the beginning of the interview, she expected for me to email her a copy of an updated résumé. Considering that I had already been in internal recruiting apps where this information is available for booking agents such as Karen to review when I had applied - this seemed to just be another hoop to jump through. It seemed unreasonable that after rescheduling the interview that at some point, she hadn’t mentioned that ahead of time that she wanted me to have their résumé available to email over.
I have worked as a brand ambassador for over 15 years, and have recruited. This is one of the worst companies I have ever booked with. Karen had no respect that they were only hiring me for about 12 hours of work over the course of the month. I work events and marketing about 30 hours a week for different brands. She continued to interrupt me with texts/calls when I would be working at other events and expect me to be available to text her back. She had no respect for the other companies I was working for and the fact that they regularly scheduled me for the these events. The entire time she was interrupting me. I have never actually signed an official employment contract with this company. Thus it is very inappropriate for her to expect someone who is just working a couple of events with them to dedicate this much time to her obnoxious communications. It absorbed so much of my energy and attention from the moment that I agreed to even interview with them. I would urge anyone to stay away.
Then, after I finally was booked, she went behind my back and changed the event location, yet it actually was not updated in my calendar. The old address was still in my iPhone calendar as it was added, when I had originally confirmed for the first event, so the first event I did for them I drove to the original location as that was the location that I had spoken with her about in the interview. During our conversation, she had even confirmed that I lived close to the location, so they created a lot of confusion when I was suddenly expected to drive elsewhere.
What should have been a simple afternoon working in my area ended up being me having to drive across Los Angeles during rush hour traffic, which was extremely stressful and having to move everything over to the other store. Once I arrived at the other location, she insisted that I needed to work an extra hour to be able to make up for the time, I said that I would only stay if I was compensated for the time. She even said that she had called her boss to confirm that they would pay me for the extra hour. She made me send her photos of myself at the location to prove that I was still working. I was very successful during their event and their expectations seems very unrealistic. I created a successful event, and met my sales quota, despite the adverse circumstances and it being my first event with the company. Apparently she thought that I would just forget about the extra time. I worked for three more events with them over the course of May. Yes, I was paid out for all of the events through the Pop Bookings app, but I was never compensated for the additional hour that they expected me to stay and confirmed they would pay. It appears that they were counting on me just forgetting or being too intimidated to follow up with them. However, on the antithesis, I am making the story known so that both companies and product demonstrators know to avoid this company!!
Furthermore, they email you print collateral digital materials, and expect for you to take your personal time and personal resources to go print out these documents. This is not compliant with California labor law, and they just expect for you to deal with it. Some of the other events that I was under the impression that I was on hold to book they never followed through with so I told another company I was not available those dates and Phun for All never booked me so then it actually cost me the work for both companies. They do not respect your time or income. Although the administrators for this company do not even reside in Los Angeles they expect for you to just deal with all of this and be able to pay to live in Los Angeles.
