Denied claim over ‘repair vs replacement’ loophole despite cracked screen

I purchased a PureGear screen protector with the Pure Pledge program expecting coverage if my screen was damaged. My phone screen ended up cracking, and I had to go through insurance and pay a $100 deductible to replace the device.

My claim was denied because the phone was “replaced instead of repaired,” even though the cost was directly due to screen damage. This feels like a technical loophole that defeats the purpose of the protection being offered.

The process itself was also unnecessarily difficult. You have to register the product after installation, then go through a lengthy claims process and provide multiple documents, only to be denied based on fine print that isn’t clearly emphasized at the time of purchase.

Between the confusing requirements, the time involved, and the denial despite legitimate damage and out-of-pocket cost, this program does not provide the value it suggests. I would not recommend relying on it.

Scam $100 warranty on the $49.99 Pure.Gear Screen Protector

The $100 "warranty" on the $49.99 Pure.Gear 360 glass iPhone screen protector is a scam. To obtain a replacement screen protector (under warranty) you are required to pay $12.95 in shipping charges for shipment of a single measly screen protector. What?? I instead bought a pack of three glass screen protectors on Amazon for $7, that was delivered the next day!

Additionally, before getting a replacement screen protector, you are required to first fill out a cumbersome registration form (within 30 days of purchase), which requires you to disclose your iPhone's IMEI number, your personal phone number and home address. For security reasons, an iPhone owner should not be required to disclose the IMEI number to a third party vendor, selling a screen protector!

What's more? You have to fill out a second form to actually request the replacement, and only when you've nearly completed this process (of completing both forms), Pure.Gear discloses (surprise!) that you are required to pay $12.95 in shipping charges to receive the replacement. Why not be transparent and disclose this important detail up front on the product package of the screen protector?? Well... what buyer would purchase this flimsy, inferior screen protector plus warranty for $49.99 plus taxes, knowing the above? Zip, zero!

Furthermore, the screen protector is brittle. After a mere couple weeks of gentle normal use, it cracked.

Beware, Verizon sold me this screen protector, when I upgraded my iPhone (at their store in San Rafael, California), informing me that I could get a lifetime of free screen protectors, which sounded good at the time.

I was shocked at the $49.99 price tag…

I was shocked at the $49.99 price tag when I purchased at a Verizon store in FL but since I was told there were free replacements, I bought it. A few months later i have a huge crack and now a bubble all the way up the middle of my screen (I do have a $40 Tech21case) and the edges of the corners are peeling up. Went on the website and it's $12.99 for shipping; not free. Went to Amazon and PureGear is selling them for $12 free shipping over $35 through Amazon. What a rip off not getting any more of my money.

OK for a few years

The phone cases will be OK for a 2-3 years and offer descent protection but after that the plastic in the case will literally start to disintegrate, crumble and break off.
So, not a lasting solution. Don't pay too much. It's basically a throw away item.
